I am not usually one for the touristy areas but this place manages to keep its own character despite the location. The service was efficient & the space was clean. If you want a good drink without any of the nonsense this is the place to go. I will definitely be stopping back here next time I am in the neighborhood for a meeting.
Everytime i go to old montreal this is my first stop the tiramisu is always a must & the place is just breathtaking you get a view from a beautiful street while drinking your coffee best if you go after the sun is down!
I visited for the first time yesterday & was honestly shocked by the service.
The baristas were incredibly rude & acted like making my order was a major inconvenience.
Beyond the attitude, the drink felt like a total scam. I ordered a medium cortado, but the cup was barely half full. I understand a cortado is a small, traditional drink, but if you offer a'medium' size & charge more for it, you shouldn't be giving customers the same small amount of coffee.
Between the dismissive staff & the misleading pricing, I won't be coming back.
Save your money & go somewhere that actually wants your business.
Went on a sunny but windy day & it was packed with people. The place was very lively but setting the tone for a friendly & inviting atmosphere.
The staff, while being quite busy, was still very friendly & patient with us. They gave us a few rounds of free water while in line & even a little chocolate on the house.
The drinks & snacks were fantastic as well & well worth the roughly 10min wait.
Would happily return next time I'm in the area!
I visited this cafe between 6 & 7 PM recently & had a very disappointing experience.
At first, I tried to overlook the ruined latte art as a simple mistake, but it was extremely rude & unpleasant that the staff cleared away my plate & coffee cup without asking me, simply assuming that I had finished.
What made this even more difficult to understand was that this is not a full-service restaurant with table service, & I had brought my own food & drink to the table myself. In that kind of cafe, it felt very strange for the staff to clear my table without first checking with me. It made me feel as though I was being pressured to leave, even though I was already fully aware that the cafe closes at midnight.
Since I was the only Asian customer in the store at the time, I could not help but wonder whether this was more than simple rudeness & may have been influenced by racial bias. I have worked in cafes & customer service in Canada myself & have visited many restaurants & cafes here, but this was the first time I had experienced service like this. I hope the staff will show basic courtesy in the future by checking with customers before clearing their table.
Had the hot Cafe Latte & while it was above average, it pales in comparison to the Latte Freddo, an iced drink.
Tucked along Old Montreal's cobblestone lined streets stands the exquisite Café Olimpico. The warmly lit, woodsy interior felt cozy & inviting when we first visited on a cold, drizzly Tuesday afternoon. The two young men working that day made us feel very welcome with their friendly conversation & good humor.
I ordered an affogato, & forgot to tell the barista -who had added a cannoli shell-that I have Celiac. But he was very understanding & patiently remade the drink without any complaint. The affogato itself was a heavenly merging of silky hazelnut gelato with the perfect shots of full-bodied espresso.
My kids (who do not have celiac) enjoyed fresh, delicious pastries. Among them was a Bombolini that contained a generous amount of rich, creamy filling.
We enjoyed our experience & can't wait to return!
Reading the reviews, we had to go out of our way to visit Café Olimpico. The quality of the drinks, desserts (bombolina & cannoli) & affogato were outstanding.
As one of my family members has Celiac, we had to be careful of the cannoli shell they put into the affogato. We forgot to mention that, but they happily made a fresh one in a gluten free manner.
Absolutely wonderful service. You cannot go wrong to visit.
I loved the space at Café Olímpico. Cozy, warm, & with many options for drinks & sweets! A good option in Montreal.
