You can tell they're super fresh & flavorful! Today, I placed an order myself & requested a mix.. I dove straight in, trying the boston cream (best custard I've tasted in a doughnut so far) & the double chocolate, which was really decadent. My son had a little bit of the M&M & chocolate sprinkles topped with the brownie.. he voted the M&M as his top! Can't wait to try the rest! My husband definitely loves the classics, where you can appreciate the freshness of the dough a lot more!
Delicious donuts that aren't too greasy. Fresh & soft, variety of flavors & really nice staff.
We had Bernie's donuts at our Scientista symposium, & they were amazing! Great management, easy to work with, & quality food. I loved the wide variety of donuts & their different flavors! Would definitely recommend & I will be ordering again/visiting soon!
I had been hearing about Bernie Beigne from so many people that I finally decided to give it a try, & I am so glad I did. When I arrived, there was a lineup to enter the store, which honestly made me even more curious. It is clearly a popular spot. The place itself is pretty simple & not fancy at all, but do not let that fool you. The donuts truly stand out.
These are easily some of the best artisanal donuts you can find in the city. They are fresh, flavorful, & clearly made with care.
The lineup is absolutely worth the wait. I will definitely be coming back to try more flavors.
These donuts are really good! It was my first visit, & the employee was so friendly & helpful, recommending some great choices. The dough is wonderfully soft without being too sugary. I especially love the plain one because you can really savor the flavor of the dough itself.
Its a hit & miss flavors situation. The donuts is more like cake texture.
If you like donuts, you CANNOT go wrong with this place...
Decadent, over the top, rich flavors...
Above the competition, for sure
You have to experience the apple fritters when they come out of the oven! Yum! I wish there were more cake donut flavors, but the main fonts have perfect texture & smooth glossy icing!
🍩✨ Bernie Beigne is amazing!
I tried the Glacé & the Boston-both were so delicious 😋💛. I would have loved to try all the flavors, but with the rain/snow outside 🌧❄? & no car, I had to enjoy them on the spot instead of taking a box for a relaxed tasting 🥲.
Hopefully next time in Canada I can try them all! 🥰🇨🇦
Amazing donuts, best in North America! I'm from Chicago, where cake donuts are the norm. We don't do yeast donuts well. So coming to Bernie Beigne is always a treat! Their donuts are extremely soft, never tough or dry. Toppings are flavorful & very generous - just look at the bacon. Staff are quick & welcoming. Flavor selection is impressive, no bad choices. I wish it was closer to me!
Bernie Beigne wasn't on my radar while I was in Montréal with my family, yet it ended up being one of the most memorable eats of our trip. So much so, we ended up going twice. I'd even go as far as saying the donuts here are the best I've had yet.
The donuts had a great, fluffy & airy texture. Of the 8 I tried, the cotton candy was my favorite. It was the most visually appealing, & wasn't overly sweet considering it was cotton candy flavored. The Boston cream was my second favorite. It was easily the heaviest donut of the 8 because of its filling, but was the highest quality Boston cream I've had. The rest of the donuts were all worth getting, but the two mentioned above stood out the most. Below is my ranking of all the donuts I tried:
1. Barbe à Papa (Cotton Candy)
2. Crème Boston (Boston Cream)
3. Oreo
4. Caramel Salé (Salted Caramel)
5. M&M
6. Crème Sure (Sour Cream)
7. Simpsons
8. Kit-Kat
Whether you're a donut connoisseur or just someone looking for something sweet to eat l, I can't recommend this enough.
Some of the best donuts 🍩 I've ever had! Whether you go for a classic or one of their filled options, every bite is fresh, flavorful, & satisfying-& they definitely don't hold back on the filling.
Even just waiting outside, you can smell the sweetness in the air & see the donuts hanging in the window, making your mouth water before you even step inside. The shop has a fun, welcoming vibe & everything feels handmade with care.
An absolute must-stop in Montreal for any donut lover. I'll be dreaming about these until my next visit.
Hands down the best donut shop we've ever visited-an absolute must-try! We're donut critics & make it a point to sample local shops wherever we travel. This place blew us away. The donuts were unbelievably fresh, soft, & packed with flavor-truly next-level delicious.
We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner & his family, & their warmth & hospitality made the experience even more memorable. There's something special about a small business that treats its customers like family. From the service to the quality, everything was five-star.
We had it two days in a row & will try to go once more before we head out!
The dough they use for their donuts is incredible - so light, fluffy, soft, but still a substantial bite. Honestly, the perfect donut. Their flavors are also so good. We got the basic glazed & maple glazed & it was still good the next day. A warm donut here is just heavenly! 100% worth it. We're just bummed we got here too late & the apple fritter was all sold out.
Their classic glazed doughnuts are top tier, also enjoyed Kit Kat & maple bacon flavors
I think Bernie Beigne might've redefined everything I thought I knew about donuts. I've had many donuts throughout my life in many cities, from traditional shops to artisanal donut shops. So I was familiar with the texture & taste of yeasted & cake donuts. But then I got the Simpsons donut & the Coco Choco.
Simpsons: It's such a simple donut. But it's probably one of the best donuts I've ever had. It was so soft & fluffy, I was a little bit in shock after my first bite. I've never had a yeasted donut quite like that. There can be a wrong way to do glaze, but Bernie does it very right here -- not too sweet, & it doesn't leave a dry taste in your mouth. & I didn't feel guilty eating this donut at all, it didn't feel or taste oily.
Coco choco: This could rival cakes from actual bakeries with how moist & soft it was. It's glazed & then covered in coconut, so it had an amazing crispiness on the outside. The flavor hit with that chocolate & hint of nutmeg.
I would get their donuts daily for every meal if I lived nearby. I'll for sure be getting more whenever I'm in the area, though I don't need any more convincing that this is THE place for donuts. But of course, I wouldn't be returning if the people here weren't so darn friendly & efficient, so big shout out to the staff here as well.
These doughnuts absolutely live up to the hype-flaky, airy, & downright delicious! Be prepared to wait in line (& outside) & make sure you have Canadian cash on hand. We tried the glazed & cinnamon sugar doughnuts, & while I'm sure the other flavors are great, there's no need to add any extra toppings. The classics are truly the way to go
Bernie Beigne: A Sweet Spot in Montreal! • If you're a fan of donuts & find yourself in Outremont / Montreal, Bernie Beigne is a must-visit. This cozy little hole-in-the-wall serves up an incredible selection of donuts that are as flavorful as they are unique. From the classic to the inventive, each donut is crafted with care & bursts with flavor in every bite. • The highlight? The massive apple fritter. It's not just the biggest apple fritter I've ever seen, but also one of the best. Crisp on the outside, soft & perfectly spiced on the inside, it's an experience all on its own. • Adding to the charm is the friendly service that makes you feel right at home. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Bernie Beigne is well worth the stop for a sweet treat.
I came nearing closing time on a Sunday & there was only one type of donut left. I was also the before last person that got a doughnut so I got extremely lucky. Honestly, I'm so happy I made it in time although I was forced to choose the remaining cinnamon, original classic donut. This donut was pure perfection. It was fluffy. It was freshly fried & crispy. It was sweet, the flavours were well balanced. It was genuinely delicious. The guy at the counter was extremely friendly & the price was really good at two dollars a doughnut I can't wait to come back soon & try different flavors.
I think these are the best donuts in Montreal. We tried quite a few places, but this one is really good. The dough, flavor, & aftertaste are great, & we don't taste the old oil. We love the Boston cream, maple bacon donut, original glazed donut, Kit Kat, raspberry, & Nutella. It's super messy when you eat the Nutella, but it's worth it. We will definitely come back for more.
