Review Summary

CHAT-COLATE offers a cozy, cat themed vibe in the Old Port with warm hot chocolate, creamy ice creams and seasonal sorbets, plus quirky cat merchandise that invites lingering; the staff is generally warm and efficient and the decor earns many compliments for charm and comfort. Reviews highlight the depth of chocolate, balanced classics and a handmade feel, with seasonal flavors and dairy free options that broaden the appeal, but some note inconsistent hours, crowded small tables, and prices that can feel high for what is offered, and a few experiences mention items that don’t seem fully homemade. Taken together, CHAT-COLATE comes across as a beloved cat loving dessert stop with a playful, vintage atmosphere and a mix of indulgent treats.

Warm & inviting atmosphere, with different ice cream flavors to choose from. Their nutella crêpes are to die for & their iced latte always hits the spot 🤤

Très bonne crêpe (un peut trop de nutella pour moi mais c'est une question de goût) le milkshake était bon lui aussi. Petite ambiance marrante & calme dans une ambiance musicale très agréable. Je trouve par contre que c'est très chère.

Is this picture a lie?

This here table was nastier than a rat's bottom on a Tuesday morning in July.
I sat on a ripped chair with sprinkles on it & a bit of chewed gum, which I assume was there for cushioning.

After moving to another seat out of pure disgust, I realized that the cushions were stained. The gaps between the wood in the table were nasty as well.

The lady that brought us our food put the bare utensils right on top of this aforementioned filth. The crépe was also touching the table as it was too big for the plate.

They also charged us more than what it said on the poorly written menu. Red flag!🚩🚩🚩

The only reason this place gets two stars instead of 1 is because of the flavor & portion size.

A broom & a toothpick to clean the gaps would have gone a long way.

Rustic vibes is not an excuse for filth. However, considering this restaurant's eloquent reply, this place gets 4 stars.

Love this dessert place, cute & cozy in the heart of the old port, it's often open late & offers a nice variety of options. Love their ice cream cones & crepes! The service is also always nice & efficient!

Lovely place! Cozy atmosphere with lots of interesting cat miscellaneous. I've recently moved to Montreal & was craving sweet crepes when I came across Chat-Colate. Of course, I ordered the "Fiesta" crepe (it seems to be the most ordered sweet there) that comes with banana, strawberry, Nutella, whipping cream & vanilla ice cream. I must say: it was delicious! They also have ice cream, & coffee for those looking for a lighter after-meal dessert/drink. Just be aware it's a small shop, so I assume it must be a bit difficult to find a place to sit during busy hours. Anyway, I highly recommend it!
