The beef tartare & the rib eye were the standout dishes for me but everything was great including the salad & the dessert.
Delicious that I ate all the food without taking photos! Hands down amazing beef tartare. I got the steak frites, couldn't go wrong with a classic.
I didn't think we wanted dessert but their pumpkin spice cheese cake was heavenly!!
The food were really good. I really appreciate the beef tartare. The fish wasn't what I was expecting, but the service were impeccable. They offer me free dessert, & they were really nice about it. Definitely will come back to try the steak next time!
Le tartare de boeuf, le steak & le poulet & palourdes étaient très bons. On était déçu de l'épaule d'agneau qui allait être notre plat de wow factor - manque d'épices.
The restaurant is very popular, I made the dinner reservation almost a month in advance.
We waited about 10 minutes to be seated, the host was very apologetic & provided us with complimentary bubbles while waited for our table which was a very nice gesture.
We were seated in the back patio area which is very lovely, our waiter was very attentive & moved us closer to a heater because I was cold. The food was incredible, the standout dishes for us were the beef tartare & the stake frites. Overall, the staff are very attentive & accommodating & the food speaks for itself. We had a lovely experience, thank you to the staff!
Really good fancy-ish restaurant with some incredible food!
For appetizers, we got the oysters & we were really impressed with the plating, taste, & especially the horseradish garnish. But that didn't even compare to how good the beef tartare was which we cleared real quick. It had a kind of French onion dip with either roasted potato squares or croutons (we couldn't figure out which). I really hope I can try to replicate that or get it somewhere back home!
Then for the main course, my cousin got the lobster spaghetti, which was a lot of food so she shared some with us & it was really great! I got the roasted duck & peach which had a really good demi-glace sauce. The duck was very tender & meaty which paired well with the sweetness of the roasted peach.
There were hits (beef tartare & fries) & misses (chicken, clam, & succotash), although we appreciate the fries being comped when the server realized the kitchen missed preparing them.
I took some leftover chicken home & realized the inside was still pink. I wasn't paying much attention during the meal & started from the other end, so hopefully didn't ingest much.
Based on this, the restaurant felt overhyped & we had far better experiences with other restaurants at a similar price point.
One of the best beef tartares I've ever had! Everything was delicious, to be honest, but the tartare was a standout. Service was perfunctory, but adequate. Overall a very enjoyable experience!
I used to be the biggest fan of this place. My husband & I have been coming every year to celebrate our anniversary before wedding & post-wedding. We have raved about & recommended this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice place. The service used to be surprisingly casual for an expensive spot & unpretentious. The food was always incredibly inventive, well portioned & well flavoured. The daily menu used to have a wide array of interesting dishes that were a healthy mix between seafood & game meat.
Now? We recently went & were just shocked. The atmosphere is so different - the decor has shifted, the patrons are mostly all English tourists, the service has become incredibly pretentious & poor: when our server realized we weren't ordering wine, we hardly saw him as he fawned over other tables. The food, while still delicious, has lost all of its nice touches - the fries that come with the steak frites used to come seasoned with tallow & Parmesan, & are now just plain, the tartare used to be accompanied by (laughably) one piece of crisped bread & now comes entirely solo. Even the bread & pickle side has been downsized & includes (quite literally) half a pickle. We were incredibly disappointed this July & will certainly not be going back. There are many other restaurants in the city at a similar price point that are doing more for your money & not making you feel like you don't belong to eat there. It's a shame as for a lot of people, expensive restaurants are for special occasions where people make a conscious decision to allocate their disposable income to celebrate something special. These are not normal evenings for normal folks. & it's reasonable to expect a certain level of service (& by that I mean not being grossly neglected by your server & watching him be omnipresent to many other tables in your sections, or at least having him come by at least once before you finish two courses). Even after emailing the restaurant, it took them several days to respond with a chat gpt response asking about the name on the reservation. They thanked us for'giving them the chance to make it right' & then never heard anything back.
I used to be the biggest fan of this place but truly, spend your money elsewhere.
Pictured: the same dish year over year (steak frites).
Service was great, but the food was mediocre at best. Oysters & dessert were 5/5 but the steak, lobster spaghetti, & steak tartare were not good.
Excellent beef tartare & lobster pasta. Wouldn't get the dessert, though, it tastes store bought.
I fell in love at Liverpool House …. With Ceecee & Camille & definitely the steak tartare.
Amazing experience, great service amazing recommendations.
Got the Spaghetti Lobster & Beef tartare, great intro to tartare
I had a really wonderful experience at Liverpool House in Montreal & would definitely recommend it! The atmosphere was warm, inviting, & had a great vibe, making it a perfect spot for a memorable meal. The service was top-notch-our server, Cecile, was absolutely excellent, bringing enthusiasm, knowledge, & genuine care to our table, which made the evening even better.
The food was delicious & well-executed. We started with the sourdough bread, which was fresh, crusty, & delightful. The beef tartare was a standout, bursting with flavor & perfectly seasoned. The six raw oysters were fresh, briny, & beautifully presented. The lobster spaghetti, while well-prepared with rich flavors, wasn't the highlight for me personally, but still very enjoyable. Each course arrived with perfect timing, keeping the meal relaxed & pleasant.
For dessert, the chocolate cake was rich, decadent, & a fantastic way to end the night. The value was impressive-everything felt well worth the price for such a high-quality experience. Liverpool House delivered a fantastic dining experience, & I'm excited to come back!
Could use some more lights. I have mixed feelings on the food. Bon service!
Points forts (+)
Spaghetti homard
Poisson du jour
Trempette crabe
Huîtres
Gâteau à l'orange
Points faibles (-)
Went as a group of 8, had the set meal. We were well welcomed & the dishes portion are just perfect! Steak, beef tartare were delightful, pairing with red wine. They have an extensive selection of wine.
First time here not sure if it was just this night but the mains were extremely salty... The appetizers (we got the burrata, oysters, scallop & fish tartare) were excellent. But following, the hanger steak & sweat bread casserole were so salty we barely finished them. The lobster pasta was good though. The desserts were just alright For the price of everything I had higher expectations (170$ pp) I like their sister restaurant Joe Beef is bette
My son & I drove to the Grand-Prix to spend a father & son weekend. Our friday night dinner at Liverpool house was sensational. The staff was really kind & attentive. They made us feel at home. The recommendations were excellent. We had oysters, beef tartare & steak & fries. The presentation was fabulous. The tartare was out of this world delicious. I wish it came with a bigger baguette, but eaten as it was gave a great mouth feel. The steak-fries was absolutely on point. Have no doubts, it was a generous portion & well worth 41$. The fries were overflowing & exceptional. I wanna thanks the staff of June 7th for a great evening spent at your establishment.
