We have been going to Joe Beef & their sister restaurants, Vin papallion & Liverpool house for awhile.
We went yesterday, we ordered the burrata salad, cucumber salad, the sourdough bread as well as hanger steak & frites along with the market vegetables.
The salads were a big hit for us, so fresh, light & flavourful.
We always love the hanger steak & the French fries.
However, looking forward to dessert was a big disappointment…
We got the cherry smore disappointment, it came with a thin wafer, big thick marshmallow & a dry, solid chocolate cake at the bottom. The cake was tasteless, dry..
We also ordered their ice cream, which was very average, I expected so much more from their dessert.. as we've always come to known it to be their pièce de résistance…
Please bring back the previous desserts which were so delicious !
Reserve before you come to make sure you get a spot! This place was packed but we had a reservation & the table we got was really cute. They have a terrasse in the back which was a nice surprise. The staff is very friendly & highly attentive to details which we absolutely appreciated. The food was delicious! For dessert, get the profiteroles, they are exquisite.
Before trying a new restaurant, we now have the tendency to read reviews, check how it's rated & analyze the menu, pricing included.
Anniversaries are special occasions where we splurge & eat in restaurants that are supposed to be an experience. That experience starts when you are greeted at the front door.
We had a 7pm reservation. The place was packed with only a few tables empty. We were promptly seated & one of two servers approached us asking if we wanted flat or bubbly water. Then, we checked over the menu again & saw that there were items seen on the internet that they no longer had available. It happens, especially when looking at pictures.
So, after a quick'specials' run through, we ordered.
Starting with, a Steak tartare & an order of their version of the Spanish Croquetas. The a large appetizer portion of the steak tartare was served with bite size pieces of lettuce & was absolutely delicious. The croquetas, 3 small balls, were topped with mustard & 1/2 a small gerkin. They were not like in Spain but they were very good.
Because the restaurant was very busy, the kitchen was overwhelmed & our dinner was delayed. We didn't mind. More time to drink our bottle of Elodie Jaume Côte de Rhone wine. Highly recommend you have it.
When dinner came, I had the Hanger Steak & Fries & my husband had the Pork Chop.
Loaded with fresh cut salted fries, a small wedge of Boston lettuce & dressing, a serving of mayo for the fries & the sliced steak. The steak was a bit over done & chewy, but tasty because of the pepper corn sauce.
My husband's chop, according to him, was also a bit overdone, but the topping, späetzle, a combo of mushrooms, tomatoes, pasta & spices was delicious.
The potions sizes are really good. I was so full, I didn't even have room for dessert.
Will we go back? Probably not.
Why you ask? For the cost & quality of our dinner experience, it was rather pricey.

Here's my honest feedback about this place!
Absolutely love the vibe, it was packed, it was cool, we made friends with the table next to us. Super social place & very nice & friendly staff!
Now for the food only commenting on what we ordered & tried:
1- Burrata salad (super basic in my humble opinion) very simple almost to a point where there was no flavor (a bit of salt & pepper could've helped). I wish the veggies were charcoaled at least to add extra hint of flavor. Will not order again.
2- Fish dish on special (not part of the regular menu). Fantastic crisp finish, beautiful white tasty fish inside. Green sauce was a nice addition.
3- Steak & fries (the wining dish of the night). I haven't had steak that melts like butter in such a long time. Fries were delicious too, but the steak texture & bite was incredible. (A must order dish).
4- Lobster pasta. For me personally didn't do the trick. Pasta was nicely cooked, lobster tasted okay, however there was no overall flavor to the dish. There was a bit of bitterness in the sauce. (Will not order again).
5- Banoffee dessert: the worst dish of the night. It was my birthday & Banoffee is my favorite dessert. Couldn't understand how they okayed this version. I think the picture alone says a-lot.
Again this is personal opinion! Will I come back again? YES!! What will I order? The Foie Gras breakfast sandwich.
This restaurant is overhyped, no longer what it used to be. We had high expectations from previous visits years ago. It seems like the restaurant has sold out to push out dishes that they became popular for, with little awareness for seasonal produce or quality. We were late for our reservation & the staff was more than accommodating & kind about this. I really appreciate this & want to thank them for this. However, their friendliness & courtesy towards us does not make up for the poor quality of food here, particularly given the price point.
A long time ago, we went to Liverpool House & experienced an amazing meal - seasonal, fresh, simple yet innovative with amazing execution. Everything was made in house & delicious.
Now, the menu is old & lacking anything inspiring. I am sure you could go here week after week without a new thing appearing. However, my biggest issue was that nothing was executed well. My beer was served cool, not cold. Our oysters had shell in them & we even sent one back when it arrived at the table due to the shell having a hole in it - something that should have been noticed before arriving at our table. We ordered the crudite radishes (one of the few things on the menu that was seasonal??). They were watery & a bit dirty, not at all prime produce. I sat at the table scraping bits of dirt & sad radish off. We also got a burrata & fennel salad, which came with blood orange wedges in June. It was weighed down by heavy vinaigrette. A burrata salad with vegetables is pretty easy to execute & change up according to the season. Why wasn't this redone for spring/early summer? I got the lobster spaghetti which tasted of alcohol. This is on the menu constantly, so this should have been done to perfection. It was thirty degrees outside, a heat wave, & the only main course special was mac & cheese. Truly, confused about the kitchen's vision & ability to gauge what the client wants, let alone execute on it.
Overall, we were so disappointed & won't be back. Many people love the (wintery) dishes that seem to be on the menu consistently. I was so looking forward to a night out to experience the produce of now. It was my birthday & we skipped dessert because everything had been so lacklustre. The staff was friendly, but could tell that patience was thin for newer members that had little training (train your staff!). The name of Liverpool House is not what it used to signify.
This place makes you feel like you're floating among the stars the moment you walk in. Casual yet beautifully upscale, with an atmosphere that somehow feels both relaxed & extraordinary.
Even the bar seats receive full restaurant service - not just service from behind the bar - & every single person on staff clearly knows their craft. Truly top-notch hospitality from start to finish.
The oysters were absolute perfection. The Arctic Char was exquisite, & the special mac & cheese with beef on the bone was completely otherworldly.
& then dessert arrived… maple profiteroles with vanilla-to-die-for ice cream & hot fudge sauce. Pure divine indulgence. Scrummy beyond words.
Another unforgettable dining experience at Liverpool House. 💯✨
Had dinner here after a day of driving from Toronto. The table was cozy. Atmosphere nice. Bustling even. Service attentive & prompt.
We had a dozen oysters & the burrata to start. Very good with the house cava.
Both decided on two of the specials.
The arctic char was delicious.
The lamb pie was excellent. I mean perfect. The crust light & flavorful. The meat & gravy cooked perfectly. Seasoned perfectly.
Don't know how we managed to have dessert. But that was also great.
An excellent meal.
I dined here on July 12, 2025 so my review is quite late. The staff may remember because when I told them the name of my reservation they made fun of me & were like'Gary's here guys, table for Garyyyyy. Gary???' I thought it was hilarious & so did my gf.
Anyways the atmosphere in the summer was amazing. Seated outside around the ferns on the back patio. My gf & I had an outstanding dining experience. Had a very nice bottle of quebecois wine. Enjoyed some corned beef croquettes, the pickle salad, some delicious zucchini, this chicken & clams dish & the steak frites. Finished off with a basque cheesecake & this really refreshing vanilla ice cream & strawberry sorbet dessert that really hit the spot on that extremely hot day. My gf was very thankful I ordered that ice cream in that moment, it came in pretty clutch.
Our server was awesome, very helpful, chill & attentive. He looked like the son of the hotel concierge in home alone 2 & I found that pretty funny. Yeah this place was amazing, we loved it.
