I've been wanting to check out this place for a long time, I did find it had more of a bar experience, then an actual loungy speakeasy. But, what did make up for it. Was tony, first greets you with this delicious concoction that they give to you before you're seated. & then when you are seated the drinks are pretty magical. I tried a alcoholic & a mocktail cocktail & both were magnificent. It's not a really big place I would recommend going before 9:00pm, just to avoid a line. But other than that it's quite a lovely experience to check out.

Amazing bar!
Starting from Tony that greeted us upon arriving the entrance of the bar, to the music & mocktails !
The music got everyone singing & moving, the mocktails tasted great (got fa americano & a raspberry beer), & overall the service was really good. Will definitely come back !
There are great bars… & then there are unforgettable experiences - & Jess at Atwater Cocktail Club is the reason this place sits in a league of its own.
From the moment we sat down, Jess brought an energy that completely set the tone for the night. It wasn't just service - it felt personal. She took the time to understand exactly what we were in the mood for, & somehow turned that into drinks that were not only perfect, but genuinely memorable. Every cocktail felt intentional, like it was crafted specifically for us.
What makes Jess different is her presence. She's warm, locked in, & effortlessly creates a vibe that makes you want to stay longer, order one more round, & just enjoy the moment. You can tell she loves what she does - & it shows in every interaction, every recommendation, every detail.
I've been to a lot of bars… but I can confidently say Jess is the best bartender I've ever had. This wasn't just a night out - this is the kind of experience that makes you come back again & again.
I'll 100% be returning & it's entirely because of her.
Lived up to every hype :) our bartenders Jess, Yann, Damian & David were amazing! Jess might just make you her special key lime cocktail which is to die for! Food, music, ambiance all of it an absolute 10/10! A true Montreal gem
Amazing time at ACC. Beautiful setting, relaxed atmosphere, highly creative drink menu & expert service & craftmanship from Gabriel at the bar. The food menu after 6:00 pm is an absolute must-try as well!

Nice people should be appreciated. Came here for the first time tonight- Jayden & Jess were so kind & professional. Absolutely loved watching them make the drinks.
Tony was also such a sweetheart. He even made sure my partner & I had a seat at the bar. So thoughtful.
First things first: finding the place is part of the fun. In proper speakeasy fashion, the entrance is tucked away in an alley, hidden just enough to make you feel like you've stumbled upon a secret society dedicated to excellent cocktails. Cute.
Once inside, the décor is delightfully over the top - dramatic, moody, & unapologetically stylish - exactly what you'd expect from the folks at @groupebarroco. It feels theatrical, like stepping onto the set of a very glamorous late-night scene.
The drink menu is well thought out, with a long list of signature cocktails that clearly lean into the flair & creativity of the bar team. The ones we tried were delicious & undeniably flashy with a bit of drama & make the table next to you curious about what you ordered.
In hindsight, we probably should have asked for a classic martini or something equally simple to truly test the bartenders' skills. But alas, we fell right into the trap they so expertly set: intriguing descriptions, clever ingredients, & a menu designed to lure you toward their signatures. & honestly… we're not really mad about it.
Now, about those'Top Bars in Canada' lists. One can't help but wonder how those actually work. Do they send someone to every bar in the country? Is there a secret panel of extremely well-hydrated judges traveling coast to coast? Or do certain places simply become very good at attracting the right kind of attention?
(We may know the answer to that… but that's a conversation for another time.)
For now, we'll say this: Atwater Cocktail Club delivers on atmosphere, creativity, & a sense of occasion. Whether you're chasing one of Canada's most talked-about cocktail bars or just looking for a fun night out behind a hidden door, it's worth stepping into the alley for.
This was the kind of bar you only see in movies. Andy was a phenomenal host & took his time to get to know us & chat about the area & drinks with us! This was such a beautiful evening & the drinks were SO good & there were plenty of options. The best part about all of it was that they were not that expensive & there were also n.a. Drink options so anyone could enjoy a fancy beverage. The bar is kind of in an alley with graffiti on the door so be on the lookout.
J'y suis allée seule un jeudi soir vers 18 h & j'ai vraiment adoré l'ambiance. Les serveurs étaient super gentils & les barmans très expérimentés. L'endroit a une très belle atmosphère & j'ai vraiment apprécié mon expérience. J'y retournerai sans hésiter !!

Ce restaurant chic est une vraie perle pour les amateurs d'ambiances raffinées. Dès l'entrée, le décor donne le ton : élégant, feutré, parfaitement dosé entre luxe & confort.
Mais le vrai show commence au bar. Les cocktails « smoky » sont tout simplement hypnotisants - présentés sous cloche, enveloppés de fumée parfumée, ils arrivent à table comme de petites oeuvres d'art. L'effet visuel est incroyable… & le goût est encore meilleur. Chaque gorgée est riche, complexe, parfaitement équilibrée.
Having worked in the industry for over 12 years, not only were the cocktails perfectly on par but the staff was friendly, welcoming & completely in their element. A special shout out to Andy who took care of us the whole evening. The bartenders looked like they were enjoying what they were doing & the surprise of having a bouncer be the host also added to the cool factor. Definitely would recommend 11/10
I went to Atwater Cocktail Club last night & honestly… never again. The moment I walked in, there was a strong, unpleasant smell at the bar - almost like aged cheese. Not exactly the vibe.
I always order a martini to test a bartender's skills, & this was hands down the worst martini I've ever had. Weak, no balance, no flavor, just… big. The other drinks weren't any better - nothing unique, nothing craft about them.
To make things worse, the host/bouncer kept passing gas right near the entrance. I wish I was joking. It was genuinely nauseating & made the whole experience even more uncomfortable.
For a place that's supposed to be a speakeasy with great cocktails, this was a huge disappointment. Definitely not worth the hype.
I loved this place! I chose this as the first bar to go to on my 18th birthday, when I travelled from northern Ontario to Montréal back in May. I was told Happy Birthday at the door haha
Our server was really nice, & gave me & my friend I was with a yummy free shot because It was my birthday & conversed with us, He was really nice! They made a really good Singapore sling. They were sadly out of Escargot when I went! :-( But thats ok, because the oysters were amazing & so were the drinks. I did not have the beef tartare, but my friend did & liked it. Awesome & I cannot wait to go back! ^_^
