This is a lovely Caribbean place located on the idyllic Lachine canal. The food was so tasty. We had the Caribbean sheppards pie & the pulled pork griot sandwich. It was well seasoned & the prices are so affordable. Hot dishes are $16-$18.
The owner & his wife ate so hospitable, make you feel so welcome. He whipped up a delicious Caribbean rum punch with fresh guava & passion fruit juice & Babacourt rum
They also have an extensive hot chocolate & crepes menu. The chocolate desserts & drinks are made with real cocoa sourced from Haiti. Give thus place a try. Finally a decent recent that wont break your budget

February 27/25 = We were a group of 18 people who reserved for 12:30 pm & were very much looking forward to trying this new establishment. Creperies are somewhat difficult to come by in the suburbs. Regretfully, the chef was 45 minutes late & they seemed short staffed as making crepes to order on one grill for 18 people was quite time consuming. My mother's crepe had cheese that wasn't completely melted & the crepes could have done with a little more browning. The menu was limited as not everything that appeared on the menu was available. The dessert crepes were delicious though! Coffee was good, although the Blue Mountain Haitian has a somewhat lighter taste. The chocolatier, Mr. Ralph Leroy, did give an somewhat rushed explanation of his products. Would have liked to try his chocolate truffles but none were available; not even to purchase.
The atmosphere was nice & the background music just loud enough to enjoy our lively discussions. Regretfully, the washrooms could be cleaner with enough tissue paper for both stalls. Regretfully, feel that Makaya Chocolat & Bistro were not prepared for a group of 18 even though we had reservations. It's too bad as was planning on having my wedding anniversary there next month but the experience was lacking.

I had the pleasure of dining at THIS Haitian Bistro, & it was truly an unforgettable experience. The spices in the dishes warmed the soul, & the chef was just as warm & accommodating, making us feel right at home. We started with the bread soup, which was an explosion of flavor-rich, comforting, & full of depth. It was more than just a dish; it was an experience. Even the PURE chocolate dessert exceeded expectations, adding a perfect touch to our meal. The vibe inside was absolutely ideal for a date, with a cozy & welcoming atmosphere that made the evening feel even more special. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy flavors in a charming setting!
Its a cute spot to have some chocolate desserts & its just opposite to water so you can have a great view. But I did not like the cappuccino & it was 9 dollars excluded taxes. Also I ordered take away but they dont have proper disposable glasses. They should have mentioned that before taking the order. Not worth it to spend this much for that kind of coffee.
Such a cute spot with great food & desserts. We had the Maïs a la Bonne Femme, hot chocolate (try the spicy one but it is actually spicy!), the dulce de leche crepe & a salted caramel truffle. Everything was delicious & the staff was so friendly when we came in just before closing. Would recommend stopping by!
Beautiful little bistro with limited but flavorful dishes ( great Haitian potage). Nice selection of french crepes & of course chocolate desserts( didn't try). Delicious pisco sour! Lovely attentive service & wonderful, cozy decor looking out to lake. Will definitely return! Should add daily menu & offer a salad option or two.
Makaya Chocolat Restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience that combines a cozy ambiance with exceptional cuisine. Chef Leroy, a true artist in the kitchen, crafts each dish with remarkable skill & creativity, making every meal a memorable event. The food is not only tasty but also presented with an artistic flair that enhances the overall dining experience. One of the standout features of Makaya Chocolat is their incredible selection of chocolates. Each piece is a testament to quality & flavor, making it a must-try for chocolate enthusiasts. Additionally, their coffee is top-notch, providing a perfect balance of rich flavors & aromatic bliss, making it an ideal companion to their delectable desserts. The atmosphere at Makaya Chocolat is warm & inviting, perfect for both intimate dinners & casual outings. The elegant decor & friendly staff add to the charm, ensuring that every visit is enjoyable & satisfying. Overall, Makaya Chocolat Restaurant is a gem worth visiting for its delicious food, exquisite chocolates, & outstanding coffee.

Endroit vraiment agréable, vue sur le lac. Bonne musique. Nourriture très bonne. Plusieurs choix de mocktails & frappés. Les desserts sont excellents! Très bon service! À essayer!
Makaya is an incredible Haitian bistro with delicious chocolate, desserts, food, & drinks. The atmosphere is warm & cozy, with a beautiful view over the old part of Canal Lachine. We ordered hot chocolate, frappés, savoury chicken & cheese crêpes, & bought some desserts to-go - everything was amazing! While we were there during the evening, & happened to catch a beautiful view of the sunset over the water, it also makes for a great spot for a coffee break &/or brunch.
