Le Garde Manger est une sorte de joyau culinaire qui, de prime abord, n'en présente pas les apparences. Il faut d'abord dénicher l'endroit, dans une ruelle quelque part près des quais du Vieux-Montréal. De plus, ce bistro sans prétention, situé près du centre des affaires, ne possède pas d'enseigne extérieure. Malgré tout, depuis son ouverture en juin 2006, il est devenu une adresse de choix auprès des professionnels branchés qui ont envie d'une cuisine de la Côte Est et d'une pinte de bière locale après une dure journée de travail.
Dans l’ensemble, les avis sur Garde Manger décrivent une expérience culinaire maritime exceptionnelle mêlant ambiance chaleureuse et service attentif. La cuisine est largement saluée pour sa fraîcheur, ses fruits de mer généreux et ses plats créatifs, présentés avec soin et équilibre. Le menu degustation est souvent un point fort, même si certains visiteurs trouvent les portions parfois petites et le déroulement des plats peu clair sans support imprimé. La carte des vins et les cocktails reçoivent aussi des éloges, avec des accords judicieux, même si quelques convives regrettent le choix au verre et préféreraient des options plus fruitées ou off-dry. All I can say is... W O W. What an amazing meal & experience at this restaurant, from the staff to the quality of ingredients used to the delicious smelling candles in the washroom. The attention to detail from all angles was nothing short of amazing. My boyfriend & I went with the tier 1 tasting menu & we left feeling full & beyond impressed with our experience. The food was out of this world delicious & the service was that much better. We were sat at the oyster bar, where Julian was incredibly knowledgeable & explained each aspect of the meal & course with great detail & charisma. He answered all our questions with humour & genuine enthusiasm & it is clear he truly loves what he does (& oh boy is he good at it!). He went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable & made our time there that much more memorable. Strongly recommend this restaurant, can't wait to come back. We felt so special & are already planning our next visit to Garde Manger.
The salmon & wagu beef was amazingly prepared,& delicious ...beyond five star! The waitstaff was gracious & warm but particularly our waiter Nicholas who made our evening memorable.Thank you all

Creative, delicious, really high quality ingredients, cozy setting, just so great. One of my favorite fancy meals for a long time. About $700 CAD for the tasting menu for two, with two drinks each, including taxes & tips. A la carte would be less but the chef's menu was very good.
I mean.... I'm not even sure where to begin. I'd like to call myself a foodie that will not go to a restaurant before first looking up it's reviews, comments & social media page. With sush a high rating, it actually made me doubtful. I looked through the comments hoping to find negatives comments (which would still make sense even for a great restaurant) but, I couldn't find anything. Anyways ... we decided to go ahead & choose Garde Manger for our special couple date night. Let me tell you. Wtv could make you doubt about trying this restaurant, forget about it. The experience was IMPECCABLE from START TO FINISH! I even doubted the waitresses on her recommendations (I like to be smart like that haha) & I had to end up apologizing to her for attempting to not follow her recommendations We had the chef menu. Mind you, this restaurant is up there price wise but every single dollars is worth it. I've tried many highly rated restaurants, some overhyped, some very delicious but this one... I'm still 24hours later trying to find something to not give it the TOP 1 RESTAURANT I've tried so far in MTL. It is was it is. What you see in the rating, trust that your experience there should be nothing but short or perfection. Thank you Garde Mange
We shared a bunch of plates & the servers were incredibly personable & efficient. Each & every person we encountered was polite, friendly, & knowledgeable. Everything we ate was boldly flavoured but not heavy. My favourite was the blueberry tart & profiterole cheese cake dessert. Oh & my drink was so tasty. We were close to the speakers & the loud rock music was a bit much at times but who cares? We had an amazing time!!

Our waitress was super attentive & energetic & gave us great suggestions. We would have never ordered the lamb croquettes without her recommendation. The food was unbelievable! We would definitely come back. Small portions was the only downside, but because of how flavourful food was, we were not upset. Instead we grabbed crapes elsewhere on the old town after!!
Le Garde Manger nous a offert un service excellent dans une ambiance chaleureuse. La nourriture & les cocktails étaient savoureux & originaux. Je recommande fortement pour une expérience mémorable.
Tried the table d'hôte at Garde Manger in December 2023, & it was a feast for our eyes & palates. The seafood platter was beautiful & had an amazing selection, everything was super fresh. We enjoyed the lobster "pogos", as well as the grilled octopus & fish with brussel sprouts. The white truffle & pecorino pasta was tasty, yet not the favourite truffle pasta we've had. Service was efficient & friendly, & price was acceptable for such a meal, although we recommend coming with a big appetite if you plan to order this six course meal!
Absolutely amazing experience food wise, in terms of service (these guys are just top notch) & atmosphere. Highly recommend!! We had mussels, tomatoes, salmon, beets, octopus. Everything was unique, flavorful & just perfectly served. These guys know what they're doing.
The food, atmosphere, & service were top quality. It has been worth the wait trying to get a reservation for dinner. You can't go wrong with anything from here. Have a culinary adventure with this team, & you won't regret it.
Garde-Manger est une de nos plus agréables expériences culinaires de mon séjour au Québec. Je dois avouer une chose: j'ai failli faire demi-tour en entrant dans le restaurant... avec sa lumière basse & sa musique très présente, je pensais qu'il s'agissait d'un pub! Quelle chance j'ai eue d'être resté! L'accueil est fantastique, je leur ai même dit adorable! & le menu dégustation, quel bonheur. Ce n'est certes pas donné, mais l'originalité & la qualité sont bien présentes, & à mes yeux ça justifie le prix demandé. Tempura de homard, cassolette de pétoncles, un plateau de fruits de mer savoureux, après quoi la serveuse nous annonce que nous poursuivons avec 3 nouvelles entrées! Un vrai festival, un vrai régal, un vrai plaisir d'avoir été accueille aussi gentiment. Pour revenir à la musique, elle avait l'avantage d'être une playlist d'excellents morceaux des années'80 &'90 (je pense bien), & donc au final assez agréable.
Yet again an amazing experience, we had the option 4 tasting menu & nothing disappointed. The food was great an so was the service, I can't say enough good things about this place, make sure you put it on your must visit list when in Montreal
