While the space is compact and popular enough to sometimes feature lines, the overall experience is considered a must-try for any pastry lover visiting the city.
This cozy & quaint little place completely stole my heart! As a tourist, I walked in & instantly fell in love with the vibe. Even the customers were so friendly & welcoming. One lovely man who happened to be a regular even shared his table with me since there are only two tables indoors, & we ended up chatting & getting to know each other for almost an hour. It was such a lovely, unexpected experience! I tried their famous dessert with an Americano, & it really hit the spot! 😍 The whole experience was such a wonderful surprise & definitely one of the highlights of my trip. I'd absolutely come back here the next time I'm in Montreal, even all the way from Vancouver! 💙
Their name sake 3.5 cad & chausson aux pommes 3.5 cad were bang for the buck , they have kept the prices low by saving on packaging & other smart things , must try if you are in the city , by the way their name comes from Brittany region of France where they speak Breton language!
Cute place & fast & efficient friendly staff. I'm disappointed in the kouin Amann, but I've tried all kinds before. This one is heavy & dense & A Lot of butter. It has a good caramelized crust but very moist as if undercooked. I was expecting a lighter texture. The almond croissant is soft & almost like raw in the he centre . Could not tell the almond flavo
Au Kouign Amann on Avenue du Mont Royal is truly a special place. The kouign amann here is absolutely incredible, with perfectly crispy, caramelized edges & those beautiful flaky, buttery layers. Paired with a hot latte, it is one of those simple food experiences that becomes an unforgettable travel memory.
What really stood out to me, though, was the old school kindness. After calling while battling jet lag, they were kind enough to save a couple of golden kouign amann for me when I thought I had already missed my chance. That small gesture made the experience even more memorable.
There is something special about a neighborhood institution that focuses on doing one thing exceptionally well instead of chasing every trend. Au Kouign Amann has truly mastered its craft, & it is the kind of place worth traveling across an ocean for. Highly recommended!
Wow...wow, wow!!
We came for the namesake & it was everything I hoped for & more. Buttery, delicate, sweet...incredible. I already want to start planning my next trip back to Montreal just to have it again.
The service was also very friendly, so that was just an added bonus.
Not exaggerating, this is the best bakery I've ever been to. Everything was incredibly fresh & flavorful.
I never usually get a plain croissant, but theirs was amazing: buttery, rich, perfectly crispy, & so fresh. Their special pastry was also unlike anything I've had before & is officially my new favorite.
