I don't love a QR code menu as it can be finicky - it wouldn't load properly so you could see some pages of the menu but not others. We didn't need to make a reservation & were seated upon arrival. Service was straightforward. The employees were kind & helpful. The food came out pretty quickly. The pad see ew was very black peppery in aroma right off the bat. Upon tasting, it was too sweet, which was disappointing. The other dishes at my table looked & smelled better soit could be that it's just a matter of preference / off day.
No service at all, we need to go to the counter to order & to pay, long time to wait for the dishes, which are not as good as I expected, quite expensive, I should have made myself an instant noodle at home
The food itself was good but not sure this is an authentic Thai place. It has very few of the classic authentic dishes you can find everywhere in Thailand. Along with meager meat portions which lowkey feel rationed.
The best thai restaurant in Montreal! Im absolutely blown away by the flavour & thé authenticity of the dishes. I got the pad thai & dry noodles. Phenomenal. Highly recommend the thai green tea milk tea, refreshing! Nothing bad to say!
I love noodles & I was so excited to see this place as they have all sorts of Thai noodles. I wanted to have all the noodles on menu but of course I couldn't so let be realistic I ordered boat noodles as this dish is not easy to find in general. Turned out it didn't let me down, good portion, hot & tasty. Even better when they provided some extra seasoning to add at your soup ( if you like it more spicy or sweeter ). The place has indoor & outdoor area. Staff are friendly, I will go there again to try other dishes. Forgot to mention I also ordered take away rice with pork belly basil & it was wonderful too.
Fantastic lunch at a great spot, we asked for extra spicy (Thai level spice) & they delivered. Lots of variety on the menu so my girlfriend & I ordered several dishes each. Great relaxed atmosphere with a friendly & approachable staff - what more can you ask for other than great food, fast!
Mae Sri Comptoir Thai in Montreal has a charming, intimate ambiance, but our recent visit had a rough start. Arriving around noon, about 30 minutes after opening, we were met with an unpleasant sewage-like odor in the restaurant that lingered throughout our meal, unfortunately detracting from the overall atmosphere.
The QR code for the menu wasn't working, though the server quickly offered to airdrop it, which was a nice, tech-savvy workaround. Our food arrived promptly, & prices were reasonable for the portion sizes. The Pad See Ew noodles were served a bit more al dente than we prefer. The dry noodle dishes had a flavor profile that leaned milder than traditional - not as savoury as they traditionally are. The papaya salad could have used a little more zest as well, but the Thai iced tea was refreshing & enjoyable.
Overall, Mae Sri Comptoir Thai is decent, with fair pricing & good service, but it may not be our top pick for Thai food in Montreal.
The presentation of the dishes was impressive, but unfortunately, the flavors didn't match the appearance. We were expecting more taste, but the dishes were quite bland, which was a bit disappointing.
Cozy little room with beautiful mood lighting. Attentive service. The food is outstanding, incredible depth of flavour, perfectly sized portions. Interesting presentation; the meats in most rice dishes are chopped, which allows balance when eating all elements on the plate. One of my favourite restaurants anywhere.
Inconsistent food quality is the biggest letdown here. Some days, the dishes are tasty & great value, representing a very accessible Thai food experience. Other days, the portioning is stingy & the food is mediocre, with heavy MSG flavors more noticeable than the ingredients themselves. As a specific example, on a good day (30% of the time), the Hainan steamed chicken rice is a spectacular dish, where the rice is aromatic with chicken oils & herbs, & the chicken is juicy but not fatty. On a bad day, the chicken is flavorless & rubbery, the rice tastes bland with too much herb & too little chicken oils, & the dish leaves much to be desired. I am a regular, & unfortunately it seems the consistency is worsening. Back in the day (3-5 years ago), I would have given 5 stars.
This place has fancy decorations. But the food is so average. Some of the food just tastes straight bland. Pork doesn't have a taste. Soupy dishes look like packaged sauce, not sure how fresh.
There on Sunday & no utensils or water were provided, the staff gave it to the next table..... Creative street food style amazed us. A bit salty but overall all the dishes are good, reasonable price & great staff who can answer your questions on the Thai noodles.
The best Tom Yum outside Thailand, Mango Sticky Rice - good, but not perfect, other dishes - a lottery. Very slow & unintuitive service. Better order everything at once, reordering is a hustle.
