Beautiful presentation: mustard creamy sauce. The vegetable were perfect roasted over the grill. Nice dark streaks. Crust was crispy.
Beef tartare with smoked mackerel
The smoked mackerel adds another level to the taste. It's very dynamic. The flavour profile reminds me of ikura.
Halibut
Succulent & extremely buttery, melt in your mouth fish. The fish was salted, but balanced well when you combined it with the corn which was sweet & the greens.
Lobster with squid ink pasta
Al dente pasta. I really enjoyed the creamy tomato sauce. The lobsters were slightly over cooked, but it didn't matter much. I especially liked the pea shoots on top. It made the dish very unique.
The service: high quality & very attentive. Helped with the blinds when the sun was blinding me. Very friendly & easy to talk to. The food came out relatively quickly, one after the other. The whole team were outstanding.

Resto hyper charmant en coin de rue avec des grandes portes-fenêtres. L'été, tout est ouvert & c'est super agréable. Nous avons commencé la soirée sur la terrasse, qui est entourée de fleurs magnifiques! L'ambiance est super chaleureuse. Nous avons été servi par Amélie, qui nous a vraiment bien accueilli. C'est clair qu'elle est passionnée par ce qu'elle fait & elle connaît très bien ses vins! Elle nous a super bien conseillé 🤩 La nourriture est divine! Nous avons commencé par des huîtres, puis pris les tomates ancestrales & le tartare de boeuf. Ensuite, nous avons partagé un tataki de thon de la Gaspésie & les Paccheri Neri au homard. Tout était délicieux!! Je vous recommande vraiment d'aller manger dans ce beau & bon restaurant de quartier!! Vous allez y vivre une très belle expérience! 😊
Une magnifique découverte! La fraîcheur des plats est remarquable, chaque ingrédient met en valeur la qualité du terroir. J'apprécie énormément que le restaurant collabore avec des entreprises locales. On sent que chaque assiette raconte une histoire de proximité & d'authenticité. Les portions sont parfaitement pensées, idéales pour partager sans excès, ce qui rend le moment encore plus convivial. C'est un vrai bonheur en bouche du début à la fin. Un endroit où l'on repart le coeur & l'estomac comblés!
Casavant earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand & I can see why. The poultry mousse stuffed morels are the kind of dish an inspector would notice & the tender hangar steak with whelks & fiddleheads was an utter delight, if a bit small as a portion size.
Special mention for Casavant's divine twist on the classic profiterole, replacing the cream with rhubarb & ricotta.
Slight hiccup with the paccheri neri (tube-shaped pasta made with black squid ink) served with lobster, pea leaves, & tomato bisque. The bisque needed something, maybe more garlic or seasoning to elevate the dish to where it belongs.
Bib Gourmands are awarded to restaurants that offer what's deemed as good value, & $135 for 2 before drinks, tax, & tip is not too shabby for elevated brasserie appetizers, main dishes, & a shared dessert featuring sought-after in-season ingredients.
Nice wine list too. They even have piquette.
Dress up a little if you want, but not too much. Service is elegant, warm, friendly.
Si vous passez par Montréal vaut le détour. Magnifique petit resto des plus sympathiques. Cuisine intelligente & créative où se mêlent des associations de saveurs innovantes. La carte des vins offre des vins vraiment en accord avec le resto : dignes de mention & qui, encore là, vaut le détour. Un incontournable montréalais pour quiconque aime la bonne cuisine & les bons vins surtout pour ceux qui savent les apprécier. J'ai hâte d'y retourner.
Went for lunch. Beautiful day, all the windows taken down for an inside/outside feel. Food was delicious. Great local ingredients. Servers well versed in the wines & dishes. It all added up to a nice atmosphere & quintessential Montreal experience in a restaurant that cares about what they're doing. A neighborhood gem.
Amazing restaurant! The food is incredible, delicious & original. There's a beautiful atmosphere & the service is warm & attentive. The wine list is extensive, I've discovered really good wines there. A must in Montreal!
Honestly very disappointed with my experience. The food was all extremely bland. Literally nothing i would order again. I was honestly shocked at how bad it was. The service was minimal. Ambiance is lovely.
Je ne sais pas si c'est toujours sur la carte, mais la tarte à la tomate & sardine était exécuté à la perfection & goûtait divinement bon. J'ai adoré ce restaurant, un endroit où on est certain de bien manger.
C'était notre première visite au Casavant, & une très bonne découverte. On commande souvent du tartare de boeuf, & celui-ci avec le maquereau fumé avait un goût umami vraiment réussi.
Le suprême de volaille était exceptionnel, très tendre & savoureux - on ne sait pas comment ils arrivent à cette texture.
La carbonara était bonne, mais un peu trop riche
On reviendra sûrement pour essayer d'autres plats.
Je suis montréalaise & j'aime la gastronomie. Ce restaurant est un Wow. Une noyrritode qualité exceptionnelle. Un raffinement & une recherche dans l'art d'une cuisine simple mais de qualité. Tout est réussi. Le meilleur tartare! Le service de Renaud exceptionnel & bravo à toute l'équipe. De la réservation à l'au revoir vous étiez extra. Longue vie à toute l'équipe. C'est plus qu'un repas c'est une expérience humaine, sensorielle & gustative.
