I'm making it a mission to try out the top 100 restaurants in Canada, more specifically, the ones listed in Montréal
BOUILLON BILK was nothing less than spectacular, from start to finish
Every single plate (we did the 8 course tasting menu) was full of flavour, rich umami goodness, perfectly balanced & tapered off towards the dessert. Will certainly come back when there's an updated menu.
P.S The scallops in an Oyster reduction & xo sauce has been one of the most amazing dishes I've had in my life
Delicious dishes served by very competent, friendly & professional staff. Wide ranging wine menu with knowledgable sommelier. The scallops are a must. The tasting menu is adapted to dietary restrictions. Highly recommend.
Everything about my experience at the restaurant was fantastic from the immediate coat service to the attentive server it felt like a Michelin tier restaurant. The tasting menu was fantastic & very artistic. The service was great I can not overstate it, from how they replaced the utensils & plates for each course, wiped the crumbs off the table, described each course, I had a great time.
Absolutely incredible good! We selected the five course tasting menu & it did not disappoint. The crab was amazing & the mocktails with each course were so fun!
Fantastic meal in Montreal.
I came in at opening, was seated promptly for lunch. Service overall was top notch. The staff all worked well, a harmonious dance to get all the food out.
The lunch tasting menu was amazing.
Amouse Bouche of beef tartare, which came on a deep fried potatoe, which needed to be about half the size as it over powered the tartare. The crunch however was nice & I ate it quickly.
The take on Caesar salad was perfection. The charred gen lettuce, small croutons, pickled apple & cucumber, as well as capers & light dressing was a stunner. I'll dream of this.
The main, a'salmon trout', was well thought out with a sauce I could eat by the bucket. Salmon was well cooked.
The dessert was a nice ending. A moist chocolate cake with mango, chocolate mousse & sour cream ice cream. Well done but the mango gelle may have been better served with more fresh mango.
Very happy with service & food on par with other two star Michelin restaurants I have been too (the restaurant is currently not awarded any as Montreal is currently being reviewed).
Great food. We did the 5 course tasting menu & everything was excellent. The drink pairings were really interesting too.
Must visit!! I did the 8 course tasting menu with the discovery wine pairings, which are all Canadian wines. The food was delicious, unique, & stunning. Each aspect was carefully thought out & not a detail overlooked. The staff was efficient, friendly, & perceptive. If you choose the tasting menu as well, be prepared to commit 2+ hours to fully enjoy the experience & don't drive. There's also a coat check, which alleviates the burden of the warming layers. I can't speak highly enough of this restaurant.
I really wanted to love it but I just did not. Nothing was bad it was just extremely underwhelming for the hype & price. Service was nice & accommodating & the food was nice but just nothing special. Potentially issue was in ordering the tasting menu as the a la carte looked great from afar. I rarely leave negative reviews but this was just not the one
Had a fantastic dining experience at Bouillon Bilk! Every dish on the tasting menu was outstanding, & we loved both the non-alcoholic & traditional pairings. A special thanks to our wonderful server, Natalia. Truly an exceptional restaurant!
Had a great time with my family here. I had the tasting menu with wine pairings it was incredible! Amazing flavors & textures. Every dish I had was great. I highly recommend it. it is expensive but you get what you pay for.
Our go to for fine dining in Montreal. We had the 8 course tasting menu with Canadian wine pairings. Some spectacular pairings with innovative food. Service is delightful-proper yet relaxed. Not something you can afford every day, but well worth it for that special date night.
The new space is very beautiful, tall ceilings. Very open airy space, a little dark but goes with the ambiance. They offer tasting menus (5 or 8 courses) as well as a La carte. As it was a special celebration, we went with the 5 course tasting menu. Just a note, the 8 courses are only available after 8 PM. The food was beautifully plated & extremely tasty! Also we were all shocked with the size of the plates. With some other restaurants, their testing menu plates can be pretty small. But here, they were generous! We definitely did not leave hungry! The lamb filled cappellini was so good, it came with mushrooms which my boyfriend hates. But he actually loved these ones which is saying A LOT! The duck was super flavorful & tender. The sauce was amazing! I am missing the picture of the dessert, which was squash-based. Standard Asian compliment for dessert: not too sweet! Lots of different texture elements making it a real treat. The service was excellent. Very attentive & polite! It was a pleasure. This place hasn't disappointed! Last time I visited was 5 years ago & this meal was even better! Definitely recommend for a special occasion!
This is my second time trying the tasting menu within a month, & it still gave me the suprised especially the appetizer. The mix & use of ingredients are great.
Had high expectations given the fantastic reviews, but I was shocked at how bad the food was here. This was undoubtedly my worst meal in all of Montreal during my trip here & the most expensive. Service was cold & sterile. Server was not very detailed when going through the menu. When I prodded about the origin/source of some of the ingredients, our server did not seem to be interested in having that conversation, which was disappointing for a restaurant at this price point. Tried the 5-course tasting menu for dinner. Was disappointed to learn that the 8-course menu was not available for the early seating (I do not believe this was made apparent or obvious during the booking process, but it could have been my oversight), but it ended up working in our favour because each course was subpar. I ordered the non-alcoholic pairing. I am a huge fan of non-alcoholic pairings at fine-dining restaurants across the world & will usually order it when available. They are stunning when executed correctly, but this was mostly a disappointment. Kombucha was alright, but I was severely let down by the dashi drink (which was indistinguishable from instant dashi), as well as the drink paired with the squash dessert. I do have to give credit to the fact that their concoctions were made in-house, as some restaurants just serve off-the-shelf non-alcoholic drinks. Kudos to the sommelier/server serving the drinks, as they did an excellent job explaining the drinks. Onto the food - flavour combinations were uninspiring to say the least. Not going to go through the entire menu but here are some notes: Ravioli with mussels, green peas & mascarpone - basic & boring flavours, over seasoned with a sauce that was overly acidic. Duck with berries, pepper, almonds (supplemented with a slab of foie gras for an extra 20CAD) - The protein itself was cooked well. Garnishes were substandard, however. Saving grace was the foie, which was beautiful, & the among the best I've ever had. Zero balance to the dish however, & the addition of almonds was head-scratching. I did mention this to our server, but they merely chuckled & seemed again to be uninterested in hearing my opinion On the contrary, had a wonderful experience at their sister restaurant, Cadet. Perhaps I came here on an off night.
An extraordinary dining experience, on every level! Perhaps the best I have ever had. We had the five course tasting menu with wine pairings. Each course was highly creative, with interesting colors, textures, & flavors. . .& always incredibly delicious. We enjoyed having both the Canadian & European wine pairings. They were so very different from one another, but both complemented the food perfectly. Kudos to the sommelier, Luec, who did an amazing job! The service could not have been better. Our server, Natalia, was so welcoming & professional, which elevated our experience to an even higher level. . .truly memorable. I would return to Montreal just to dine at Bouillon Bilk!
A Tantalizing Experience. Bouillon Bilk is a must for those who seek an experience like no other. If you are willing to play with different flavours & textures I would highly recommend their tasting menu. An incredible assortment of dishes, uniquely curated to highlight nothing but pure flavour. We left not only satisfied but excited to have experienced such a remarkable set of flavour combinations. We will be back.
Top shelf restaurant with a great tasting menu, they even have a wine pairing menu for each course! Super delicious & little pricey but no complaints we had a lovely time & were full after our tasting they time the courses perfectly.
Excellent dining experience. Very elegant atmosphere & exquisite tasting menu. The food quality & wine selection are top notch! Highly recommend eating here once if you can.
Came a few months ago for their seasonal tasting menu 👌 everything was amazing & service was impeccable. Scallops were some of the best I've ever had!
