If Ferreira Café has quickly established itself as one of the best restaurants in town, there is no mystery: a visionary owner, an inspired chef, high quality products and a talented and dedicated team. In Montreal, Ferreira Café gives the Portuguese cuisine all its nobility.
Reviewers describe Ferreira Café as an elegant, intimate setting with chic Portuguese influences and a strong focus on fresh seafood. The menu is praised for beautifully balanced dishes, high quality ingredients, and care in both flavors and presentation. The service is repeatedly described as attentive, knowledgeable, and professional, though a few guests note occasional lapses when the restaurant is busy. Many guests praise standout items such as octopus, black cod, bouillabaisse, and other seafood specialties, with compliments on generous portions and thoughtful pairings. The wine list and cocktails receive frequent praise, and the open kitchen adds to the lively, upscale vibe. Prices are described as high and some feel value does not always match the cost, along with occasional notes about additional charges for bread or olives. A few reviews note noise level or occasional off nights where dishes arrive not as hot as expected, but the overall sentiment remains highly favorable. Overall, Ferreira Café stands out in Montreal for authentic Portuguese dining and top-tier seafood, delivering a refined yet welcoming experience that many would happily return for.
Superb experience. Staff are incredible & all the dishes we tried were superb. Would highly recommend. Wine list is also great. Special mention to Jeanne who does an incredible job!

We were guests at a private event in the open-kitchen dining room on the mezzanine. The staff at this fine-dining restaurant was outstanding. Once again, we were served by Fernando. Whenever Fernando was around, we dined splendidly. He had carte blanche for the amuses-bouches, appetizers, & dessert. As usual, he dazzled us with an array of starters: sardine filets, black cod cake, grilled squid, crispy octopus, smoked eggplant, Senhor José's homemade smoked salmon, &, not to be forgotten, the Joselito Ham which was incredibly delicious & melted in the mouth. For the main courses, my wife selected the "Porcini-crusted roasted black cod," while I opted for the filet mignon, which was perfectly cooked rare as requested, juicy with a crust. For the wine, I wanted to experience the wines from the owner's Portuguese vineyard. Fernando recommended a reserved bottle that was not listed on the menu. For dessert, we enjoyed the famous pastéis de nata, chocolate mousse, fartura de feira, & sorbet. To cap off the meal, we were treated to a complimentary shooter. The bill was considerably steep, but the meal was absolutely incredible & memorable.
Bravo! Annie Roy & André Rivard de Québec.
I just had the best time at Cafe Ferreira for a work event! We came in at 9 PM with a group of 10, & we were treated to a fabulous table d'hote menu featuring steak, prawns, veggies, & mushroom risotto. Everything was served buffet style, which was so convenient & fun, & it even came with dessert! I have to say, the prawns & the risotto were definitely my favorites - they were absolutely delicious! The service was amazing, too; the staff was super attentive & always there for refills. Overall, it was such a great spot for our group event, & I can't recommend it enough!
Had a fantastic dinner & would recommend the crispy octopus. We were a large group & the wait staff were efficient & very friendly. The only downside was being put in the back room where the lighting was flickering ... & since we were all in the lighting industry it was annoying & slightly amusing. 🙃
The seafood tower was amazing - the mussels were today's winner. Trust your (well-dressed) clever server to recommend an appropriate wine to accompany your meal. A must for serious foodies.

Really nice & fresh seafood. Black cod is superb. Seafood rice casserole is well executed. Seating is comfy. A busy place, so reservation is a must. Would recommend.
Highly recommend reservation. One of the best Portuguese seafood restaurants. Every dish was cooked to perfection, wished I could have tried every dish on the menu.
Rice & fish dish was absolutely excellent. Recommended Portuguese wine Aldeia just ok & not a $22 4 ounce wine. Fish & potatoes soup was just ok. The monk fish is a nice touch. They should serve it with a piece of bread. Fried app Octopus very well done. Went with my wife & two daughters. Ordered adult meals. My 13 year old was offered a seafood linguini. It arrived extremely spicy & inedible. She took 2 bites & stopped eating. I tried it & it was too spicey for me. Our kids are accustomed to spices & eat adult dishes. After some time they check in we asked for the dish without spice. We would have appreciated knowing it was an arrabiata when ordering in the first place. He made another & charged $45 for both the one thrown away & the second which she did enjoy. $90 dollar linguini with shrimp & scallops. It took away from an otherwise good experience. I don't mind paying $460 for 2 adults & 2 kids if we eat the food & enjoy it, but the wine & pasta was a mishap. We felt like the manager should have used better judgment. Not sure if we will go back.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dining at the Ferreira Cafe was an exquisite culinary experience from start to finish. The moment we stepped into the beautifully decorated establishment, we were greeted with warm & attentive service that set the tone for the evening. The seafood offerings were truly exceptional, with the blackened cod standing out as a masterpiece of flavor & presentation. Each bite was a delightful blend of perfectly balanced spices & melt-in-your-mouth tenderness, showcasing the chef's impeccable skill & passion for Portuguese cuisine. The ambiance of the Ferreira Cafe is equally impressive, combining sophisticated decor with a cozy & inviting atmosphere that made our dining experience truly memorable. The attention to detail in both the food & the surroundings is evident, creating a perfect harmony that elevates the entire dining experience. For anyone seeking an outstanding meal in an elegant setting, I highly recommend the Ferreira Cafe. It is a gem that promises an unforgettable culinary journey. We will undoubtedly be returning to savor more of their delectable dishes.

Former colleague recommended this place to me if I visited Montreal, & this will be one of the top 10 restaurants on my list 1. Definitely ask for the bread service, the olive oil served tastes so good you want to drink it. 2. We ordered cod ceviche, octopus for starters...soft octopus grilled to perfection. Ceviche marinade was so tasty, very balanced. 3. Mains we took signature seafood casserole with rice & more octopus with potatoes. OMG the octopus was just unbelievable soft & buttery. Great service from the team, they predicted our every wish. Must stop if you are visiting Montreal, I envy the locals 😁
We visited this place for dinner on Monday evening & it was full. The place had a great vibe to it. Service was fabulous - special mention to Sara who was serving our table. Every server took care of small details which was refreshing in post-covid era for me. Food was delicious & highly recommend getting the tuna tartare. The only thing which was not in sync was the bread served as it was not fresh.
I had the chance to be able to experience this wonderful restaurant with friends & it was wonderful. From the food we ordered to the service we have received, this has to be one of the finest restaurants in Montreal. Great place to eat if you are in the city, I highly recommend!
Food & service are out of this world! Michael Bergeron our waiter was honestly the most fun & nice waiter we've ever had. He was very attentive to our needs & he really knew his menu. Very professional. We had a view to the kitchen & the chefs were calm & everything was clean. & the oysters...omg...the oysters were the best i've ever had! Very meaty & fresh! I will definitely go back & totally recommend! Thank you
