Service was okay, staff were generally friendly. The poutine itself came out okay. The grilled chicken was delicious, & sausage was flavourful, but the fries itself were cold & already made. It made eating the poutine itself difficult as the fries were cold & lacking in gravy. Overall, I would come back specifically for the chicken.
Pretty solid poutine!
Never been much of a great poutine fan but I'd have to say the one I've had here left quite an impression & made me think otherwise.
Most poutine sold are simple & plain with just the gravy & the cheese curds, but Ma Poule Mouillée manages to change that by putting a creative spin on their dishes by offering a wide selection of different toppings & combinations, of which have been interesting to see, & hard to choose.
For myself, I had a La Scooby, which consisted of the regular poutine, with beef, deep fried pickles, bacon & cheese. It's really good, & the staff here are also friendly & food comes out relatively quick!
We did not have to wait for a table for 2, & thought we were lucky because the place was absolutely packed when we were seated. This also might be due to the bad weather at the time, but we were there around 1:30pm, on a weekend too.
The seating area however can be a bit cramped, so I find myself having to shift my chair in & out constantly to let people pass through.
Otherwise, I think it's a great stop for poutine if you're visiting Montreal! Worth every penny.
Superb poutine in a small location. Very little seating. Friendly staff. Very busy, expect to queue. Top tip: you do not need the large poutine unless you're a family of four 😁 (picture is of'small', which I still couldn't finish)
As a lover of Portuguese chicken, I had to try this place & I was not disappointed. The poutine is hands down one of the best deals in the city. The portion size was huge (easily two full, delicious meals), & the flavor balance was spot on. I expected something heavy or greasy, but even with the chorizo, it wasn't overly fatty at all just perfectly rich & flavorful. The chicken itself was excellent, & the service was quick & friendly. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fresh, modern twist on classic poutine.
Large size poutine needs at least 3 people to finish, regular size is good for 2 people. Poutine was delicious - fries were crispy, chicken & sausage toppings mixed well, cheese curds & gravy are top notch. Custard tart was a hit as well.
Line moves fast & staff are kind while moving quick!
Went here because of Somebody Feed Phil. 100% would come again. Enormous portion size, & every component was delicious. I got the half chicken with fries & salad. Authentic, filling, & thoughtful.
Excellent chicken & poutine, friendly customer service. Went on a rainy day & it was a perfect hearty meal. Will definitely be back!
Ordered their chicken with fries & salad... Chicken was amazing...crispy skin & juicy inside with so much flavor...well seasoned & crispy fries...will definitely come back again....
We waited 1 hour in line a Tuesday evening.
Price wise, it's insanely great! We had a large poutine shared me & my boyfriend & the portion is huge enough to have us completely in food coma.
The poutine overall was very good, the Portuguese sausages in it slapped! & the meat was generous. Only thing to take note, is that since they undo the chicken right before building tue poutine, there will be bits of cartilage. It got me by surprised, some of my friends weren't fan of it.
We tried the Portuguese chicken & poutine here. The chicken itself was juicy & cooked well, but it was missing that bold peri peri flavor I was hoping for - it felt a little underwhelming. The poutine was generous, but honestly had way too many cheese curds, which threw off the balance with the gravy & fries. On top of that, the ladies working at the counter were pretty rude, which made the experience less enjoyable. The tables were dirty & not cleaned after previous customers. Overall the food was okay, but the service, cleanliness & details need improvement.
My friend & I sat with some lovely people who shared their table. There is a line up but it is worth the wait. I love their fries & will try their poutine next time. I got a half chicken meal.
Best Portuguese chicken in town, chicken is tender & delicious, the fries are tasty there's most of time à line up but it's totally worth the wait. Totally recommand.
I love Portuguese chicken & I love poutine, safe to say I loved the #8 chicken & sausage poutine here. It was a long wait even when we didn't start waiting outside, so be prepared. However, their poutine is my personal favourite in the city & well worth the wait.
The fries are potatoey, thick, but still crispy, the cheese curds are classic & squeaky, gravy reminded me of the flavourful sauce of a Portuguese francesinha, & the chicken & sausages were juicy & flavourful with spices & flame grilled essence. Great value as well.
Poutin gravy is really salty. Chicken & fries are OK. You get a lot of food for your money
Chicken was overcooked & dry but their salad dressing is amazingly good! Service was quick for take out & staff members were super friend
If you plan on dining in, then plan ahead as the line is super long
I visited around 8:00 pm on a Saturday, so it was pretty busy, but the line moved quickly. It took about 10-15 minutes from getting in line to receiving my order. I got the iconic poutine & a pastel de nata.
Poutine: My god, everything about this poutine was amazing. It was like a sample of everything Ma Poule Mouillée has to offer. The fries were thick & crispy, though a lot did get soggy from the gravy. The gravy itself had amazing flavor. The chorizo was bomb. The curds had a great chew. But the best part was the chicken -- extremely tender & smoky, hands down, the best chicken I've ever had. With all those fries & meat & curds & the gravy, you'd think it'd be super salty, but it wasn't. I got a small & it was HUUUUUGE, it lasted a few meals for me.
Pastel de nata: Highly recommend getting one. You get a nice caramelized taste from the top of the custard. The custard itself had a rosy flavor too, & it was so thick & smooth. It was probably a few hours old, but it still had a crispy & flaky crust, & the bottom had a scorched flavor that was actually pretty tasty.
Great place to eat at a good price, staff was kind & friendly!
Delicious grilled chicken, friendly service, & great prices-overall, a fantastic spot for lunch or dinner!
