I recommend the latte & the hot chocolate. They were fabulous. We also tried the almond raspberry croissant. It was not bad but it was on the sweet side due to the raspberry jam filling.

The shop has plenty of European products. I was so tempted to buy them but didn't want to carry too much while I was exploring the city. It's worth checking it out if you are looking for some European products or gifts.

There were not many seating at the shop since it's not an actual cafe. I recommend take-out vs dine in.

I search the world for the best of the best of viennoiserie & pastries (as a hobby & passion - not professionally). Chez Potier is the best viennoiserie in North America I've tried, followed closely by The Allis in West Loop, Chicago. Except they have everything you could want & their espresso is so rich, chocolatey, with notes of hazelnut & chestnut.

They also have a store for epicurean delights. 10/10 would recommend if you care about food & you're feeling something sweet.

Edit: someone insisted Duc du Lorraine was better Viennoiserie & the best in the city. So I checked it out. It's okay, definitely not better than Chez Potier, & their espresso is not as good either, it's louder, worse service. 10/10 would recommend Chez Potie

Staff was so kind, allowed me to practice my French rather than switching to English upon hearing my accent. The store was very cool, so many different international delicacies.

NOLA Cheesecake (photo) was délicieux! Fresh with citrus flavors & nice sweetness coming from the white chocolate outer layer. Somehow this dessert managed to be light & creamy & pack a flavor-punch all at the same time. So many different crunchy & smooth textures too. YUM!!!!

Side note-yes there is a grapefruit slice on top; I do not like grapefruit & I LOVED this dessert.

Chez Potier is not your average café-this place *levels up* the pastry experience in every way. The moment you walk in, you feel the refined yet welcoming vibe that sets the tone for what's to come. It's a beautifully curated space that blends the elegance of a European pastry boutique with the warm charm of a local favorite.

The pastry selection is nothing short of stunning-each piece genuinely looks like a work of art. I tried their in-house hot chocolate & was impressed by the rich flavor. You can really taste the quality cocoa, though I personally would've preferred it less frothy & a touch darker. That said, it was still a delight to sip.

I paired the hot chocolate with a strawberry cream pastry that showcased real craftsmanship. It featured four distinct layers: a silky vanilla cream on top that was absolutely decadent, followed by a refreshing middle layer of strawberry accented with fresh mint, & finished with a touch of fresh strawberry on the side. The base was a little firmer & drier than I'd like, but it didn't take away from the overall flavor, which was still thoughtfully composed & delicious.

Service here deserves a shoutout-attentive, knowledgeable, & warm. Their recommendations were spot-on, & it's clear they take pride in what they do. Beyond pastries & coffee (which is in-house brewed, by the way), they offer a selection of fine European goods including Italian delicacies, French products, truffle oil, & even caviar.

Chez Potier has a lot to offer & then some. I'm already looking forward to going back & trying more. A must-visit for pastry lovers, café connoisseurs, or anyone looking to indulge in a little edible art.

I travel to Montréal from time to time & every time ´Chez Potier' is my place to go for a nice treat, especially since chef Tilly left the city two years ago. Why ´Chez Potier'? For the intricate desserts & real croissants. As much as I appreciate the multi-element desserts, I can not ignore the lack of good reception. I believe that people who serve the customers, must make an effort to be kinder & more appropriate. If not out of respect to the customers themselves, at least have respect to the chef & all the people, who put heart, imagination, artistry & extremely hard work into making such exquisite pastry. Chapeaux to the creators!

The two stars I took away from my review is for the service. It is not good to assume that your customers would not enjoy time at the shop & load a bag of five croissants, a cake & a hot chocolate to go. It's even worse when you are asked to make their order for in the house, to rudely scold them that next time they better tell you so way in advance, before they wrapped the pastry in the paper bag (the cake was not yet served & the chocolate wasn't even charged). Last November I had similar experience: I was savouring desserts & drinks inside the store. Before leaving, I decided to buy jars of mustard & other gourmand goodies. I again was advised next time to make up my mind in advance, instead of being cashed twice.
Multiple little mentions like this make me feel like I am being an annoyance. Why would I want to come back next time I visit Montréal?!

One of the finest hot chocolate, croissant & desserts. A must visit when in Montreal. They have some amazing range of products to offer.

UPDATE: they reached out to me to apologize for the issues & reimbursed me for the chocolate plate. I ordered a pecan chocolate cake. The cake was delicious & beautifully made. I have had cakes from there before & they have been fabulous. My family has loved the cakes too. So for the quality of the food - I would give 5 stars. However, there were two things on my recent experience that made me remove the two stars: 1) I ordered via the website & given its a milestone for a loved one, I requested a personalized message on the cake (which was 5$). The website states a 40 character maximum so, I took the extra effort to make sure my message was less that than that & submitted the order. The business gave me the courtesy to call me however, they told me my message was too long & they would need me to cut the message down or pay an extra $5 for an additional personalized message. I accepted to cut the message down even though it was not my error & as customer I really shouldn't have had to pay a penny extra for what they promised on their website. I mentioned this to the gentleman at the till when I went to pick up the cake. He accepted my comment but I am unsure as a business if they will do anything about it. If you choose to take the personalized message option when ordering a cake, I'd recommend keeping it shorter than 20 characters or call them to ask them what they can accommodate to not disappoint yourself as a future customer. 2) The actual message was not written to what I would have expected. The message was supposed to be "Aging like fine wine". What the cake seems like its written is "Aging LIME fine wine" & not very very clear. We had a laugh about it & it goes in our books as a funny meme. However, if you are very particular, I would be cautious on the personalized message. I've also shared some photos. I would like to reiterate the cake was fantastic in taste & all my previous experiences here have been decent. The two above points are the reason I took away the 2 other stars.
