You will find at Chez Victoire, located right in the heart of Le Plateau on Mount-Royal Avenue, a retro style combined with a laid back and friendly atmosphere.
Sought after bistro food. A reasonable selection of products. A combination of an enthusiastic and warm ambiance that encourages friendly gatherings.
A late night menu is available everyday from 10pm to midnight. Private dining room also available for groups of 30 to 70 people, whether it's for a standing or sit down cocktail party.
Chez Victoire is widely praised for refined French cuisine in a cozy, elegant setting, with dishes that are fresh, beautifully presented and thoughtfully prepared. The food earns frequent high marks, from seafood and duck dishes to desserts, and the tasting menu with wine pairings is a popular highlight. The wine program and sommelier guidance are repeatedly noted as strengths. Service is described as attentive and professional, often elevating the experience, though several reviews mention occasional lapses such as expeditious or uneven service and miscommunications. The atmosphere ranges from intimate to lively, with some guests enjoying the terrace while others find the space crowded or noisy. Value is seen as generally good for the quality, though prices can feel steep for the portions, and reservations are advised. Overall, it is regarded as a reliable choice for French cuisine and wine lovers, with recurring praise and some mixed experiences depending on timing and staff.
Chez Victoire is truly one of my favorite restaurants in Montreal. The atmosphere is cozy & elegant, perfect for a special evening or a relaxed dinner with friends. The food is absolutely delicious - beautifully presented, full of flavor, & thoughtfully prepared. Every dish we tried was outstanding, & the wine selection pairs perfectly with the menu. The staff is attentive, welcoming, & professional, which makes the whole experience even better. A wonderful place for great food, great service, & a memorable evening. Highly recommended.
Food was great, had the group menu. Tuna tartare as appetizer was ok, beef as main was delicious, chocolate lava cake as dessert was exceptionnal. Service friendly & fast, even with larger group. Good wine list (glass & bottle) Overall felt like the quality matched price & has a pleasant night. Thank you!

Perfect terrace to catch up with a friend on a sunny Sunday
The terrace was in the shade so we didn't feel too hot. The wine was nicely paired with the entrees we picked (sauteed mushrooms & the octopus). I highly recommend the mushroom. The saute is heavenly, even ordered an extra side of bread to be able soak it all in
Incredible tasting menu! I recommend to take it with the wine pairing, the waiter really knows his stuff. They are not shy with the portions & you are definitely full at the end of your meal. The octopus is a must try!
Great date night atmosphere.
We took the table d'hôte with accompanying wines.
Classic dishes with a contemporary twist. The artichokes were delicious, but frankly no flaws in any of the dishes.
No flaws in the service either.
Reservations recommended.
Overall great meal & experience.
I recently visited this restaurant & found the overall experience to be decent. The main course was the highlight - I tried the beef, which was exceptionally tender & flavorful. However, the starters & desserts were just average. The service was great, & we opted for the wine tasting menu, which was also fairly average. We took advantage of a discount through the MTL à Table app, which made it more reasonably priced. However, without the discount, I'd consider it a bit overpriced for the quality.
This is a great choice for an elevated experience in the plateau; menu is diverse & seasonal, great wine list, & the staff are very kind & knowledgeable. My only complaint is that i found it a little dark in there (we all used our flashlights to read the menu). Would absolutely return!

Walked by & decided to try it. It does not disappoint. The food is amazing & the staff are so knowledgeable & nice. The 4 service tasting menu with the wine pairing is an absolute must!!! I will definitely return
This was an amazing finish to our first day in Montreal. The vibe on Avenue du Mont Royal was such fun, & everything about our meal at Chez Victoire was superb. Matthew (Matthieu? Désolée!) was welcoming, encouraging, & extremely knowledgeable about both the food menu & the cocktail/wine list. All of his suggestions were spot on, & his enthusiasm was contagious. We enjoyed tasting the wines that he recommended so much! Local mushrooms were featured on the night's menu & were delicious, as was the burger de smoked meat maison; not a burger at all, but a perfectly sized portion of house smoked meat Montreal style with nicely paired condiments. Highly recommend the Clementine Mash cocktail for those who indulge. Merci mille fois!
I was looking forward to eating at this restaurant due to all the positive reviews. There isn't a wide variety of choices on the menu, but we did go for the tasting menu & without the wine pairing as we do not drink all that much. In general the food was good. It started off quite well & the appetizers were very tasty. However, the waiter brought out some burnt toast as if it was normal. I had to ask them to change them. The second time was much better. As we got the rest of the tasting menu, I noticed that the taste was very similar from one dish to another. Although it is very tasty, but at one point I wanted to be surprised by something else. It became redundant at one point. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice & the decor is charming. The service was attentive, except for the burnt toast.
The wine matched perfectly with the stake & the somilier showed me a new side of "yellow wine" that I never heard of before, definitely interesting & you should try it out!
Starting out with just a quest for some meat I was not expecting much, & being alone they asked if the bar was ok, which I was fine with. Now, the meat was fantastic as well as the root vegetables.
Highly recommended a try for this one but expect it to be on the high price/high value side.
