Overall, reviews of Lou's Restaurant describe a dining experience that many find delicious and inviting, with standout dishes, well crafted cocktails and a wine list that complements the menu. The food is frequently praised for freshness and flavor, from tuna carpaccio and pasta dishes to burgers and desserts like bread pudding. The atmosphere is described as cozy, stylish, and welcoming, with a neighborhood vibe that many appreciate for dates or casual dinners and even private events. Noise levels and portions are recurring themes, with some finding the room pleasantly lively and others finding it loud or the portions small for the price, yet many guests leave impressed and eager to return.
The absolute best fine dining restaurant in West Island. Best burger, best striploin, best mayo, best bourbon salted caramel dessert & best scallops I've had in the whole Montreal region. Highly recommended. This restaurant is TOP quality. I barely write reviews but I had to for this restaurant.

Had a fantastic evening group of seven ladies, & the experience was flawless from start to finish. Finding a spot that handles a larger group with such grace can be a challenge, but this restaurant nailed it.
Exceptional Service
The absolute highlight of our night was our server, Haylo. Managing a group of seven can be like herding cats, but Haylo was attentive, witty, & perfectly timed with every course. We never felt rushed, yet our glasses were never empty-truly top-tier hospitality that made us feel like VIPs.
The Flavors
We shared a variety of dishes & cocktails, & a few items truly stole the show:
• Rosemary Gin Fizz: This was a masterclass in balance. The piney fragrance of the rosemary paired beautifully with the botanical gin, making for a refreshingly sophisticated start to the evening.
• Pasta Genovese: Rich, savory, & deeply comforting. The depth of flavor in the sauce suggested a lot of patience in the kitchen; it was easily the table favorite.
• Roasted Half Chicken: It's rare to find a roasted chicken that is both incredibly juicy on the inside & perfectly crisp on the outside. It was seasoned to perfection & served as the ideal anchor for our shared meal.
Final Verdict
If you are looking for a place that combines a vibrant atmosphere with high-quality cuisine & service that actually cares, look no further. Whether you're a group of seven or a party of two, this place delivers. Ask for Haylo-you won't regret it!
Saturday, we were a family of 5 + child. An involuntary gasp escaped when I saw the price of our meal, especially with the quality of food. Salmon & chicken dishes were dry, three limp scallops (& plate) covered in tasteless moist bread crumbs (salt, pepper, seasoning?), Hollandaise sauce on 5-6 six-inch asparagus pieces ($23) was tasteless. The hamburger passed the taste lest at $28. A bottle of wine sat before us unopened until we went to the bar to ask for a corkscrew; a beer never arrived as well as a small morsel of bread while we waited for our meal. Question: Who are these people that have praised this restaurant? Answer: People with no taste buds.
I will go back 100% for drinks & the vibe, especially the terasse! But food wise, other than the bread (love the butter garlic spread) was wayyyy too pricey for what it is. A pasta plate (minus the crumble meat in the sauce) for 28 dollars with about 20 pieces of rigatoni…… my toddler eats more than that! I left still hungry. The person I was with had a tasty burger with a food portioned salad with no fries for the same price but they could of added the fries come on :)
Went to Lou's last night for date night with my husband. We order 2 glasses of wine by the glass. The red wine was chilled, poured in a very small glass. The portion was very small, about 2 ounces. The waitress started off nice upon arrival but things went bad once appetizers arrived. Although the baked scallops were tasty, the portion (3 tiny ones) was less than generous. We split it between the 2 of us. We had ordered a salad to split as well. The busboy brought us a french fries.I stated we did not order that, he seemed a little surprised & said it's on the house. Our mains arrived, which were quite good(parpadelle). The portion was generous , however a bit pricey. We never got the salad. At that point when the waitress finally came halfway though our meals, she wanted to clarify we ordered scallops & fries. I told her we ordered salad not fries, but to forget about salad now as we were finishing our meals. I also told her the conversation I had with busboy (on the house fries). Her attitude shifted at that point. My husband offered to pay for fries , she said it's ok she will take care of it, as it was a misunderstanding. There was no apology for error . We felt the blame was shifted on us. This ruined our evening. We won't be going back.
We had a great anniversary weekend at Lou's. It's been 3 years since we celebrate our anniversary together there. This year was more special because of the service we have received from Emma, & special shots from the manager!! 🍷
We were three 17-year-old girls going out for dinner, & the experience was really disappointing. The food was very average & honestly lacked flavor-it needed salt & overall just wasn't good.
The worst part happened when we were paying. One of us covered the bill, & the waitress started complaining in a very rude way because we didn't leave a tip. She kept insisting & trying to pressure us into leaving one, saying that'people usually tip,' even though the service was not good at all.
She even went to get her manager, who checked our bill-which was already paid, & honestly not something she should be reviewing at that point. It made us feel very uncomfortable.
On top of that, the staff gave us rude looks & made us feel like we were being pushed out of the restaurant.
Overall, it was a very unprofessional experience with poor service. We definitely wouldn't come back.
I forgot to mention in my review that the waitress asked how we found our service to be, as if she was not satisfied with the $50 dollar tip. She, who took our orders, left an unopened bottle of wine in front of us until one of us went to the bar for a corkscrew, left out an order of beer, and never saw her again - until.... The busboy was great! He filled our glasses of water and served the food.
My partner & I had a dinner date here a few weeks ago & received the worst service we've ever experienced. Our waitress took our order & then ignored us/abandoned us the rest of the night. She didn't inform us that she had messed up our food order & we ended up waiting over forty-five minutes for a plate of pasta. I also had to refill our own water but thankfully was right next to the water station!
A very kind busboy ended up serving us the rest of the night & even offered us free cake & bread for the inconvenience!!
Our waitress ended up only coming back to bring the check & get gratuity. It's unfortunate when employees bring their personal problems to work & let it affect the service.
Unfortunately we'll only be back if some staff members learn to leave the drama at home & stop gossiping on the job. Tuna carpaccio was yummy tho!!
I was quite disappointed with my experience at Lou's. I had heard great things, so my expectations were high.
The food was good, but the service was very lacking. We ordered a bottle of wine & had to remind our server multiple times, as well as two other staff members, & never received it even after finishing our meal. Our server seemed more focused on drinking &chatting behind the bar than attending to our table.
It wasn't very busy, which made the lack of service even more surprising, especially as tables seated next to us were served promptly. Unfortunately, the service overshadowed the overall experience.
Attentive & knowledgeable team. Manager working March 8th was very hands on & a great host. Nice to know that there are still some restaurants out there that still give great importance to the service industry. Added bonus that it's a West Island gem. Thanks for a great evening.
Food was quite good but service one of the worst I've had a while. Those from the restaurant staff that we interacted with were nice although, it took about an +1 hour to get our food, asked for the bill & after we waited 15 mins (& still nothing) we got up to find a waiter to ask, part of our meal was missing & we were told the wrong price for the special of the night that we ordered. Low staff can definitely be a contributing factor, but being given a heads up at the beginning of the service would help.
We got there at 6:15 & were out at 9.
We had a lovely experience here. We were served by Maggie & she was very sweet & suggested amazing options which we will be back to have again! The baked scallops & the homemade bun is to die for.
Great overall atmosphere, I really admired the cozy vibe attributed to this spot. The food was tasty, the service was a tad bit slow, it took us a while to get our meal but the server was very kind.
