Ceramic Café-Studio is a unique franchise! A ceramic painting studio, a coffee shop and a boutique all in one place. Since opening in 1997, people gather at Ceramic Café-Studio. Whether you are a beginner or an accomplished painter, alone, with family or friends, you can come and paint original ceramics, which are both personalized and practical. The famous paninis are well known, the smoothies are delicious and the coffee is comforting. The Ceramic Café on St-Denis Street in Montreal is the first Ceramic Café that opened in Quebec in 1997. Since 2007 they are located at 4338 St-Denis Street, corner of Marie-Anne near the Mont-Royal metro. Previously they were located on the other side of the street at 4201 St-Denis Street, corner of Rachel Street. The owners and creators of the concept, Paola Cacopardo and Gilles Geoffrion, are franchisors of four Ceramic Cafés. Ceramic Café Montreal has two floors and can accommodate up to 100 people. The team of Ceramic Café Montreal goes as far as Gatineau to offer ceramic painting activities to groups such as schools, day care, summer camps, office parties, showers, children's parties and other occasions.

This was our first time visiting this ceramic café. We spent a lot of time carefully choosing our piece & painting it, & the creative process itself was enjoyable. Unfortunately, the experience was ruined by the staff, especially the person assigned to our table.

We were given very little instruction & had to figure out almost everything on our own, which is difficult for first-time customers. When we asked for help, the advice we received actually made our art worse. I asked how to use a specific paint bottle & was told to'use it like a pen.' Following that advice caused a large smudge. When I asked how to fix or remove the mistake, I was handed sandpaper & told to rub it off. This only made the situation much worse by spreading the paint & making the mistake far more noticeable.

After this happened, the staff member clearly avoided us. Even when we tried to get her attention, she ignored us for the rest of the session. Maybe she knew what she had done, felt guilty & could not even look at us. We spent several more hours trying to fix our ceramics, but the final result was very disappointing.

To make matters worse, the café charges based on time spent painting, which resulted in a very high bill. Given how confusing the process was for new customers & how little guidance was provided, it almost felt like a strategy to trick us & keep us at the table longer & charge more.

Overall, this was a frustrating experience, & we left feeling disappointed & overcharged.

The process of picking up the ceramic is also unorganized. We went back exactly 1 week later as instructed. It took them 30 minutes to find our pieces & there were unknown stains & defects on our art & some numbers written on them which does not look good.

I've been here many times over the course of my life & have almost always had a good painting experience: the array of ceramics is great, the paint options are plenty, & usually the ceramics come out okay. I also like the drinks & food. My only complaint is that the staff is is consistently rude & jaded. I work as a waitress myself & can say that on my worst days I've never acted like most of them do every time I go. They don't even come by the table after explaining to clear or take more orders & they have tons of staff, so I don't see why the bad moods are warranted. It's also just a place where people go to enjoy themselves, so the sass is just really jarring.

Céramic Café Studio Montréal is a fun & creative spot where you can paint your own ceramic pieces while enjoying coffee, snacks, & a relaxed atmosphere. It's perfect for a date, family outing, or chill afternoon with friends - choose your pottery, pick from lots of colors, & bring your design to life.

Staff was OK. Showed almost no enthusiasm? Seemed like they all didn't want to be there. We were there on a Wednesday. Place was clean. Had fun decorating :)
