Came in from frosty cold romantic walk along the scenic frozen landscape of the majestic Lachine with my beautiful partner. & since we were parked outside Makaya we decided to go inside & indulge in some hot chocolate. The ambience, service, decor, & chocolate beverages were spectacular. 😋 highly recommend!!!

D'abord nous recevons des verres d'eau qui goûtaient mauvais. Mon amie devait manger sans gluten, on nous recommande un poulet citronnée. C'était bon, mais il y avait à peine à manger tellement il y avait du gras & 1/3 de tasse de riz. Ensuite mon amie demande lequel dessert était sans gluten, & on lui recommande un gâteau pur cacao, elle dit ok & le serveur arrive avec le dessert... Heureusement, j'ai regardé le menu, le dessert était 18$ (Nous avons demandé à le partager)
À la toute fin, le serveur arrive avec le terminal de paiement, il me montre le total 58$ (un verre de vin pinot Grigio, cuisse de poulet & dessert partagé) je demande combien était le poulet & on me dit 27$! Aucune facture à l'appuie.
Le manque de transparence (sans facture) On avait l'impression qu'on essayait de soutirer le max.$$ Nous avions faim après.
Il faisait froid dans le restaurant. Le service était quand même courtois, mais nous ne retournerons pas.
This is my neighbourhood. So, I know that this is the only bona fide cocktail lounge on St. Joseph Boulevard. decor can be described as charmingly eclectic, with some Haitian art influences.
It's a congenial place to have a cocktail & look out over the water. I was instantly attracted to the martinis on the drink menu. The owner who served me also was the one who made my martinis. He mentioned that he made them in the New York style because of his experience in that city. I was not disappointed. So much so that I could not stop at only one martini! So, I recommend the apple & lychee martinis.
I did not have anything substantial to eat, so I do not know about the quality of the food there. Despite that, the cocktail lounge is a very welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
When my family comes to visit, I now have a congenial place to take them for some cocktails.
Nous étions très satisfaits du service & de l'ambiance. Le propriétaire est très chaleureux & s'est montré disponible tout le long. Les plats sont savoureux & bien présentés. On recommande fortement!
Je recommanderai fortement ce restaurant si vous voulez prendre un dessert .les crêpes étaient succulentes .
Pour le brunch nous étions 4 personnes & chacun de nos plats étaient fades & sans saveur : la crêpe du chef n avait aucune épice . Le poulet dans la crêpe semblait bouilli uniquement . Le riz haitien aucune épice , la ratatouille non plus aucune saveur .La salade artibonite avait trop de sauce .
Les 2 serveuses s alternaient & semblaient complètement débordées pourtant quand on est arrivées le restaurant n étaient pas encore plein . L attente était longue également. pour avoir nos lattes on a du rappeler à la serveuse numéro 2 qu' on avait commandé depuis un moment avec la serveuse 1 .
En résumé j y retournerai uniquement pour les desserts / un snack en passant . Pas pour un repas

I love , love this restaurant. I was looking forward to eating there for months now . A friend recommended it. The owner Ralph was personable , made my food on the spot after asking me a few questions . He treated my mother & I so well. We felt that we were having a private experience from the food to the service . The park across the street is a beautiful backdrop for this restaurant . I will be back & I've already share it with Friends I know are traveling to Montreal soon .
Je suis tombée sur ce restaurant par hasard, & quelle belle surprise ! J'y ai goûté des crêpes au chocolat & caramel au beurre salé, un vrai régal. En plus, le personnel était vraiment chaleureux & attentionné. Une belle découverte que je recommande sans hésiter !
Super moment ! On est allés prendre un café & des crêpes sucrées, c'était vraiment délicieux. Le service était top, & le personnel super sympa & accueillant. Franchement, une belle découverte - je recommande à 100 % !
Excellent restaurant à Lachine, tout est fait maison, accueil chaleureux j'ai pris le hachis parmentier créole un pur délice & une gaufre dulce de leche un régal, e recommande fortement, prix raisonnable pour la qualité.

On April 3rd, I had a conversation with a friend regarding my trip from Florida to Montreal, during which she recommended visiting Makaya while in Montreal. Upon arrival, while driving to my sister's residence, I inadvertently entered Makaya's address into my GPS. When I arrived, the service exceeded my expectations. Those familiar with me know that I place a high value on excellent food & exceptional service, which is often difficult to find in Florida.
Subsequent to my visit to Makaya, I conducted research on the owner, Ralp, to expand my knowledge of his background & the underlying reasons for the exceptional service, which revealed his distinguished status as a Haitian icon. The service on Sunday evening proved to be even more exceptional than the outstanding experience of Saturday night. Ralp, I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude for the superb treatment & warm hospitality I received, which culminated in an extraordinary experience; I am committed to making Makaya a regular destination during my future visits to Montreal. I offer my sincerest wishes for your continued prosperity & success.
I had the pleasure of dining at THIS Haitian Bistro, & it was truly an unforgettable experience. The spices in the dishes warmed the soul, & the chef was just as warm & accommodating, making us feel right at home. We started with the bread soup, which was an explosion of flavor-rich, comforting, & full of depth. It was more than just a dish; it was an experience. Even the PURE chocolate dessert exceeded expectations, adding a perfect touch to our meal. The vibe inside was absolutely ideal for a date, with a cozy & welcoming atmosphere that made the evening feel even more special. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy flavors in a charming setting!
What a charming spot that is a mix of a speakeasy & a salon. The chocolate is excellent, & is as sweet as the owner's Ralph attitude.
It's on the expensive side but the chocolate is imported & frankly tastes great. This is not the overly sweet milk chocolate found in grocery stores, for me it justifies the price.
We had a great time. I recommend the crepe with dulce de leche.
Quelle magnifique endroit. Un coup de coeur autant pour la cuisine que pour le service. Wow!!! Je le recommande fortement & nous allons y retourner assurément. Si vous désirez manger, choisissez l'option table mais vous avez l'option du salon où vous pouvez déguster l'un de leur extraordinaire chocolat chaud.

Tasty food, amazing service! Highly recommend :) Pumpkin soup was sooo good. Not very spicy, just perfect. Crepes were also very good. Will be coming back for sure!
The hot chocolate is exceptional & there are excellent vegan options. Ralph, the owner, is very kind & generously remade one drink that, while lovely, was not 100% to our taste. The decor is beautiful & the space is very comfortable. I would highly recommend this gem for the delicious chocolate & the extremely welcoming & kind service. A definite favorite for every trip to Montreal!
Such a cute spot with great food & desserts. We had the Maïs a la Bonne Femme, hot chocolate (try the spicy one but it is actually spicy!), the dulce de leche crepe & a salted caramel truffle. Everything was delicious & the staff was so friendly when we came in just before closing. Would recommend stopping by!
We absolutely loved it. What a great service! The owner is so welcoming, kind & generous. Had a great time chatting with him. The staff was very helpful, kind & welcoming. I had hot chocolate & a broccoli soup which was so so delicious. I Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great atmosphere with great service & delicious drinks & food. It is also located at a great location with a big parking lot right in front along with the lake view. Thank you very much 🙏🏽
