Casavant is widely celebrated as an exceptional neighborhood destination in Montreal, offering a menu that is consistently praised for its creativity, freshness, and high-quality local ingredients. Diners frequently highlight standout dishes like the scallops, beef tartare, duck, and hanger steak, all noted for their masterful preparation and complex flavor profiles. The atmosphere is consistently described as cozy, warm, and unpretentious, making it a perfect spot for both intimate evenings and gathering with friends. While the restaurant is small and highly popular, requiring reservations well in advance, guests are consistently impressed by the attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable service that enhances the overall dining experience.
A restaurant worth returning to. Menu is focused but compelling & it takes constraint, when dining for two, to select 4-5 dishes to share because all are appealing. Every bite was perfectly balanced & pleasantly rich - with clear care in both conception & execution. The kitchen should be proud. Service was friendly & relaxed, perfectly matched to the space. As a visitor, this is exactly the type of restaurant I wish I had in my home city.
incredible meal from start to finish, probably my most enjoyable restaurant experience in Montréal! the scallops were the highlight of our meal & the sea bass & duck breast were elegant. I'd go back just to enjoy the great interior design & excellent music. amazing place🙌🏾
Had high hope for this Resto, based on review & the traffic laden drive from old Montreal to this place. The space was beautiful & well appointes, from lighting to segmentation of the areas, 5-star on that front.
Service was inconsistent, while one atadd was very attentive as we observed, she wasn't ours, alas. Our waitress, one wearing glasses, was cooly & nonchalant, & taking up an approach of walking from point a to point b without a side glance to check on the needs of her charge. Her unfrinedness contrasts the other staff sharply.
Consequently, the food seemed less tasty. I find the beef starter excellent but the scalp & chorizo made hubby sick once back to the hotel. The fish dish was bland. Generally speaking the offering lacks uniqueness & a flavor punch.
Price was very reasonable. But I much rather pay more to get an outstanding experience than a middle ground that is a mile short.
Not recommending to others with discerning palette.
Interesting menu, everything we tried was really nicely presented & tasty. The tartare with smoked mackerel was simply delicious. Nice wine discovery too. 👍
Wow wow wow wow WOW. Tellement impressionnée. Bouffe spectaculaire, ambiance chaleureuse & service impeccable. Vive Matisse pour sa gentillesse & son accueil. 10/10 would recommend!!!
