I really enjoyed the food here. We got these PEI oysters that were actually really meaty but mild in flavor. It came with a really cute squeeze bottle that had hot sauce in it. I just had to look at it. We ordered a double ravioli which was the highlight of our meal. I honestly wished there more pieces because 6 pieces was literally a tease. It was buttery & flavorful, & just a well executed ravioli. The sauce on the plate really added to it.
My only complaint was the bison tartare. I didn't really feel it needed that pastry shell? I'm not sure what it was. I also felt like the tartare could have been seasoned more. However, the grilled octopus came out & I forgot all about the tartare. The octopus was perfectly cooked & had a good texture. The sauce that it came with was also very flavorful. All in all, most of our food was very good. It is on the pricier side I would say for the quantity that you get, but I also feel like restaurants get expensive these days because of recession etc. I would have been more upset if all the food was mediocre. But the food was cooked well, so I'm not totally mad about the price.
The overall vibes of the restaurant is very cool & somehow felt very Canadian? I'm not sure how to explain it. Just the overall look & the design & decor made me feel like I was in a Canadian place.
I had a lovely meal here with my partner tonight. The food, cocktails, wine & service were outstanding & the restaurant is beautifully decorated. Prices were also very reasonable. Both of us left saying 10/10
Best pure dinning experience I've had in a while. It is quite a unique spot that is hard to describe & I would strongly recommend to try for yourself. The inside kinda looks like a repurposed dinner turned trendy but kept its charm as a unique bar/restaurant. All aspects of it (food, atmosphere, decoration, service was great/excellent). I'd recommend the hot dogs, they are hilariously amazing.
Stopped by for Happy Hour with some friends via a reservation made a few hours in advance. Our waiter was attentive to our needs & took the time to answer our questions as it was our first visit. Overall, quick service, fresh oysters & love the rustic bar décor! Left with happy smiles & will be back soon. Highly recommend!
Stopped by for early cocktails & it was right before the rush. The space is so beautifully decorated that it transports you into a vintage haven uniquely curated into magic. The bartender was excellent & kind enough to share some recommendations & create a cocktail to my liking. We ended up staying longer than expected & chose the cheese board which was phenomenal. Just a perfect way to close out our first day in Montreal! I look forward to visiting again soon!
Delicious oysters, amazing fries & an elaborate wine list! This restaurant serves beautiful small plates in a cocktail bar setting featuring moody chandeliers, fun decor & a bustling, noisy ambiance.
Really cool restaurant with lots of decor almost like eating in an I Spy book. We stopped here for brunch & got the oysters plate, which was really tasty & creatively decorated. & we got the homemade focaccia, which was also excellent.
For drinks, I was hoping for the Roche Papier Shiso, but unfortunately, they ran out of shiso so I got a pretty good aperol spritz. However, then we got an espresso martini which my sister said was the best espresso martini she's ever had! & now I think she's made it her mission to come back to Montreal again to go here for another espresso martini
The minute you step into the restaurant your eyes are taken on a wild adventure. Every corner has its set of knickknacks & decor. The staff is on point & friendly. If you can, sit at the oyster bar with Raf. It's tapas style eating & every dish was well crafted & had its unique flavors. Oysters were perfectly shucked, fresh & delicious. Forget the Tabasco, they have their own house sauce. All & all great ambiance, fun night out with friends.
Majestique - A Plateau Gem for Oyster & Natural Wine Lovers
Majestique is hands down my favorite spot on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, right in the heart of the vibrant Plateau Mont-Royal. This lively, always-buzzing restaurant strikes the perfect balance between casual charm & refined taste. From the moment you walk in, the eccentric yet meticulously curated décor draws you in - it's an interior worth seeing in itself.
The staff are consistently friendly, upbeat, & efficient, creating an atmosphere that feels both relaxed & energetic. The highlight? Their oysters - fresh, briny, & impeccably shucked. Pair them with their rotating selection of natural wines, & you've got a memorable evening ahead. The menu is inventive & rooted in local flavors, often with a playful twist that reflects the restaurant's fun-loving spirit.
During summer, the outdoor terrace adds even more magic to the experience. That said, reservations are highly recommended - this place fills up fast, especially on weekends.
Whether you're going for a date night, catching up with friends, or just treating yourself, Majestique delivers a unique Montreal dining experience that's equal parts style & substance. It's a must-visit for anyone looking to savor the Plateau's culinary soul.
