February 27/25 = We were a group of 18 people who reserved for 12:30 pm & were very much looking forward to trying this new establishment. Creperies are somewhat difficult to come by in the suburbs. Regretfully, the chef was 45 minutes late & they seemed short staffed as making crepes to order on one grill for 18 people was quite time consuming. My mother's crepe had cheese that wasn't completely melted & the crepes could have done with a little more browning. The menu was limited as not everything that appeared on the menu was available. The dessert crepes were delicious though! Coffee was good, although the Blue Mountain Haitian has a somewhat lighter taste. The chocolatier, Mr. Ralph Leroy, did give an somewhat rushed explanation of his products. Would have liked to try his chocolate truffles but none were available; not even to purchase.
The atmosphere was nice & the background music just loud enough to enjoy our lively discussions. Regretfully, the washrooms could be cleaner with enough tissue paper for both stalls. Regretfully, feel that Makaya Chocolat & Bistro were not prepared for a group of 18 even though we had reservations. It's too bad as was planning on having my wedding anniversary there next month but the experience was lacking.
Chef Ralph delivers a wonderful dining experience. The food is excellent, the hot chocolate is sublime, the service is attentive & excellent & the ambiance comfortable & intuitive. What else could anyone ever want?
Makaya Chocolat Bistro is a must go to spot along the lakeshore!

J'ai été invitée à un anniversaire dans votre restaurant & l'expérience a été tout simplement exceptionnelle. Après avoir visité de nombreux restaurants au Canada & outre-mer, je peux dire sans hésitation que le vôtre est le meilleur. Tout était exquis, la présentation impeccable & l'attention portée aux détails remarquable. Le chef Ralph Leroy ne s'est pas limité à la cuisine : il a pris le temps de s'assurer que tout se déroulait parfaitement, que nous étions bien servis, & a su faire sentir chaque personne spéciale. Bravo au chef Ralph Leroy & à toute l'équipe!
J'ai été le week-end dernier & j'ai été très satisfaite. L'ambiance, l'accueil, c'est différent. C'était très chaleureux. La salle à manger C'était Wow. Les repas bien présenté & très délicieux. De plus je vous conseil le potage , le sandwich griot ...allez gouter cela🙏🏿. Merci Chef pour ta gentillesse & ton acceuil, & merci à la serveuse qui était toujours présente. We took the Parisien hot chocolate, it was the true definition of the hot chocolate (not chocolate milk), served by the chef himself,it was a gem discovery. Thanks again & see you shortly.
Je recommanderai fortement ce restaurant si vous voulez prendre un dessert .les crêpes étaient succulentes .
Pour le brunch nous étions 4 personnes & chacun de nos plats étaient fades & sans saveur : la crêpe du chef n avait aucune épice . Le poulet dans la crêpe semblait bouilli uniquement . Le riz haitien aucune épice , la ratatouille non plus aucune saveur .La salade artibonite avait trop de sauce .
Les 2 serveuses s alternaient & semblaient complètement débordées pourtant quand on est arrivées le restaurant n étaient pas encore plein . L attente était longue également. pour avoir nos lattes on a du rappeler à la serveuse numéro 2 qu' on avait commandé depuis un moment avec la serveuse 1 .
En résumé j y retournerai uniquement pour les desserts / un snack en passant . Pas pour un repas

I had the pleasure of dining at THIS Haitian Bistro, & it was truly an unforgettable experience. The spices in the dishes warmed the soul, & the chef was just as warm & accommodating, making us feel right at home. We started with the bread soup, which was an explosion of flavor-rich, comforting, & full of depth. It was more than just a dish; it was an experience. Even the PURE chocolate dessert exceeded expectations, adding a perfect touch to our meal. Ma visite au Bistro Makaya fut plus qu'un simple dîner, ce fut une immersion dans l'essence même d'Haïti, rappelant la splendeur du Pic de Makaya, cette montagne emblématique située en Haïti & point culminant du massif de la Hotte à 2 347 mètres d'altitude. Dès l'accueil, le propriétaire a su créer une atmosphère chaleureuse & accueillante qui nous a transportés. En cuisine, le chef a véritablement capturé l'esprit du territoire haïtien, nous offrant des plats aux saveurs majestueuses qui sont un hommage à la diversité & à la richesse de la gastronomie locale. Chaque bouchée était comme une ascension gustative au sommet du Pic de Makaya, révélant des horizons de saveurs inexplorés. L'ambiance était magnifiée par la sélection musicale d'un DJ talentueux, qui, à travers des rythmes haïtiens, a ajouté une dimension vibrante & profondément authentique à notre soirée. Le Bistro Makaya n'est pas seulement un lieu de restauration; c'est une célébration de la culture, de l'histoire & du patrimoine haïtien, offrant une expérience culinaire qui est aussi riche & variée que le paysage du Pic de Makaya lui-même. Un grand bravo à toute l'équipe pour avoir élevé l'art culinaire haïtien à de tels sommets ! Mon seul hic est que aucun serveur n est venu me demander si je voulais boire ou prendre quelque chose. Le propriétaire m a gracieusement offert un apéritif vue l'attente.
