Been about 4 years I'm coming here & I can say Bernie Beigne is the best to do it. Lines are long but the wait is short. Tip: If you like apple fritters, do whatever you can to get here. Seriously, run don't walk.
These guys know how to make donuts the real way, not only does it taste amazing they're very generous on the toppings. The best Apple fritter in city. Wait till you taste their carrot cake doughnut.
There are so many donut to choose from so my husband got half a dozen assorted & an apple fritter (not pictured). The donuts were soft & fluffy. The kids definitely enjoyed the colorful donuts & toppings however I found it to be ok & bit too sweet.
I'm not usually an apple fritter person but this apple fritter was amazing! Huge, probably 4x the size of a regular apple fritter & it was also soft & delicious. I had some leftover & it was still soft the next day. It's definitely a must get!
Bernie Beigne: A Sweet Spot in Montreal! • If you're a fan of donuts & find yourself in Outremont / Montreal, Bernie Beigne is a must-visit. This cozy little hole-in-the-wall serves up an incredible selection of donuts that are as flavorful as they are unique. From the classic to the inventive, each donut is crafted with care & bursts with flavor in every bite. • The highlight? The massive apple fritter. It's not just the biggest apple fritter I've ever seen, but also one of the best. Crisp on the outside, soft & perfectly spiced on the inside, it's an experience all on its own. • Adding to the charm is the friendly service that makes you feel right at home. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Bernie Beigne is well worth the stop for a sweet treat.
This donut shop was oh so amazing! This busy spot has the best donuts in Montreal. The apple fritter is massive & so worth every bite
Unbelievable. Best doughnuts hands down, The apple fritter is the craziest thing ever.
We loved the regular doughnut, nothing fancy, pure soft & fluffy dough with sugar dust. The texture tastes very similar to the Voodoo doughnut from west coast, softer than La beignerie. Great value for the price you pay. The fritter is humongous. But the dough is not to our taste, it was quite thin at some parts which is crispy but greasy, with a thick icing, a few bites is more than I can take. But I would definitely recommend the glacé & sucre.
The best doughnuts in Montréal? Do yourself a favor & try the apple fritter! A piece of heaven in doughnut form :)
I love Bernies so much. I live in New York, & this is my first stop anytime I'm in Montreal. The glaze & apple fritter are a chef's kiss!
Apple fritters as big as your head - maybe next time I don't need 12... but delicious. Service was they were accommodating when we asked for 6 small boxes instead of a large. Line up out the door - which clearly is a testament to how delicious they were . Gold star!
Apple fritter was definitely our favourite. Friendly staff with great service. Cool vibes. Very very good prices!
Bernie's Donuts: A Hit & Miss Bernie's Donuts used to be a go-to spot for me, but unfortunately, things have changed. While their apple fritter remains a standout, the once-incredible chocolate glazed donut has taken a disappointing turn. The apple fritter is a true gem. It's packed with flavor, incredibly satisfying, & surprisingly not overly sweet. A fantastic value for the price, it's a must-try for any donut lover. However, the chocolate glazed donut, a former favorite, is now a shadow of its former self. The rich, decadent chocolate glaze that used to coat the donut has been replaced by something resembling a thin chocolate syrup. It's a real letdown for those who remember the donut in its prime. While the apple fritter keeps Bernie's Donuts in the running, I hope they can revisit the chocolate glaze recipe & bring back that old-school deliciousness.
Place is just top notch... If you're a real yeasted donut lover, this is your spot. It's always pretty fresh, dough is clearly handled by people who know fermentation, frying is on point. I stick to simpler flavors because I really want to taste the dough. I think some of their filled donuts have *too* much filling. But these are just my preferences - you can't really go wrong, I think. Prices are really good too for the size & quality. A glazed donut here is like half the price of a typical croissant, which is amazing. Also, the employees are very kind & efficient without making you feel rushed. The apple fritters are limited, but if you happen to see them, they're a must-buy!
Apple fritter the size of your head, donut exploding with flavor! Fairly small line so got lucky but was not a long wait.
We traveled from Kitchener & tried to get the apple fritter but they were sold out!!! (Better luck next time!!!) The owner apologized many times & explained how & when to get the apple fritters. But we got other donuts from their shop!!! Even if we didn't get the fritters all those donuts were out of this world!!! Even my wife, who doesn't eat donuts, loved them! Great job Bernie!!
Best donuts in Montreal. Get the Apple fritter. They are super tasty but huge, family size
I watched YouTube, learned this store, specifically went to taste the Apple Fritter, doesn't make me disappointed. I tried to buy one, it was fresh, ate half of it in the street , then I decided to buy another one & carry back to home. Luckily the other side of the street there is a coffee shop, I could enjoy the piece with coffee, what a wonderful day it was!
Omgoodness the Apple Fritter is massive & beyond delicious, I was so afraid we would be too late & they would have run out! Well worth the drive from New Hampshire!
