Review Summary

Reviews of Koyo Sushi show a wide range of experiences, with some diners praising ultra-fresh sushi, generous portions, and attentive service that made visits feel special, while others cite high prices, uneven quality, and slow or crowded service. The all you can eat format is highlighted as convenient and varied, with a buffet and a la carte options, hot and cold bars, and a mix of sushi, sashimi, dumplings, noodles, and skewers, though several comments note cold dishes, greasy fried items, and limited dessert choices. Many guests mention friendly staff and a welcoming vibe, with servers who offer helpful recommendations and smooth experiences, yet some experiences describe cold rooms, noise, long waits for seating, or cleanliness issues. Overall, Koyo Sushi appears to be a popular choice for sushi lovers who value variety and quantity, with frequent praise for freshness and service balanced by criticisms of price, consistency, and occasional shortcomings.

Koyo Sushi was fantastic. The sushi was super fresh, beautifully prepared, & honestly some of the best I've had in a while. Every dish tasted like it was made with real care.

Shoutout to our server Dre, who made the whole experience even better. Great recommendations, super friendly, & somehow always showed up right when we needed something - almost like sushi-serving magic.

Amazing food, great service, & definitely a place I'll be coming back to. Thanks Dre!

Deeply disappointing. Would not recommend.

This was hands down one of the worst sushi experiences I've had. The food was unbelievably bland - no balance, no seasoning, no depth of flavor. Everything tasted flat & lifeless, like it was assembled with zero care or understanding of sushi.

The fish was especially bad. It did not taste fresh at all, & the texture was off, which completely killed any chance of enjoying the meal. Sushi lives & dies by freshness, & this missed the mark entirely.

For the price they charge, this place is honestly insulting. I kept waiting for something to redeem the experience, but every bite just made me regret ordering more. If you're craving sushi, do yourself a favor & go literally anywhere else.

Never coming back

I'm filing a formal complaint... against my own lack of self-control.
I honestly came here just for a quick bite on Décarie, but Koyo Sushi clearly had other plans for me. I am currently writing this while suffering from a severe food coma, & I have zero regrets.
Let's talk about the Sashimi (see my photos if you don't believe me).
Usually, when you order salmon at mid-range spots, you get these sad, paper-thin slices that look like they've been on a diet. But here? Look at that orange color. That is high-definition fish. The slices were so thick they should honestly charge rent. The fat marbling was perfect-it literally just dissolved on my tongue. I almost ordered a second round, but I needed to save room for the rolls, which was a dangerous decision.
The Rolls:
I don't know what kind of engineering degree the chef has, but the structural integrity of these rolls is impressive considering how much topping they piled on.
The Spicy Crab & Tobiko one: It's a mountain of crab meat. A literal mountain. The popping texture of the fish eggs mixed with the creamy crab? Unfairly good.
The Crispy Onion one: This was the MVP. The crunch from the onions vs. the soft rice & spicy mayo... it's a texture bomb. It's messy, it's saucy, & it's exactly what sushi should be. None of that dry, boring stuff.
The Vibe & Service:
The place was buzzing, which is usually a good sign (never trust an empty sushi restaurant, right?). The staff were running around like ninjas making sure everyone got fed. They didn't hover over me, which I appreciate because I prefer to inhale my food in peace.
Verdict:
If you are on a diet, do not come here. You will fail.
If you like eating generous portions of fresh fish until you can't walk straight, this is your spot.
I'm definitely coming back, but I might need to wear stretchier pants next time. 10/10 would recommend.
