I was excited to try this place because I'd heard good things about the food, & to be fair, the meat itself was tender & fine. Unfortunately, almost everything else about the experience was disappointing.

As soon as we sat down, something felt off. There was absolutely no background music, no ambiance, & no atmosphere whatsoever. It honestly felt more like sitting in someone's dining room than being in a restaurant. The complete silence made it feel awkward to even have a conversation.

Things got even stranger when the server explained that there are no menus, everything is verbal, including drinks. That immediately felt odd.

The concept itself was the biggest issue for us. You're charged $44 per person ($36 + $8), but you don't actually get to choose what you want. Everything is served family-style on a shared platter, & everyone at the table pays the same price regardless of what or how much they eat.

One friend simply wanted brisket on its own, but that wasn't an option. My friend barely eats & wasn't looking for a large meal, but she still had to pay full price (I paid for her as it just felt wrong)
Forcing everyone into the same shared meal at the same price makes little sense when people have different appetites & preferences.

For our group of five, we ended up paying around $220 + tip + taxes for some beans, coleslaw, a small portion of mac&cheese each ( you don't get to choose that either), & one platter of meat to share.

While we were there, another group came in, heard the concept & pricing, & immediately left. Honestly, I understood why. We only stayed because we'd taken a long Uber to get there & didn't want the trip to be wasted.

Overall, the food was fine, but the limited choices, forced sharing concept, & complete lack of atmosphere made for a very strange experience. I'm still not sure how to feel about it, but I don't see myself returning.

The best BBQ. Beats any place in VA, NC, SC, & St Louis. We keep talking about how good this place was after almost 2 weeks since we went there

Extrêmement déçue de ce resto réservé pour la fête des pères. Nous avons mangé sur la terrasse sur des tables croches & branlantes. La serveuse n'avait pas de menus & était incapable de nous expliquer ce que nous commandions. Longue attente. Nous demandons des serviettes & on nous donne un gros rouleau de papier brun. La nourriture est servie sur du papier sur des plateaux; pas d'assiettes. Même le porc effiloché est servi directement sur le papier. Les côtes de porc étaient incroyablement sèches. Le reste était bon, mais le menu très limité. Il a fallu demander & attendre la sauce pour les côtes de boeuf.

We expected more. We were there 4 years ago & it was great.
The second time around was disappointing .
The place seems dirty & unkempt. We were seated outside & the table had bird droppings on it- the waiter cleaned it with a filthy cloth which she later cleaned other tables with. The outdoor terrace is poorly built & unpleasant to sit.
The place was understaffed we waited very long to order & get the food.
The food arrived cold.
The brisket was great! Was the only highlight of the meal
Pork ribes tasted old, dry, like they sat in the fridge & warmed in the microwave. Baked beans arrived cold.
There is a lot of potential for this place but someone has to take things seriously there & up their game.

Unfortunately, if you like BBQ, you will enjoy this place & the food, but at what cost?

The portion is kind of small for the price: $36 per person for a'shareable plate' plus $8 if you want the beef rib. You can also get an individual plate, though I can't remember the exact price cause there was no menu & everything was told verbally.

In any case, if you DO want to get an individual platter to share (if you don't have that much appetite) tough luck cause have to pay a surcharge of $20. This makes no sense (in my opinion) & screams SCAM.

As someone who was told that this place is good & read the reviews, I wish someone has told me about this surcharge & maybe I would have avoided this place. 👋🏻

Wow! Best BBQ ever, better than anything we've tried across the US, & John is a great & interesting person! Highly recommend, & the Brisket is out of this world, 10/10!

This place is for real bbq lovers! The meat is delicious & prepared like in no other places in Montreal.Friendly staff,nice little terrasse,a must to try!

Came across this place whilst looking on Google for somewhere to eat for our evening meal. We weren't disappointed the meats were succulent & flavoursome. The unusual thing is there's no menu other than the verbal menu. Your server lists the meats & sides, drinks & you simply just choose. The only thing I recommend is you are hungry the amount of food you get is large the sharing platter is enough for 3 or 4 people . Overall well recommended.

Marissa was the best waitress ever, her spicy margaritas are out of this world, & her muscles are incredible!

We made a reservation for the f1 weekend. We arrived earlier than planned & they were able to accommodate us (thank you!). But more importantly this was some of the best BBQ we've ever had!! Everything was so tender & melts in your mouth. We got a sharing bbq platter & each got our own sides. We were so full & still had lots of leftover meat that we could take home with us. We'll be back for sure.
