I ordered 3 teas from Chaishai Montreal (2 masala chai & 1 karak chai) after hearing a lot of good things, especially from a friend who recommended it. I personally prefer chai made with real milk rather than powdered milk, & I've tried many places that use powder, so I had higher expectations since they specialize in chai.
Before ordering, I even asked the staff, & she told me they use real milk along with a concentrate. But when I actually tried the chai, it didn't taste like it was made with real milk - it felt more like the same basic taste I've had at other places using powder.
Maybe it's because we took it to go instead of drinking it fresh there, but overall it was pretty average & didn't live up to what I expected.
Not a terrible experience, just not as good as I hoped.
Uncoordinated service (Tea arrived 10 mins later than snacks. By the time we got our drinks, we were done with all the food items)
Food okay.
Atmosphere good.
I recently ordered two pink teas for $12.50. While the price itself isn't an issue, the portion size was disappointing. The tea was served in a very small cup, filled only about 70-75% of the way.
To be fair, the pink tea tasted excellent. However, when a business charges a premium price, customers reasonably expect a corresponding portion. Offering such a small quantity at a high price leaves customers feeling undervalued. In the long run, it is far more important to retain customers through fairness & consistency than to make a quick profit at their expense.
Even with great taste, customers may hesitate to return if they feel they aren't receiving good value. For comparison, Chai Wala offers a more generous portion at a more reasonable price.
I hope the business considers adjusting its portion sizes to better align with the pricing, as this would greatly enhance the overall customer experience.
So wonderful to happen apon this little treasure while visiting Montreal. Such a lovely, helpful & smiley young lady serving.. & the chef was so welcoming & friendly. I even got tips on the onion Bahjia, which were perfect. We had the specials, so delish. Food here seems traditional, with the homemade taste & feel. Don't miss the chai tea.. really enjoyed that too.
Hard to rate the atmosphere as it was late & quiet. But the decor is very colourful & very clean. We don't mind waiting for'fresh food' cooked to order. So worth the wait. Thank you son, for the recommendation. We'll be back.
(Was truly hungry so no pics.. tucked straight in!)
It's my second time here am so satisfied, the food is always amazing clean place nice people around & whole team is nice
& I would to thank (Hiba) such a beautiful girl working there she is sooo nice good service very compressive I loved here ♥?♥?♥?♥?♥?
I had ordered snacks ( allo tikki chaat & dahi puri) & tea. Very nice ambience & location.
While the food is usually great the service tonight was awful. The server was overwhelmed. I had to ask for cutlery multiple times. The table was not cleaned. I asked for napkins & cleaned it myself because the server didn't bother. Kashmiri Chai usually my favorite was served cold. I specifically asked for no sugar tea but was served tea with sugar. Very disappointing experience.
Exceptional Food & Service! I ordered catering from Chaïshaï on January 1st for my boyfriend's surprise birthday, & I couldn't be happier with my experience. The food presentation was absolutely amazing, & every dish was incredibly fresh & delicious. All our guests loved the food! What truly stood out was the exceptional service. The owners went above & beyond by personally delivering the food to my home to help make the surprise even more special. Their care & dedication truly made a difference. Chaïshaï serves the best Indian home-style food in Montreal, made with so much love & attention to detail. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic, flavorful Indian cuisine. A big thank you to the team at Chaïshaï for making the day so memorable
Love this place, feels cozy al& warm. The staff is very friendly, we had some delicious Indian cuisine. Highly recommended. Just on the note, the waiting is a bit long, so get some tea while you're waiting
The food was so good. Paaani pooori & tea is the must try.. The service was so good in special Hiba thanks for your hospitality
We had karak chai (tea) , vegetable samosa & gulab jamun cheesecake today & believe me it was the best chai & samosa I have had in Montreal! 👏🏻 Highly recommended desi Inidan/Pakistani restaurant. ☕️ Edit: we went again & tried Masala Fries & they were super hit 🤤 must try!! Edit2: so tried their Aloo tikki Sliders & they were a hit too! Recommended!!!! 👍🏻
We visited on a week day. Food was delicious, perfectly cooked chicken , thick butter chicken gravy as expected & crispy puri with Anar Dana Yummy 😋 blended taste. Ordered all items together butter chicken Chicken Haryali roll , dahi puri & Tea. Requested to get Tea later & serve all the other things together. Service was very very slow ... each item came on our table after a gap of 15min. The whole order was supposed to be shared with each of us munching from each other's plate.
We had an amazing experience having our private event at chai shai! Service was top notch & Nahid did an amazing job planning the event with us to ensure our bridal shower high tea was an amazing experience for everyone who attended!
Best Pakistani food! The tea is exceptional, perfectly complemented by delicious, masala fries. It's a comfortable spot to unwind & savor a tasty treat. Thanks Vishali for being such a wonderful host.
Really great Indian street food "chowpatti". The resto is Kashmiri (part in India, part in Pakistan), so there's a good mix of veg & non-veg, along with Kashmiri specialities like tea & desserts. I highly recommend the butter chicken poutine, great flavor, tasty sauce, good portions.
Thank you Aakansha. Excellent Service & Masala Tea was awesome. Restaurant was very clean & ambience was good.
It is a new place in the city to enjoy Indian tea.
I came to know about this place when owner was interviewed on the CBC radio.
Check it out.
I was visiting the area from Vancouver. The décor is nice. Very warm & low-key that I love. My one suggestion for improvement would be serving chai in actual mugs & not the disposable ones.
Tea always taste better that way & it is far more sustainable & environmentally friendly that having to throw cups out after single use.
I tried the Kashmiri chai & Masala chai. Prefer the masala chai.
