Overall, reviews of Lou's Restaurant describe a dining experience that many find delicious and inviting, with standout dishes, well crafted cocktails and a wine list that complements the menu. The food is frequently praised for freshness and flavor, from tuna carpaccio and pasta dishes to burgers and desserts like bread pudding. The atmosphere is described as cozy, stylish, and welcoming, with a neighborhood vibe that many appreciate for dates or casual dinners and even private events. Service is variable, ranging from attentive, knowledgeable and friendly to slower, less consistent experiences with occasional delays or miscommunications, though staff are commonly described as kind and helpful. Noise levels and portions are recurring themes, with some finding the room pleasantly lively and others finding it loud or the portions small for the price, yet many guests leave impressed and eager to return.
I will go back 100% for drinks & the vibe, especially the terasse! But food wise, other than the bread (love the butter garlic spread) was wayyyy too pricey for what it is. A pasta plate (minus the crumble meat in the sauce) for 28 dollars with about 20 pieces of rigatoni…… my toddler eats more than that! I left still hungry. The person I was with had a tasty burger with a food portioned salad with no fries for the same price but they could of added the fries come on :)
Went to Lou's last night for date night with my husband. We order 2 glasses of wine by the glass. The red wine was chilled, poured in a very small glass. The portion was very small, about 2 ounces. The waitress started off nice upon arrival but things went bad once appetizers arrived. Although the baked scallops were tasty, the portion (3 tiny ones) was less than generous. We split it between the 2 of us. We had ordered a salad to split as well. The busboy brought us a french fries.I stated we did not order that, he seemed a little surprised & said it's on the house. Our mains arrived, which were quite good(parpadelle). The portion was generous , however a bit pricey. We never got the salad. At that point when the waitress finally came halfway though our meals, she wanted to clarify we ordered scallops & fries. I told her we ordered salad not fries, but to forget about salad now as we were finishing our meals. I also told her the conversation I had with busboy (on the house fries). Her attitude shifted at that point. My husband offered to pay for fries , she said it's ok she will take care of it, as it was a misunderstanding. There was no apology for error . We felt the blame was shifted on us. This ruined our evening. We won't be going back.

Great restaurant!
We loved everything we tried. Brioche bread with garlic butter, the ravioli & papparedelles, steak, Caesar salad & chocolate cake. All delicious! My favourite was the ravioli.
The service by Hanna & Jacob was exceptional.
What a gem… The atmosphere & staff immediately make you feel so welcome & warm. The drinks are very unique & tasty, surprised they had Guinness on tap & it was up to par. We shared the Caesar salad & the half chicken, so tasty ! You can tell they care in the little details, the menus & coasters are beautiful, they continuously fill your water glass as the evening goes by & are attentive to all your needs. Super clean & cute bathrooms. I'd recommend Lou's for a date night or a nice dinner out with friends. Special shout out to our talented bar tender Daniel & Ryan who made sure we had exactly what we needed, when we needed it. The manager Jono was super friendly & accommodating; 11/10 !
Amazing evening at Lou's. Sat at the bar & was served by the sweetest waitress/bartender ever Haylo! She was amazing. She gave us great recommendations. The food was delicious with amazing presentation & they were very assiduous with the cutlery, plate changes, water, drinks, etc. We highly recommend the tuna carp, the cesar salad, crab cake, the scallops, the brioche, the rigatoni. I forget the name of the dessert but like just look at it like unbelievably yum. Seriously great fun cozy vibes, good drinks, good service, amazing food. 10/10 would recommend.
Dinner for 4. We got 3 starters: crab cake, crispy brussle sprouts & the house buns.
Sprouts were amazing, buns were good, crab cake was just ok.
4 mains: pasta vodka, pasta be obese & 2 burgers. Both pastas were great & the burgers were also quite good, can do salad or fries & get a good portion either way.
1 chocolate cake. This was super good.
We also got Gin fizz, & coffee negroni. The negroni was awesome.
It was LOUD in there, we could still talk but it was nice to walk out to the quiet street after wards. But overall, really enjoyed the experience there. We totalled over $300
Service was incredibly slow…. Awkwardly so. We considered getting up & leaving because we didn't think we would ever be served. Seated at the table 25mins before our drinks were served. Orders were taken about 10 mins later. Food started to arrive just after an hour & 15 mins at the table…. (We ordered apps & salads).
The main dining room wasn't even close to being full so it's not like they were overly busy.
They only want to give you 2 hrs per seating but took 75 mins to get us our food.
The restaurant was extremely loud to begin with but it was compounded by the fact that the front door kept being opened & closed as the staff went outside to serve people on the patio. Every time the door opened & closed it slammed with a bang due to the pressure differential.
I won't go back…there are just too many other, better choices out there. It seems that there is a huge drop off in hospitality between restaurants in the West Island & downtown Montreal.

Where to start! We went for a girls night dinner on the terrasse & starting with the Spicy Marg, to the Parker Rolls & the Caesar salad everything was delish :) but the Papardelle with braised short rib was next level! A HUGE shoutout to our server Gaby as well. The service was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Thank you Gaby!
We were lucky to have a nice seat on Thursday night without reservation. Very nice restaurant with friendly & professional staff. We loved the beef tartare & the pasta. The salmon on the picture had the skin but the one I ordered didn't - I prefer the skin 😆 all good & we will come back. One suggestion: I didn't expect to see burger & Cesar salad as a main dish on dinner menu in a restaurant like this… the chicken & salmon options aren't too exiting as well.
Caesar salad was really good, pastas were good too just came out cold-ish
All tables full on a Tuesday
Really good service
Lights could have been more dimmed but that's just my opinion
Overall great addition to the West Island!
My husband & I really enjoyed our night! We unknowingly reserved for the bar which unbeknownst to us, was very pleasant. Our bartender Addy was simply wonderful & we got to know the restaurant on a much more intimate level! The food was exceptional & you can tell how much work & dedication the chefs put into every dish. Highly recommend the tuna carpaccio & the scallops which were divine! Also the Caesar salad & the rigatoni were phenomenal. A hidden gem in the West, will definitely be returning!

Service was exceptional, drinks delicious, but unfortunately main course for 6 out of 7 diners was served cold. Furthermore, the dishes were not the same as earlier visits, not enough sauce in the pasta, salad leaves whole, no vinaigrette on half the salad, bread pudding underwhelming. Several diners had already been a few times, enjoyed their meals. Perhaps trying a new chef? We won't go again.
We just had dinner here, we've been excited to try it since it opened in the village. The food was good. The crab cake was delish! Mmm. The braised beef pappardelle - pasta Genovese was good but not to die for. But, it was way way too hot. We asked the waitress if the ac is working she replied "oh yes it is fully on, it's a small space & doors are open all the time & I'm hot too...". It was also very loud. It's very small & very loud though esthetically pretty. My first choice was the Caesar salad, but I wanted some chicken on it. So I asked & the waitress & she said they can't do it...even though they have a roasted chicken dish. Then I debated the burger, but wanted to substitute the fries for a Caesar salad. She quickly replied "it's company policy we can't do that..." umm... 🙄 Odd as they have a bowl of salad as a meal ( no chicken offered yet they serve chicken as a meal...) very rarely do we come across a restaurant that can't alter or modify things to make customer happy especially a nicer place like this one that isn't a huge chain. The wine & beer were very small for the cost- the beer wasn't even a pint for $9. Overall we didn't enjoy the experience fully. We wouldn't come back unless it was for someone's birthday for example.
