What a sweet spot!! It feels like you are having supper with family. Everyone enjoyed their meals, ranging from pasta to meat. They start you with a complementary salad of mixed greens & a yummy dressing.
They don't take reservations so keep that in mind but the service is fast & the food is delicious 😋
Wow! I've lived near this restaurant for years but never bothered to go in before today. Normally, I avoid Italian restaurants because I feel like I could just make the same thing at home, but this place was phenomenal. We split the calamari, a salad, & a gnocchi (I think) dish with mushrooms & Italian sausage. This may have been the best meal I've eaten in years: so flavorful, so delicious! The calamari was done just right, & the sauce on the pasta... we left saying wow over & over as we walked home. I wish they had a lunch menu because we were not prepared for the amount we ate. Fantastic!

Salad - 10
Spinach arancini - 7
Beef arancini - 7
Sauce average.
Gnocchi - 10. Perfection. We waited almost an hour, but this made it worth it. The sauce was perfect, & the gnocchi was so good - I really felt it was homemade. It was soft & delicious. Only place I like gnocchi. The mushrooms were yummy as well, & I liked the different shapes of mushrooms.
Paper dell - 7 lacks a little salt, I found. Felt like more meat than pasta, not really any sauce. The meat felt a little dry. The pasta shape was so great & felt very fresh.
All in all, cute place - I'll always be a fan. Good ambiance, service is good. Cute dim lighting, perfect for a dinner date with your boo or with your girls. I even waited around 40 minutes in the cold, but it was worth it for the gnocchi mushroom pasta.
From the first course onward, the meal showed a clear sense of intention, favoring careful execution over unnecessary flair.
We started generously-both a salad & the soup of the day, a comforting minestrone that tasted like my Nonna had made it. That was followed by the two arancini on offer, each distinct & delicious.
For mains, restraint was not part of the plan. We were excited to hear about the off-menu item: crab-stuffed ravioli in a bisque-style sauce. It was rich without being overwhelming. The gorgonzola ravioli delivered a bold, deeply satisfying contrast. Both dishes wowed us thoroughly. Unapologetically indulgent.
A crisp white wine tied everything together beautifully-though sharing the entire bottle between two people turned out to be more of a commitment than expected 😅🍷
Dessert was non-negotiable: tiramisu & cannolo, both because you can't leave without trying them 🤷?♂?
The ambiance is inviting, the menu thoughtfully curated, & the service genuinely attentive. If it's been on your list, consider this a gentle nudge to finally make the visit. But, bring your appetite because you will be seriously full after this 😜
Bistro America absolutely blew me away! They organized a beautiful, intimate private event for our club & everything was just perfect. The food was AMAZING-& I'm a tough critic!
The beet salad was OUT OF THIS WORLD, the focaccia was WOW, & the polpettes…ouf 😮?💨 My mama makes the best but these came very close (sorry guys but my mama's polpettes will always be #1). The pasta was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of cheese👌🏼& that dessert platter: STUNNING! I may have hogged the tiramisu because it's my favorite dessert & this one was juicy, creamy & absolutely delicious. I'm craving it again as I write this!
The service was impeccable. The atmosphere felt so homey & welcoming. I'm definitely coming back with friends & family.
Thank you Bistro America team for this unforgettable night!
Bistro Amerigo is okay. The veal meatballs were the highlight of the meal. Although they were not exceptional, the tomato sauce was rich in flavor & the veal was pretty good. The squid ink pasta could have been better; the sauce had too much oil, & lacked depth in flavor. The complementary salad was nice & refreshing. I do feel, however, that the service could have been much better. Our waiter was a little rude & condescending. We did not feel heard, not welcome. All in all, I recommend this restaurant for the people that are looking for simple italian dishes & a somewhat nice atmosphere.
I went to this restaurant with my 4 friends today Tuesday August 5th. We sat on the terrace. We all ordered a different dish & everyone loved their food so much. The pasta sauces were very tasty. My friend's lamb was amazing. A lovely spring salad accompanied our meals. They were generous with the portions. Even though it was a Tuesday evening supper hour, there was a bit of a line up. They do not take reservations. There is parking on the street. In my opinion this is one of the best Italian restaurants on Monkland Avenue in the heart of NDG. We will most definitely come back again.

this Italian bistro is a must try. The food was incredibly fresh & full of flavor. Everything we tried was delicious, but the standout for me was the octopus salad - perfectly cooked, tender, & so well-seasoned. We kept coming back each time we always find a new favorite dish. Before this octopus salad was the special fish soup
Has a cute dinner vibe. Had their special of the day which was a torched tuna with a salad, & it was very mediocre. Calamari was good. Was a nice spot but not sure I would go back. Pasta was good but felt like something I very easily could have made at home. Although we sat at the bar it feels like staff walked by us frequently without paying attention when had a question.
I stumbled upon Bistro Ameriko recently, & I have to say, it's a gem in Montreal's dining scene. One of the things that immediately caught my eye was that they offer vongole, which is surprisingly hard to find around here. Naturally, I had to give it a try, & I was not disappointed!
The vongole was everything I hoped for - perfectly cooked pasta with a delicate, briny broth that really let the clams shine. It had just the right balance of garlic & white wine, & every bite transported me to the Italian coast. It's not easy to find a place in Montreal that does vongole right, but Bistro Ameriko nails it.
For lunch, they also serve a simple green salad when you order one of their mains. While the salad isn't fancy, it's a nice touch - crisp greens with a light vinaigrette that complements the meal without overpowering it. It's a thoughtful inclusion that rounds out the plate.
I also tried their fungus pasta, & wow - it was packed with earthy, umami-rich flavors. The mushrooms were cooked to perfection, & the sauce clung to the pasta beautifully, delivering a satisfying, hearty bite every time. It's a dish I'll definitely be coming back for.
Overall, the atmosphere at Bistro Ameriko is warm & inviting, making it a great spot for a relaxed lunch or dinner. The service is friendly, & it's clear that they put a lot of care into their food. I'm already planning my next visit - there's so much more on the menu I want to explore. If you're in Montreal & looking for a place that offers both classic favorites & hard-to-find gems like vongole, Bistro Ameriko is absolutely worth a visit.

Solid Italian in NDG, probably the best in the neighborhood. We went for lunch.
We shared the polpete as appetizers, which tasted great. We then had the eggplant pasta & the duck pasta. They were served with a very tasty green salad. Both were good, & portions were super generous, we could barely finish, but we weren't wowed.
Service was quick, & the place is very charming & cosy.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience, we'll come back for dinner to try other dishes & see how that compares.
Not too impressed with the place. I had Gnocchi with the soup & both were good. My girlfriend had Cavatelli with the salad. Salad was pretty basic & missing dressing so a bit dry. The cavatelli was pretty underwhelming too. I'd definitely recommend going for the soup & there might be better pasta dishes to try on the menu than these two. Service was great & quick.
I recently visited Bistro Amerigo with my boyfriend, & while I was excited to try it based on all the good things I'd heard, the experience left me with mixed feelings. The restaurant is super small & doesn't take reservations, so we ended up waiting about 30-45 minutes to be seated. As soon as we sat down, someone came to take our order before we even had a chance to look at the menu. We ordered a glass of wine each, along with the meatballs, octopus, & cavatelli barese pasta (with Italian sausage & broccoli), which came with either a soup or salad as a side. Both entrees & the wine arrived within about two minutes of ordering, which felt a bit rushed. The meatballs were amazing, & the octopus was good, though slightly chewy. The pasta was also delicious & tasted authentic-I even ended up taking the leftovers home. While the food was generally impressive & felt true to its Italian roots, the pace of the service made the meal feel rushed, & it was clear they wanted to turn over tables quickly-we were in & out within 40 minutes. The place itself has a really cool vibe, but the rushed atmosphere kind of took away from the experience for me.
Small quaint place & full of people. Obviously a well known place in the area as a lot of people seemed to be regulars. Food & service was good. Salads included in your order ! I'd go back.

We were 2 couples. When we arrived terrace tables were available. They didnt offer that & put us inside at a table with high (not the most comfortable) chairs. Service was a bit off. They took our order & then someone else came to take our order! Had to ask for water refill. Their included salad was meh. Main dishes were good. The restaurant has AC, but it was very hot inside. When we asked they said the AC wasn't working. They should have told us that from the start & that would have been a'great' reason to ask us when we arrived if we wanted terrace seating. By the time they asked if we wanted dessert or coffee, we were so hot we got the bill & went out for a walk.
Where do I even start! You think you're waiting a long time, but the second you get there they give you a complimentary salad, bread, & 5 smiles. A burrata to start, perfect. Now comes the star: the truffle gnocchi & the à la Norma! These 2 dishes paired perfectly together. The gnocchi is PERFECTION but very rich. & the Norma balances it out. These dishes are so good, it felt surreal. & then we ordered dessert, a perfect end to the meal. Tiramisu & pistachio gelato, so light. The real highlight, besides the amazing food & beautiful ambiance, was the service. We felt like part of the family by the end. Everyone there was so welcoming & loving, & they just wanted us fed. Such a warm place to be, we must go back next Thursday!
While the wait can take a bit of time, it was definitely worth it! My friend loves this place & suggested it for us to go dine in. Each primi comes with a side of salad or soup + you get complimentary bread. For the main, I am usually not a big fan of gnocchi but their gnocchi funghi e tartufata was divine; you will love it. I did not enjoy my cocktail - the margarita azzuro, if you are into sweeter drinks, do not order that one.
Everyone here is so incredibly friendly, the service is quick & very professional. It's not often you get a full service meal anymore (bread & salad) so it's refreshing. I typically go for the mushroom gnocchi- it has yet to disappoint. There's nothing like sitting on their terrasse & sipping a cold spritz on a warm summer evening. Great date spot or somewhere to impress the in-laws. Make sure you go put your name down early to get a table though, they're so popular it's often full.
