Review Summary

Café Vasco Da Gama feels like a little slice of Europe in Montreal, with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that many describe as charming and warm. The vibe, pastries, and coffee are favorites, including a strong espresso and very tasty croissants and nata, and the sandwiches and breads reflect Portuguese roots. The menu is described as fresh and delicious with good value for quality, and the staff are often praised for friendliness and helpful service. The space works well for breakfast, a casual catch up with friends, or a quick lunch, and outdoor seating adds to the European cafe feel. Some reviews note the cafe can be busy and speedy service, occasional long wait for drinks, or high prices for certain items, but the overall impression remains positive: a reliable, pleasant cafe that offers a little European escape in the heart of Montreal.

Very delicious sandwiches. We ate the vegetarian & the beef option & also the yoghurt with honey & fresh fruits was a pleasure.

Such a great spot-this place has quickly become one of my go-to favorites. The coffee is consistently excellent, the salads are fresh & flavorful, & the sandwiches are so well made & satisfying.

I also love that you can grab a glass of rosé, which makes it perfect whether you're stopping by for a casual coffee or meeting friends for something a little more relaxed & social.

The atmosphere is warm & inviting, & the whole experience just feels effortless & enjoyable every time. Definitely a place you'll want to keep coming back to. Ask for Jorge if you're there, he s the best!

Excellent spot for lunch in Montreal. The salad & soup accompanying the sandwiches are fantastic, & the cakes are epic. Definitely drop in here if you are in Montreal.

Very lovely little café, the decor is impeccable! The menu is only in French but they have wonderful bilingual service. We got sandwiches, the Greek salad, a cookie, & some iced drinks - the only complaint I can think of is that the drinks are quite watery, but the food was very good & more than made up for it. Overall a good café choice if you are looking for one.

Dined here 2 times recently, once for lunch & once for breakfast! Both times had a wonderful experience. The sandwiches are delicious!! The bread so fresh & crispy! Loved the sauce! Very pleased!! The plain omelette was great & came with a side of fresh fruit! Staff were friendly as well. Would recommend!!

We had the pruscuitto sandwich & the club Ferreira & bought the canard & fig & another Ferreira to go so the rest of the family can taste it too. Mocha was also good. Service was great & the place was clean & inviting. Sandwiches come with salad , we had the Greek & the beet salad. Both salads were good too.

Cafe that serves lunch sandwiches, omelettes & wine! Great location close to Peel Metro station. I didn't like their seating though, the high tables that are towards the back are really small & unstable. In fact a customer next table accidentally dropped & broke a coffee cup too. The food was okay & the coffee was good. Good variety & options to choose from but place is bit on the pricier side.

Been eating at Vasco for years. Our office often uses them as a caterer & the quality is consistently good. Recently ate in for the first time since the pandemic & it was nice to see nothing had changed. Service rolls quickly even at lunch hour & the sandwiches come out perfectly hot. Prices are good for the quality of food. Definitely recommend the lamb & the duck confit sandwiches. The natas are absolutely fabulous & taste as good as in Portugal. Obrigada!

One of my favorite cafés in MTL, Vasco da Gama is a fancier place to grab a ILLY Espresso & a wide variety of sandwiches & other things.

It's yellow walls & blue sea tiles invite your eyes to feast on it's beautiful decor as it's a great place I'd recommend for a fancier coffee date. Being a Portugese style café, they also have the world famous Portuguese egg tarts called "Natas" & a few portugese imports such as Piri-Piri hot sauce, fancy-schwancy sardines tin cans & a few other interesting finds. Also one can buy a whole can of that high-end renown ILLY coffee in the tin cans so you can enjoy it at home.

A classic on Peel street when you need a break from shopping!!

Vasco is the best spot for a light & healthy lunch in downtown Montreal. I have been eating there for many years. With a cozy European atmosphere & excellent customer service, I would recommend to tourists & locals alike. Food is always fresh & there’s a nice variety of salads & sandwiches
