Best Caribbean food in the West Island, if not the whole island of Montreal.
We had the jerk chicken & beef roti - everything was perfectly cooked & bursting with flavor.
The plantains were sweet & moist (just wish there was more of them as a side!).
The rice was so good, it didn't even need gravy or extra seasoning - we literally finished our containers spotless.

The food was utterly splendid, we ordered the oxtail, which was a generous portion with fall of the bone meat, fluffy rice, & delicious sides, the jerk chicken, was juicy, tender, flavourful & delightfully seasoned. The workers were kind & had patience when we were choosing things to order for the first time, & the food arrived piping hot with proper plating. The chill, calm vibe of the location made the minutes waiting for our food pass by quickly. (To avoid wait calling to order in advance is recommended)
Would definitely visit again if given the chance, however we were just passing by Montreal on a trip.

The platter arrived like a riot of the tropics assembled on a tin drum: thick cuts of jerk chicken, their charred skin lacquered in a spice-dark molasses of Scotch bonnet & thyme, lay smoldering beside a golden fried bun still exhaling whispers of oil & flour. The rice & peas-humble in theory, regal in execution-steamed with coconut & bay, each grain swelling with ancestral memory. Plantains, caramelized at their edges, lounged like sun-baked aristocrats beside a coleslaw so crisp & sharp it might have been composed by a chamber orchestra of cabbage & vinegar. It was a meal, I dare say, not merely eaten but endured-in the best sense of that word-like a pilgrimage through heat, smoke, sweetness, & salt, each bite calling forth some fragment of marooned history & defiant joy.
WOW!! What a gem. Driving by, I caught sight of it. It's a hole in the wall, but had to give it a try. It is a take-out only, no sit-down, but the food is real deal flavor. Had the jerk chicken, which was cooked to perfection, the rice delicious, & the in-house-made hot sauce fantastic. The staff is extremely nice. Wonderful island vibes & delicious food-what is not to love? Everyone should be supporting local small businesses like these. Generous portions & reasonable prices. Going back to have the goat & the oxtail.
This was my first time trying Jamaican food & it definitely won't be my last. As a start the service was incredible, you can really tell the people there had a passion for what they did & it really showed in the food. The chicken was juicy, tender, smoky, spicy, & everything you'd want. The amount of food you get for the money is a huge plus too, underneath all that food on top is a huge serving of rice which is also delicious. Overall one of the best hidden gems I've found in the West Island, this is worth a drive from wherever you are to try this place.

While there's no Jannette behind the counter, the name represents the delicious & vibrant dishes you'll find here. The jerk chicken is a standout, perfectly spiced & cooked to perfection. Their curry goat is another must-try, rich & tender, with sides like rice & peas & fried plantains that really complete the meal. The portions are generous, so you definitely get your money's worth. Even though it's takeout only, the service is fast & efficient, & they make sure each order is packed with care. Whether you're a longtime lover of Caribbean cuisine or trying it for the first time, Jannette's is the spot to satisfy your cravings!
Service is slow, the rice needs work, the jerk chicken can be better. For the price, I'd still come back. Improve the order taking over the phone please!

It's unheard of here in Montreal, & it's a game-changer. & let's talk about their Jerk chicken-it actually tastes like it's been kissed by the fire, giving it that authentic, smoky flavor that's simply irresistible. Their curry goat is some of the best I've tasted, & they don't skimp on portions. It's spicy, flavorful, & everything you could want in a curry. Plus, they offer boneless goat roti for those looking for an easy-to-eat goat experience. Both the white rice & rice & peas are cooked to perfection, & you'll even get a fried dumpling with your meal-which, by the way, are absolutely fantastic. I always find myself wishing for just one more. Last but not least, their homemade pepper sauce is out of this world. I can't get enough, & they seriously need to bottle this stuff! So, if you're yearning for a taste of paradise without the plane ticket, make Janette's your go-to spot. With friendly service, delicious food, & vibes that'll transport you to the islands, it's the only place you'll want to be!

Delicious! Scrumptious! Fire🔥🔥jerk chicken,curry goat,oxtail,rice & peas, plantain, fried dumplings!!! Everything seasoned, cooked to perfection!!! Can't wait to try the roti, snapper & Ackee & saltfish & patties, almost forgot the patties. Will be special ordering for the family asap!
This is BY FAR the best Caribbean food I’ve had in montreal!! I’m a huge fan of Jerk chicken so last night got to try this place, I called right before they closed & they were more than happy to prepare our meal. The service was amazing!
We got jerk chicken, oxtail, & a side of Plaintains. The coleslaw was alright but the flavour on the chicken & the oxtail sitting on the rice. Janettes recipe feels warm & homemade. I personally like extra spicy so asked for some hot sauce on the side & they had a homemade hot sauce with one hell of a kick.
I’ll definitely be coming back! This place is incredible.
