We were 3 people at our table each meal was served 15 mins apart.
I ordered the green curry chicken.
It was my mistake, 3 pieces of boiled chicken with skin & steamed rice.. To be fair, my friends enjoyed their meals, pad Thai & braised beef & noodles.
This place seems very popular so many must enjoy it.
The best thai restaurant in Montreal! Im absolutely blown away by the flavour & thé authenticity of the dishes. I got the pad thai & dry noodles. Phenomenal. Highly recommend the thai green tea milk tea, refreshing! Nothing bad to say!
We've been to this place twice now, the fried chicken is absolutely great! We also tried the noodles & rice, but they're not as special as the chicken. & don't forget the Thai milk tea - it's a refreshing treat. Overall, it was a great experience, & we'll definitely be back!
I love noodles & I was so excited to see this place as they have all sorts of Thai noodles. I wanted to have all the noodles on menu but of course I couldn't so let be realistic I ordered boat noodles as this dish is not easy to find in general. Turned out it didn't let me down, good portion, hot & tasty. Even better when they provided some extra seasoning to add at your soup ( if you like it more spicy or sweeter ). The place has indoor & outdoor area. Staff are friendly, I will go there again to try other dishes. Forgot to mention I also ordered take away rice with pork belly basil & it was wonderful too.
The food was a bit disappointing. I was very excited to hear this place had boat noodles as I fell in love with in when I was in Thailand. However, the broth was not good. It was very thick & foggy - looked like the broth was made without removing the meat scum. You can see it in the photo.
We also had one of their dry noodles which had no flavour.
The pork ball was alright, a bit on the mushy side. The beef/ pork slices were good though. It had a nice texture & flavour to it.
I wouldn't come back… it's not worth the 20$ per bowl.
Might be the only place in the city that does boat noodles! Definitely a treat worth seeking out if you can as they're pretty rare to find on most thai restaurant menus in the city!
The noodles were overall great & made like how I remember in Bangkok down to the thai basil!
The waitress recommended Braised beef noodle to me. It's delicious with extremely strong flavours. Quite oily & heavy to me, but I still think it's good. Little bit dehydrated after eating this, but if you're looking for something strong & full of umami & spices, this is your go-to!
I tried Tom Yum noodles that had one spicy mark out of four. It was good.
I've been to Mae Sri in Downtown twice, & I've tried both Pad Thai & Tom Yum noodles. The Tom Yum noodles in Downtown had three spicy marks out of four.
I think they use different recipes.
Mae Sri Comptoir Thai in Montreal has a charming, intimate ambiance, but our recent visit had a rough start. Arriving around noon, about 30 minutes after opening, we were met with an unpleasant sewage-like odor in the restaurant that lingered throughout our meal, unfortunately detracting from the overall atmosphere.
The QR code for the menu wasn't working, though the server quickly offered to airdrop it, which was a nice, tech-savvy workaround. Our food arrived promptly, & prices were reasonable for the portion sizes. The Pad See Ew noodles were served a bit more al dente than we prefer. The dry noodle dishes had a flavor profile that leaned milder than traditional - not as savoury as they traditionally are. The papaya salad could have used a little more zest as well, but the Thai iced tea was refreshing & enjoyable.
Overall, Mae Sri Comptoir Thai is decent, with fair pricing & good service, but it may not be our top pick for Thai food in Montreal.
We were 6, & we all enjoyed our food. I ordered a braised beef noodle soup, it was delicious!
Loved the Tom Yum noodle soup. Super authentic & flavorful. Highly recommend!
Absolutely delicious pad see ew. The best part of the noodles was that they were chewy. Very good flavour too.
Only downside was that the portion was quite small. I could probably eat 1.5x the amount given.
I went there randomly. The best decision made. I ordered chicken noodles soup & my friend ordered green chicken curry. The food was good. Service was great. The food was served quick. Since it was a very cold day, they even offered hot water as option. Highly recommended
Great authenticity. The todmun hai is on point. Except the broth stock should be consistent with chicken not beef. The beef stock didn't pair as well with the gai. We had street noodle quiew tiew dry moo was excellent included with fixing that you'd discover with Thai street food. & last dish was the crispy pork. Good as well. The atmosphere was cramped & busy. Not my preference. But the food flavors made it worth it. Overall great service & well attentive & friendly.
I'm always very skeptical trying Thai food in North America due to it being inauthentic to the real deal. . I ordered chicken rice & my friend ordered chicken noodle soup & we got two drinks. I've had much experience of Southeast Asian food & as soon as I walked into the restaurant as I smelt the aroma inside the restaurant, it was very nostalgic & it was very authentic. I could tell immediately that the food probably is very close to being as authentic as & good as it can be. The chicken rice was really good & the soup was amazing. My friend's chicken noodle soup was also very authentic. It was very comforting to have food like this in the winter. I really regret not trying that tom yum soup I will try it when I return. The reason why I'm giving four stars . the major downside to this are the drinks are absolutely horrendous & taste horrible. The drinks itself are traditional drinks that you would find in Thailand or Southeast Asia but I don't know what sugar they use because it tastes very very artificial. The artificial sweeteners or whatever they use completely make the drink inedible & disgusting. Me & my friend did not even finish half of the drink & we just left it. We will return to the shop in the future.
Great food with good flavour. The beef stew noodle soup reminds me of some Chinese beef stew I had when I was younger. Price is reasonable. Would go again.
Yummy food. I had a beef noodle dish & Thai Iced Tea. Interestingly, you wait to be seated, sit, look at the menu & stand up & order & pay at the counter & then bring a number back to your table.
The pad see ew was really good. The texture of the noodles were the highlight, retaining a bit of chew compared to a lot of other pad see ew place. The pad kra pow was also really good, but the heat was missing. I don't think they used thai chilies so it was slightly disappointing. The Thai milk tea & the Thai lemon tea were both delicious.
