The spot if you're looking for that salty & rich flavour!! Very busy, but worth waiting 20 minutes to go eat in the park right after.
Incroyable poulet portugais & poutine poulet chorizo ! Je recommande 🇵🇹
Their loaded poutine with their Portuguese chicken & chorizo is out of this world (& I am normally a poutine purest who doesn't like anything but a classic poutine). Their chicken plates are also delicious & their desserts hit the spot. Prices are extremely reasonable in a 2025 context.
Fun, college vibe with amazing food! The chicken was moist & the skin was so crispy! We also enjoyed the chorizo, sandwich, poutine, & tart. Definitely recommend.
I visited around 8:00 pm on a Saturday, so it was pretty busy, but the line moved quickly. It took about 10-15 minutes from getting in line to receiving my order. I got the iconic poutine & a pastel de nata.
Poutine: My god, everything about this poutine was amazing. It was like a sample of everything Ma Poule Mouillée has to offer. The fries were thick & crispy, though a lot did get soggy from the gravy. The gravy itself had amazing flavor. The chorizo was bomb. The curds had a great chew. But the best part was the chicken -- extremely tender & smoky, hands down, the best chicken I've ever had. With all those fries & meat & curds & the gravy, you'd think it'd be super salty, but it wasn't. I got a small & it was HUUUUUGE, it lasted a few meals for me.
Pastel de nata: Highly recommend getting one. You get a nice caramelized taste from the top of the custard. The custard itself had a rosy flavor too, & it was so thick & smooth. It was probably a few hours old, but it still had a crispy & flaky crust, & the bottom had a scorched flavor that was actually pretty tasty.
Delicious portugese chicken? Check.
A poutine with chicken & chorizo added to the mix? Check. Without a doubt, my favorite poutine in town.
& the prices? You definitely get your money's worth.
All of the above makes this place a local favorite.
...which also explains the line ups in front from time to time.
Fast service & the food is great! I would totally recommend their chicken & chorizo poutine
"Ma Poule Mouillée" est reconnue pour son poulet portugais savoureux, sa poutine au chorizo unique & ses portions généreuses offrant un excellent rapport qualité -prix. Le service, malgré l'affluence, est rapide & chaleureux, & l'ambiance conviviale reste agréable même en période de forte affluence.
jai recomande chef Djebbari Syphax
Our go to place for Portuguese chicken, chorizo or pasteis de nata. We've tried many different spots, & this is by far our favourite. Would highly recommend!
C'est dûr d'avoir une place assise, & quand c'est moi qui commande épicé à la place de mon chum, c'est toujours moins épicé que ça devrait, mais ça reste la meilleure poutine à Montréal grâce au poulet & au chorizo.
Maybe the best chicken in Montreal, definitely the best Portuguese style chicken. Must try the chicken sandwich with salad & fries. Also the poutine is incredible topped with chicken & chorizo. If the weather is nice, take it to go & go eat in the park.
Best Portuguese chicken in town! The food is always fresh, with generous portions at a great price. Their chicken is perfectly cooked, with options for spicy or mild to suit any taste. The chicken sandwiches are loaded with flavor, & the chorizo is smoky, juicy, & a must-try. The combos are a fantastic deal, & the chicken salad meals are fresh & filling. The poutine is absolutely delicious, especially with chicken, chorizo, or a mix of both-it's the perfect comfort food. This spot is always busy for a reason. Highly recommend for authentic & flavorful Portuguese dishes!
Always the best place to eat a poutine! The spicy sauce is a must & for vegetarians, just ask for it & you get extra cheese & no chorizo/chicken ;) P.S. if you still have room for dessert, don't forget to grab a few natas!
Portuguese chicken poutine was very good. Got a small. Portion sizes are good. I had ordered the chicken & chorizo poutine but didn't get any chorizo. Maybe lost in translation. Service is quick. Atmosphere is decent.
Located in the Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood of town, Ma Poulle Mouillée is a very popular, no-frills spot that's as famous for it's insanely long lines & wait times as it is for their succulent Portuguese style chicken. & while trying to get that aforementioned chicken can easily require standing in a line anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes, most loyalists would say that it's absolutely worth the trouble & I would agree. Jean-Jacques Rousseau once said "Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet" & boy was he right. The chicken coming out of this place is absolutely insane. It's full of flavor, it's moist & it is one of the bites of food I've had in a very long time. Depending on what you order, the contents of your box might change a bit but I recommend you get the "Le Tremblay" option for $16CAD which features some chicken breast, a ton of fries & a side salad of greens with shaved carrots in a delicious vinaigrette. Don't share, just chow down in shame. It's greasy, it's tasty & full of flavor. If you're super hungry (you must be American - hi!) you can get other, larger options: ones with chorizo or even befana & while the first is scrumptious, the befana was nothing to write home about & ordering it isn't something I'd do again. Honestly the Tremblay is plenty of food. Service wasn't particularly friendly or fast - but man, it just doesn't matter. Just get in line & you'll be rewarded with a Portuguese feast which shines some spotlight on a cultural piece of Montreal that few other places can showcase as well. A+
Visited given the publicity & recommendations. Tasty poutine with chicken & chorizo but found it the gravy a bit salty. Grilled chicken was succulent & well seasoned.
Went to Ma Poule Mouillée after a couple friends recommended it to me & it definitely did not disappoint! There was a line up when we arrived but it didn't take too long, maybe 10 mins? Ordering was very easy, menu was everywhere & easy to read. Highly recommend anything with the chicken + chorizo sausage! Both taste so good! The only thing is there is not a lot of seating. There is a park nearby if you want to take out & eat there.
Thicccccccc boy portions & so worth it for the value. Shared it among 3 big growing manz & i wasn't stuffed by any means but def hit the spot. Portuguese chicken on top was juicy juicyyy yum yum. Although, chorizo with the poutine was kind of mid. Fries were freshhhh. First time I went here & I barely dented it when I ate it by myself so 100% should share with at least 1 other person. Will always hit it up anytime I'm back in MTL lezzzz go
I ordered the small poutine & ate it at La Fontaine park nearby. I loved the chicken, cheese, & fries, but the chorizo wasn't necessary in my opinion & I wish the gravy wasn't thickened with cornstarch. However this was my first intro into Canadian poutine so I have nothing to compare it with.
