I had a really good dinner here. So here's what I ordered:

First up, the meatballs. They were good but lacked a bit of taste. I expected more oomph there. I feel like they were undercooked.

Negroni
It's not a drink I often ordered but I really liked theirs. It strikes that perfect balance of bitterness & subtle sweetness.

Cavatelli barese
I enjoyed it but, like the meatballs, I was left needing more. You can barely taste the Italian sausage & that was what I was looking forward to the most about this dish. Despite that, I wouldn't say no to having it again because the pasta was amazing.

Gnocchi funghi e tartufata
This is what I was told is the highlight of Bistro Amerigo & it absolutely delivered. The texture, the taste, the mushroom sauce. It was perfect. Even the presentation, which, let's be honest, I don't really care about, was beautiful. It's just an esthetically pleasing plate. If you're struggling to decide what to eat, order the gnocchi. Seriously.

Tiramisu
It was alright BUT, I advise you to take my words with a grain of salt as I'm not a big fan of tiramisu in general. Maybe the connoisseurs think it's fantastic. Who knows? I'm not judging.

We also ordered rapini & I forgot to take a picture but, next to the gnocchi, it was my favourite thing. They easily have the best rapini I've had in a restaurant here.

I can't talk about a restaurant like this without mentionning the service & our waitress, Paris, was great. Super pleasant to talk to.

Overall, I loved my evening at Amerigo. We sat outside, the weather was perfect & the food was great. It's a beautiful restaurant to eat at.

One of my favorite things about this restaurant is its location. It's in one of my favorite neighborhoods in Montreal, & in the summer the atmosphere on Monkland is hard to beat. The restaurant itself was packed for a Tuesday night, which made for a great vibe. If you can grab a table on the patio, I'd definitely recommend it. I also liked the casual Italian bistro feel of the space.

The service was friendly & efficient. A small touch I really appreciated was that they leave a bottle of water on the table so you can refill your own glass instead of waiting for service, especially nice on a warm summer evening. They also serve a fresh house salad before the main course, which was a nice way to start the meal, although I found the dressing a bit too salty.

I ordered the carbonara special & was really looking forward to it, but it didn't quite meet my expectations. The guanciale was a little too burnt for my taste, & the cheese was very strong & overpowered the dish; I suspect there was more than just Pecorino & Parmesan. Overall, my pasta, as well as my friend's clam & shrimp pasta, were both a bit too salty. That said, the fresh pasta itself was cooked perfectly. The standout dish of the night was definitely the mushroom gnocchi, absolutely delicious & the one I'd recommend ordering.

The drinks were good (you can't really go wrong with an Aperol Spritz!), & overall I enjoyed the experience. I'd happily come back to try more of the menu, as we've only sampled three pasta dishes. Between the atmosphere, the location, & the welcoming service, I think this place deserves another visit.

Wow! I've lived near this restaurant for years but never bothered to go in before today. Normally, I avoid Italian restaurants because I feel like I could just make the same thing at home, but this place was phenomenal. We split the calamari, a salad, & a gnocchi (I think) dish with mushrooms & Italian sausage. This may have been the best meal I've eaten in years: so flavorful, so delicious! The calamari was done just right, & the sauce on the pasta... we left saying wow over & over as we walked home. I wish they had a lunch menu because we were not prepared for the amount we ate. Fantastic!

Gnocchi - 10. Perfection. We waited almost an hour, but this made it worth it. The sauce was perfect, & the gnocchi was so good - I really felt it was homemade. It was soft & delicious. Only place I like gnocchi. The mushrooms were yummy as well, & I liked the different shapes of mushrooms.
Paper dell - 7 lacks a little salt, I found. Felt like more meat than pasta, not really any sauce. The meat felt a little dry. The pasta shape was so great & felt very fresh.
All in all, cute place - I'll always be a fan. Good ambiance, service is good. Cute dim lighting, perfect for a dinner date with your boo or with your girls. I even waited around 40 minutes in the cold, but it was worth it for the gnocchi mushroom pasta.

I would just like to share my experience through Uber Eats. I was craving gnocchi bolognese but that was not an option on the menu. Nonetheless, I love this restaurant so I ordered anyway. In the comments, I asked if they would possibly sub out pappardelle for gnocchi if they could. Chef Alex not only switched out the pasta, but wrote back an incredibly kind note & included a cannoli. Kindness like this truly restores my faith in humanity. Thank you so very much & I will continue to be a loyal customer!

I really enjoyed my experience at Amerigo. The place is so cute, charming & homey. The gnocchi was sooooo good! Id go back just for that. Not to disregard all the other wonderful items we ate. The polpettes were also a great hit. I would definitely recommend!

overall pretty goood but nothing super amazing (for me at least). tried the fried calamari, mushroom truffle gnocchi, linguini w clam, cavatelli barese & chicken parm. yeah it was all p good :) hard to pick fave cuz they're all so different but it was good to have the variety cuz i think i woulda gotten bored w just one

fyi no reservations. waited 40mins on a friday evening

Not too impressed with the place. I had Gnocchi with the soup & both were good. My girlfriend had Cavatelli with the salad. Salad was pretty basic & missing dressing so a bit dry. The cavatelli was pretty underwhelming too. I'd definitely recommend going for the soup & there might be better pasta dishes to try on the menu than these two. Service was great & quick.

Truly, an amazing dining experience the food was incredible from the pastas to the meats to the fried seafood platter. Chef Alex & his team are true artists in what they do. Great staff, great vibes Really a must try when in the area you will not be disappointed! P.S the truffle gnocchi, chefs kiss !
