Garden Room - Mae Sri is widely praised for authentic Thai flavors, fresh ingredients, and a diverse menu that goes beyond pad thai, with many dishes described as delicious and well balanced; the atmosphere is repeatedly highlighted as cozy, stylish, and greenhouse-like thanks to glass ceilings and greenery, making it a popular spot for dates and gatherings. Service is a major draw when attentive and friendly staff deliver thoughtful recommendations and attentive care, though a few visits note slow or uneven service, language misunderstandings, or occasional misfired dishes and overly salty flavors; overall guests often leave impressed, plan to return, and commend the vibrant vibe, good value, and standout cocktails.
Our server Jeanne was fantastic-warm, funny, & welcoming. They took great care to our allergies! Food was quick & tasty. Looking forward to coming back :)
We're regulars at Mae Sri Comptoir - every time we visit Montreal, we make sure to eat there at least twice. This time, we happened to hear about a bigger branch of the same restaurant & decided to give it a try.
First impression? The space is beautiful. Much more open & spacious than the comptoir, & the menu has more variety, which got us excited to try new dishes. & the food did not disappoint, everything was delicious, & to be honest, I even felt like the flavors were slightly better than the other location.
However, the biggest red flag for us, & clearly for many others based on the reviews, was the customer service. I'm not sure if the Thai lady (possibly the owner?) was just having a rough day, but the attitude we got when we politely mentioned that we were just here for the food & wouldn't be ordering drinks really soured the experience. It wasn't just me, both of my friends felt the same discomfort.
So, 3 stars - & that's entirely for the food. Unfortunately, despite the upgraded space & even better flavors, we'll be sticking with our usual Mae Sri Comptoir where the service has always felt warm & welcoming. The Thai lady there is amazing.

Great food. Electro music though not necessary. Something less loud would make the place more cozy & warm, the vibe the plants & the greenhouse spot inspire in the first place.
Our family of four visited for dinner on a Tuesday. We did reserved a table but the restaurant was not busy that night.
The hostess was friendly & welcoming when we arrived, however the server for our table was not as warm & attentive. Nonetheless we still enjoyed our food & the ambiance.
I like that their menu has a variety of Thai dishes & not just the commonly popular pad thai/pad sew. We tried their Sukhothai & Baa Mee Mo noodles, as well as the hainan steamed chicken. Personally the portion was perfect size for me & delicious (not too salty). Though the papaya salad & thai iced tea were just alright, I've had better ones.
Overall it was still a pleasant experience. I'd visit again if I'm in the area.
Diane S
10/10 recommend the green curry - it was absolutely delicious. The Tom Yum was unexpectedly VERY spicy. Both individuals that order it thought so.
The cocktails were very weak & served over too much ice. Very watered down. Not worth the $18 price point at all.
Service was okay but it felt as though staff was lacking. Drinks came out at the same time as our food & water refills were few & far between. Otherwise a pleasant experience.

First impression wasn't welcoming. Food was good. Service needs work on. I went to the bar & asked for the bill. Waitress asked me is it separate bill or 1 bill. I said one please. I went to the washroom & came back seeing the waitress handing the bill to my gf. Why would you do that?? In my years of experience, if I walked up to you & asked for the bill, you should give it to me not her! No apologies were given just attitude from the waitress. Seems like they were in the juice. There weren't many clients sitting. Forgot to mention that I tried paying in cash but they don't accept! Really??
Second time coming here hoping it would get better but it didnt, instead the service got worst. Food was good, but wasnt anything out of the extraordinary. We ordered a dish & got a completely different one, they were kind enough to bring the right dish.
Service wasnt great, towards the end, we got a waitress who only wanted us to speak french?? We also asked for the bill go be split fairly but she had completely messed it up. At that point we were just tired & had wished to leave.
Fantastic service, excellent food, A+. I ordered take out & while waiting for my order, I was asked if I was being served by multiple staff members. The team is on point.
Food was good, although my boyfriend had the chicken & he said it was bland & unseasoned.
Service was horrible. Server/host barely came to check up on us to fill our water or ask us if we wanted another cocktail/beer (which we wanted). Table close by to us came in after us, had drinks refilled & dessert menu offered. They even left before us.
We had to try to catch our waiter's attention 15 mins we were done eating so we could ask for the bill. Was not offered the dessert menu & waited another 15 mins for bill to come while the server was chatting & having a laugh with the bartenders.
