I finally tried it & it was delicious! I had the chicken shawarma. They put a lot of garlic sauce. I definitely want to try the beef shawarma next! Great location as well!
Heard many people speak very highly of this place & I was not disappointed. It's a small but very cozy & clean joint. Service was prompt & friendly. The menu is a bit limited compared to other shawarma/lebanese fast-food restaurants, but the quality is much higher than most places. They do not have any sides other than fries, fattoush & various dipping sauces (not baba ghanoush or hummus or muhammara or tabouleh)
They do not have the usual herbed garlic potatoes, however the fries are some of the best fries to be had in Montreal. Freshly made, unlike every other cheap lebanese/greek/south asian fastfood places that use frozen, but at the same time not dark brown greasy like in most French Canadian joints. Seemed to be about 1/4 inch thick, perfectly golden & crispy. I much rather have those fries than garlic potatoes that have been sitting on the tray for way too long, which a lot of joints don't even bother reheating when you order & when they do, they use the microwave.
I had the chicken shawarma sandwich & it was pretty good. I don't particularly care for putting fries in sandwiches/wraps but it wasn't bad either. The wraps do not contain any lettuce or tomatoes unlike every other shawarma place in Montreal, which is a good thing, it doesn't end up being a soggy wet sour mess that overpowers the meat. This place only puts chicken, pickles & toum in their chicken shawarma. You have to like garlic though, because the toum does take over quite a lot. One of the drawbacks maybe is that it seems like the chicken does not have as much seasoning from baharat, or maybe I can't taste it because the toum in the sandwich just overpowers it completely. Also they do not offer platters for their chicken & beef shawarma, only for the falafel option. It's not like most Montreal shawarma/shishtaouk places taste much of cinnamon/allspice/cloves (especially the old school joints), but here it's definitely not a highlight.
I saw a deep purple squirt bottle in the prep area, looked like it might have been pomegranate molasses, but my chicken shawarma didn't really taste like it had any in it.
They offer self serve ice cold water, free of charge.
The prices & portions are on par with other shawarma restaurants in Montreal. The pitas are not huge, or stuffed with a lot of meat, but is okay sized. The fries portion is good. Paid $14.72 tax in. Pretty comparable to a lot of places out there & somewhat proportionate to the increase in minimum wage, but yes in the grand scheme of things it is a bit expensive, but it's the same everywhere.
Absolutely love it! Unarguably the most authentic shawarma in Montréal, & it's also really affordable. Both their beef & chicken shawarma taste exactly like Lebanon's.
Highly recommended!
Am writing this in faire professional way considering myself a foodie & a shawerma eater.
About the resto, when I decided to go I had to run to catch it before they close at 10:00 pm which I find a bit odd specially on the weekend. very good location in downtown & a bit tricky to park if you're driving, but still worth it for me. Very cozy nice warm contemporary little place. The guy taking the orders seems new in training & not familiar with the Middle Eastern cuisine the restaurant is offering which I find it's very important specially when the clients of such place could be demanding. That being said The manager/owner was simply giving him a hand & she took care of the confusions & language barrier leaving me in a positive experience.
A first time visitor ordered 1 chicken & 1 beef shawarma. Size & value is good enough for average person.
The ingredients of both sandwiches are very well prepared & cooked. The sauces (tahini & garlic) are super tasty & dominates the Lebanese taste of the sandwich. I personally think that a little more meat in both sandwiches will bring it to perfection & make it more rich & better value. Good luck to the owner this could be my favorite shawerma place for now
Suggestions :
-add more meat in the sandwich
-more familiar person with the cuisine at the cashier
Will edit if I try something new
The chicken shawarma was soooo yummy & juicy. Reminded me of my days in Syria & Lebanon
Fast & friendly service
Shukran!
The mint in the falafel wrap is incredible. It blew my mind. Why didn't I think of this?!
Chicken wrap was also very very good & garlicly. Wraps are on the smaller portion but its high quality.
Was good. Toum was excellent, chicken was a bit greasy. Shawarma beef was good but nothing exceptional. Wait time 20 mins.. price wise it's good.
Some of the best Lebanese food I've ever had. The falafel wrap (especially the spicy version) is an absolute delight with its mix of veggies & herbs, & so is the chicken shawarma with its delicious toum. My new go-to place in Montreal for a tasty meal at a great price. Couldn't recommend enough!
Hands down the best & most authentic Lebanese beef & chicken shawarma in Montreal. If you're looking for an authentic taste with no extra frills, this is the place to try.
I went randomly there as it was close to where i stayed. I was impressed by the quality of the shawarmas. Tried both beef & chicken, great authentic taste! Falafel has a homemade feeling to it, still very good.
