Service was great, atmosphere was hip & cool, & most importantly, the food was amazing. Our favorites were the fried chicken, chirashi sushi, & brownie with red miso salted caramel. Also enjoyed the steak, duck, & tantan udon.
This place has become a must-stop every time I visit Montreal. The food is incredible, the drinks are delicious, but it's the service that keeps me coming back. Gray made our experience unforgettable as their knowledge of the menu & ability to make spot-on recommendations based on our preferences & mood were truly impressive. Thank you, Gray, for making it such a special night!
I'm a pescatarian, but happily cheat for this place. We had the duck, fried chicken, & pork noodles, & every bite was worth it!
Went for birthday dinner. Absolutely amazing nouveau Japanese! Started with a tamago each. It was spectacular start to meal! It was soft & the dashi was a delight. One slurp! Chirashi was perfect with substantial pieces of tuna, salmon, whitefish, scallops, real wasabi & yuzu. Soybeans appetizer was served with toasted pieces of milk bread, pickled okra. Fried chicken with a savory black garlic sauce was perfectly crispy. Had a glass of a delicious dry sake with heavy umami. So good! No disappointments except no t shirts in my size! Great friendly service. Unexpected contrast between frumpy exterior & cozy interior. Apparently there's a bar below called Sans Soleil.
Loved this & will be returning!
We tonight enjoyed the tasting menu at Fleurs & Cadeaux & it was a memorable experience.
The standout for us was the Japanese milk bread - truly the best we've ever had. It was incredibly soft, melted in the mouth, & featured a delightfully crispy layer on top.
The fried chicken was also excellent, accompanied perfectly by the black garlic sauce, which was the best sauce pairing for it.
The duck breast was amazing with a lovely charry flavor, but we found the daunted mushroom flavor profile a little off - too sour to complement the smokiness of the breast well.
We particularly loved the Toro special dish; its richness & buttery texture, combined with a subtle brininess of the sea, made it exceptional. Even my friend, who's not usually a seafood fan, enjoyed it thoroughly.
For dessert, we tried both the annin dofu & the brownie, with the brownie absolutely standing out. The chocolate had an impressive density balanced perfectly with the sweetness of the caramel, & the cream on top was a lovely finishing touch.
The service was top notch throughout the evening. Every dish was presented beautifully, & the timing between courses was just right. The only suggestion we have is to consider expanding the tasting menu slightly-adding one or two more dishes or increasing the portion size of a couple of dishes, such as the fried chicken, would help round it out perfectly for 3 people.
Overall, an excellent dining experience with delicious food & attentive service. Highly recommended!
The vibes are great! I would reccomend the hand rolls & the fried chicken.
Speak-easy vibes with truly amazing dishes & great drinks. We had amazing service & tried all the recommendations. My favourite dishes were far & away the duck & the sashimi. The fried chicken was also a must-order. Highly recommend checking them out.
I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I had the fried chicken; it was one of the best I've tried, great flavour & cooked to perfection. It doesn't come with any sides so I ordered a portion of rice which was delicious. My friend ordered the duck & she said it was really good. The decoration & ambiance was nice, is not that big so better make a reservation, was a bit loud for me but nothing annoying. I highly recommend this place.
Fun spot for Japanese eats. The charred duck was excellent & the fried tofu was very memorable. Very attentive service too.
Very innovative culinary experience in a fun atmosphere. We did the $70 tasting menu & it was more than we could eat. I did find it odd that they started with fried chicken & then moved to lighter vegetarian & fish fare, but most plates were delicious & there were many unexpected flavours. My only complaint would be about the booking process, which required a credit card & also filling out a questionnaire, which felt excessive. The email confirmation actually used the phrase that my reservation had been'received & APPROVED' - which just felt a bit arrogant. It's a restaurant, not a job application.
The food at Fleurs & Cadeaux was awesome :) Would definitely recommend if you are craving some good food in the Montreal, QC area.
The Magret de Carnard Au Miso Blanc (Duck Breast) was awesome. The duck was tender, savoury & delicious. Would definitely recommend if you are craving some good duck.
The F&C Chirashi Sushi was awesome. The variety of sashimi was fresh & delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked & seasoned. Would definitely recommend if are you craving a good variety of sashimi & rice.
The Takaki D'Albacore (Tuna Sashimi) was fresh & delicious.
The Poulet Nanban (Sweet & Sour Fried Chicken) was good. The fried chicken was tender, crispy & flavourful. Would definitely recommend if you are craving some good sweet & sour fried chicken.
The Tantan Udon was okay. The udon was perfectly cooked with great texture. The spicy ground pork was delicious. The sesame based sauce was okay.
The Brownie, Caramel Sale Au Miso Rouge (Brownie with Miso Salted Caramel) was good. The brownie was delicious with chocolatey goodness. The miso salted caramel was an interesting flavour that somehow worked with the brownie.
The Annin Dofu was awesome. This cream based dessert with caramelized apples (or was it pear?) & shikwasa ice cream was light, not too sweet, citrusy, & heavenly. Wish there was more of the shikwasa ice cream which provided that really good citrus flavour. Would definitely recommend the Annin Dofu dessert to wrap up the dinner :)
I would go back for the sashimi, extremely fresh & carefully cut. I found the fried chicken too salty. I would recommend to sit in front of the chef, it was captivating work.
This restaurant is absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is so cozy & what can i say about the food!! My cousins & i had a full platter of sashimis & the fish was super fresh & the perfect cut. We had Albacore tataki, korean fried chicken, Pork Udon, Carrot salad, breaded Tofu in miso broth, Panacotta & a Brownie. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. Everything is fresh & the sauces that accompany the fish/ tataki/ chicken are so tasty!
Amazing food, sake & vibes - sat at bar counter as party of 2 & thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Fresh sashimi, great spicy tan tan noodles, & the fried chicken nanban was spectacular would absolutely come back!
This was my third visit to Fleurs & Cadeaux, & once again, it did not disappoint. We celebrated a friend's birthday with a group of five, & everything-from the food to the service & ambiance-was perfect. We shared a variety of dishes, & everything was delicious. The standouts for us were the Chirashi sushi, Nanban fried chicken, & the white miso aged duck, which were all exceptional. A must visit !
August 2024: 4 stars. Music was more elevator lounge music, not great like last time. Steak dish & agadeshi tofu (very mushroom-ey) dish were good. Udon with minced pork was delicious. Rice bowl was a bit uninspired. brownie was overly buttery & salty. Great presentation for all dishes. Service was excellent as usual though. Yu mi & the sour cocktail were alright. February 2024: 5 stars. Great music, nice atmosphere. Pleasant, attentive service. Same menu as downstairs as far as I noticed, just different vibe (oldies music upstairs, newer stuff downstairs). Duck was delicious. Pickled & grilled vegetable dishes were nicely presented but small portion. Fried chicken was nice & crispy. Really enjoyed my cocktail that had Mezcal in it, as well as the sake recommendation. The dessert was disappointing though. The thin sheet cake was tasteless & had a grainy texture. The haskap cream on top was nice though.
One of my favorite restaurants in Montréal. Very creative menu with surprising & memorable tastes, namely the duck & the fried chicken. Got the tasting menu once & loved it! Especially love the atmosphere (casual, lowkey, chic & cool).
I've been here twice & every time, it never fails. The fried chicken & tataki are guaranteed crowd favourites. The service is generally pretty great too. It's a tight spot so you're close to the other tables. & as a tall person, when we were in a booth another time, it was very tight (not for tall people aha). The brownie was interesting & I would not order again.
I've been eager to try Fleurs & Cadeaux for some time, & it definitely lived up to my expectations. We began with the onsen egg, followed by the Nanban chicken with squid ink sauce, the grilled miso aged duck & the chirashi bowl. We finished with the matcha crème caramel. Every dish was delicious, with the chicken being our favorite (best fried chicken I had in my life!!).
A fancy little gem with a great vibe. The staff was very kind & explained each dish as it came out. I ordered a few dishes but the two clear standouts were the nanban fried chicken & the chirashi. First off, the fried chicken was a pleasant surprise, because it was INSANE -the best fried chicken I've ever had. The exterior was a perfectly satisfying crisp imbued with the best flavor. It kind of reminded me of Cantonese pan fried chicken but refined to a peak it never thought it could reach. The chirashi was as beautiful as it was delicious. The fish was super high quality & each piece practically melted in my mouth. It was definitely top shelf omakase grade sushi. This place was such a nice treat. Treat yo self.
