My partner & I had such a great experience! AMAZING Creole-style dinner, great selection of drinks, such a vibe & the music selection was lovely. The staff were so fun & attentive, & the food was restaurant-style quality with the comfort of a home-cooked meal. Absolutely now in our rotation!

The energy of the place is infectious, making it an ideal spot for couples, families, & friends alike.
The owner, Ralph is genuinely welcoming, adding to the charm of this beautiful bistro. The food & drinks are simply outstanding, crafted with love & attention to detail. Each bite & sip is a delight, making every visit a memorable experience.

This is my neighbourhood. So, I know that this is the only bona fide cocktail lounge on St. Joseph Boulevard. decor can be described as charmingly eclectic, with some Haitian art influences.
It's a congenial place to have a cocktail & look out over the water. I was instantly attracted to the martinis on the drink menu. The owner who served me also was the one who made my martinis. He mentioned that he made them in the New York style because of his experience in that city. I was not disappointed. So much so that I could not stop at only one martini! So, I recommend the apple & lychee martinis.
I did not have anything substantial to eat, so I do not know about the quality of the food there. Despite that, the cocktail lounge is a very welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
When my family comes to visit, I now have a congenial place to take them for some cocktails.
The hot chocolate is exceptional & there are excellent vegan options. Ralph, the owner, is very kind & generously remade one drink that, while lovely, was not 100% to our taste. The decor is beautiful & the space is very comfortable. I would highly recommend this gem for the delicious chocolate & the extremely welcoming & kind service. A definite favorite for every trip to Montreal!

I had hot chocolate & a broccoli soup which was so so delicious. I Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great atmosphere with great service & delicious drinks & food. It is also located at a great location with a big parking lot right in front along with the lake view. Thank you very much 🙏🏽
Nothing bad to say about this place! The staff & owner are amazing. The drinks are the best around & the food is wonderful. It is a great place if you are looking for a relaxing & inviting experience! One of our top places in the area!

Makaya was the perfect place to go after a long day! The kindness we received at Makaya was beyond appreciated. Not only were the staff so kind, they were super attentive! From recommending the best dishes & drinks to having patience to explain the ingredients that go into the dishes! I recommend Makaya for the tasty dishes, the kind service & what a beautiful terrace with gorgeous flowers by the water! You heard it here! Go see for yourself! 🌟
Was passing by & ended up coming for a quick bite & a drink. Needless to say 3 drinks, a crepe & chocolate cake later I've found a new place to enjoy a nice afternoon. Thank you Ralph for showing us some great drinks & chocolate! Really refreshing place that is unique & tasty!

Makaya is an incredible Haitian bistro with delicious chocolate, desserts, food, & drinks. The atmosphere is warm & cozy, with a beautiful view over the old part of Canal Lachine. We ordered hot chocolate, frappés, savoury chicken & cheese crêpes, & bought some desserts to-go - everything was amazing! While we were there during the evening, & happened to catch a beautiful view of the sunset over the water, it also makes for a great spot for a coffee break &/or brunch.
