Great raw bar, fresh fresh seafoods.
My fav pastas are the tagliolini & the cappeletti. The tagliolini looks like it would be very creamy maybe even too much... but no. It is perfectly creamy & cheesy. The plate was licked clean it was not too heavy whatsoever, very amazing that they pulled this off the way they did. Cappeletti sauce also maybe sound heav, but it is not. It is bursting with flavour & is addicting. Plate was also licked clean.
The servers offered some chili oil, which was an epic pairing with the cappeletti!! The chili oil is very delicious. Somehow a bit sweet & spicy, realllly loved it so much.
The squid ink ravioli toppings are sooo good but found the texture of that pasta to be a miss for me.
Another killer is the vanilla ice cream, its not on the menu, but ask for it because (coming from a person whos fav food is ice cream & has it everywhere i find it) it is some of the best i have ever had, creamy & icy, luscious & addicting vanilla flavour. Perfectly sweetened. I will miss it forever when i leave Montreal
Very beautiful evening. The service was, hands down, phenomenal. He was professional & kind the whole night; his recommendations were spot on.
We got the'Plateau Royal per 2' & the fresh fish was remarkable. I live on Vancouver Island, & this was better than any seafood I had had out there. The red wine we got was amazing too!
Would recommend to anyone who is considering it! Becuase its a newer place, it doesn't get enough praise
Wow!!! It just keeps getting better. I've been to Mare several times since its opening 3 months ago. From the very beginning I was impressed by EVERYTHING. Taking in consideration it just opened, the food, the service, the ambiance was always great!!! But last night!!??? It was an experience of its own. The presentation of the plates & attention to details are just incredible. I mean it was from the very beginning but it just keeps getting better. The chef owner that comes out & oversees every table in between plating the plates in the kitchen brings a personalized unique touch. There's such a thing of eating with your eyes. These plates were gorgeous & even better tasting. This is my first review of the place after 9 or 10 times there. I just never took the time to do it. After last might???!! Im blown away. P.s I had a restaurant for 4 years & worked in the restaurant business for 20 years. Mare is just next level. Salute!
Unfortunately, the food was disappointing.
The zucchini flour tasted like eggs
The beef tartare had no flavour
The pasta was very buttery & heavy
Myself & the guests left most of our plates untouched
Service was great though
We went there for dinner & we were unfortunately disappointed by the food. The stuffed zucchini flower had a gelatine consistency almost like a jello shrimp flavour which we really didn't like. The plate of seafood to share was just okay, the presentation was disappointing for a plate at 120$, I expected more garnish with herbs, lemon, etc. The lobster bisque pasta was not bad but it was not great, I expected the pasta to be al dente for an Italian restaurant. As for the dessert, we usually are big on that & they only had 4 choices that looked sad so we ended up not taking anything. We will unfortunately not come back
