Review Summary

Henri Brasserie Française + Lounge is described as a stunning Parisian inspired venue in a historic setting near a central square, with high ceilings, warm lighting, and a chic yet welcoming atmosphere. The menu balances classic French brasserie dishes with seafood options, and many reviews praise items such as onion soup, escargots, tartare, duck, seafood pasta, and refined desserts like millefeuille and Paris Brest, though some meals are noted for being overpriced or not as flavorful as expected. Service is frequently described as attentive and friendly with knowledgeable staff and strong wine and cocktail lists, while a few visits mention rushed pacing, slow timing, or occasional lapses. The ambiance and setting are repeatedly highlighted as a standout, with praise for the elegant decor, lively yet not overly loud atmosphere, and suitability for celebrations, though a handful of guests found the noise, service inconsistencies, or dining value less satisfying. Overall the experience is viewed as memorable for lovers of French cuisine and architecture, with many recommending a visit for a refined brunch or dinner, while noting variability in value and consistency.

Very disappointing food for the price.

Beautiful ambiance, excellent service but food quality was very disappointing given the high profile & high prices at this resto.
Had trouble locating goat cheese in the beet salad ($23), house smoked salmon lacked flavour, served with a single cracker ($26), shrimp linguini was very underwhelming, my husband felt it was no better than Kraft Dinner ($47), smoked salmon pasta had only cooked smoked salmon & not raw in the sauce, would have been better topped with some fresh gravlax  ($37). Desserts didn't fare much better. Ice cream in profiteroles tasted like cheap ice milk & not ice cream ($17) & the Mille feuilles was all feuilles & nowhere near enough cream ($16). No bread was offered. Dinner for two with wine & coffee & tip was $370. That's ok when the food has taste, but not when what's on the plates is at best,'meh'. Poor quality food, we won't be back.

Cool place as it's right by Philips square & connected to the hotel. The ceiling height is super high so creates a really nice atmosphere inside. Ordered the French onion soup, duck & the cuit chocolate. The soup was perfect for a cold night, would've been better if it was cheesier but still very good otherwise. The duck was great, a modest half serving was enough to leave room for dessert which was the cuit chocolate… super rich & sweet so you might want to split this dessert. Really nice place to dine out with a great ambiance.

Enjoyed a fine dining dinner with a group & the service was exceptional, while the setting & atmosphere were memorable. The private dining room is upstairs, behind a set of windows looking back down into the main restaurant.

We enjoyed a tarsnip soup of the day, a very generous portion of foie gras as appetizer, filet mignon as the entree, & a pastry dessert.

I am writing this review to mention 2 exceptional employees who we met while visiting from Mississauga Ontario on the weekend of Dec 13th to the 15th. We went for my birthday dinner on the Friday night & had the absolute pleasure of meeting Christiana & Jonathan. They both provided top notch customer service & definitely went above & beyond for Tom & I. The Saturday we went into the lounge for a beverage & were greeted by Christiana. She remembered us by name & sent over some delicious desserts as she remembered we were too full at dinner the night before to have dessert. They both provided exceptional service & made us feel so welcome. They are both sooo personable & friendly. I hope if we ever get back to Montreal we have the pleasure of seeing Christiana & Jonathan again. I hope your restaurant realizes how lucky you are to have 2 exceptional employees representing your restaurant. I would highly recommend your restaurant. Lynn & Tom Mississauga Ontario.

The Henri Brasserie Française is usually always a sure thing for brunch. Everytime we come we always have a great time & experience & Mimosas are yummy. With those reasons we came for the Easter brunch. They had a special Easter menu & we ordered one of everything creating our own tasting menu, plus the seafood tower & an additional dessert. The seafood tower was a great way to start our meal. Including lobster, shrimp cocktail, & oysters that were fresh & perfectly clean & shucked. Easter menu: The rabbit croquettes were fresh & crispy but left a bit to be desired in the taste profile. It was more of a crispy mini arancini with I'm assuming bits of rabbit. Couldn't really make any meat out to be honest I could only make out the rice. The rabbit must have been busy delivering Easter eggs because he was MIA in our croquettes. Also a very small dish, we got 3 croquettes total, & 2 of them were the size of a large marble, the third was even smaller. The dish was mostly shaved cucumber. The chicken & waffles were delicious. Chicken strips were fresh hot & crispy, waffles had a crispy exterior & soft & fluffy when you cut into them, & the poached eggs were perfectly cooked. All drizzled with maple syrup. The lamb shank was fall off the bone tender & rich, the mashed peas were very pulpy in texture & a very dense. It would have been nicer if the peas were blended with fluffy mashed potatoes. The bitter chocolate tarte dessert was refreshing with the citrus gel & wine foam. La goutte chocolatée was just the right amount of chocolate with the chocolate biscuit & chocolate cream mousse. A nice balance of textures with creamy & crispy with almonds crisps & cocoa nibs. The restaurant is beautiful with all the architectural details from the molded ceilings down to the stained glass. The service was good! Our server Dom was great & friendly, only opportunity was having to ask for a refill to our water glasses. To conclude we had a nice time as usual, but there were a few things that could've been better. Still recommend for brunch though, & valet is a plus who like hunting for a parking spot.

A bit disappointed after seeing ratings & comments on Internet. The place is beautiful but the food is soso for the price. I took an appetizer, a main dish (burger), & a dessert with a glass of red wine for a bit more than 100$ totally. For the wine, 15 dollars a glass, the waiter barely tries to reach the threshold line on the glass, not generous at all. For the Angus burger, they don't ask how you want your meat to be cooked. Results, the meat is over cooked, you can't feel any taste of your meat! The fries were over cooked as well... For the appetizer, 5 low quality prawns from Argentina for 23 dollars. The dessert was the only satisfying dish for the price. Honestly I wouldn't recommend the place.
