Best brunch on the island & its not even close. Get a Caesar & either the salami sandwich or the McArthur sandwich (cutlet) & get the syrnikis to share (although I can never decide whether the ricotta is better off standing on its own or if adding the bananas is worth it).
(Dealing with the wait time for a table: usually I wouldn't, but this place is that good… go across the street to browse Librarie Saint-Henri & you can also grab a coffee at either Campanelli or Bar Bara, where you can even grab an aperitif if the brunch is gonna be boozy anyway.)
I had been hearing great things about Arthur's Nosh Bar for a long time, so I was excited to finally give it a try. The interior was one of the highlights for me-the décor is very close to my personal style, with a warm, charming bistro atmosphere that immediately made me feel at home.
We arrived on a Saturday morning around 9:30 a.m. & were the first people on the waiting list, but it still took about 25 minutes to get seated. We placed our order pretty quickly, but the food took another 20-25 minutes to arrive.
Since the kitchen is open, the noise from dishes being collected & stacked carried into the dining area. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it did make the space feel a bit louder than expected. Our table was also right beside a narrow walkway, so people were constantly brushing past us, which wasn't the most comfortable seating location.
That said, the food was excellent. The French toast was delicious, & the portion size was perfect for one person. I'm particularly sensitive to the smell of eggs, & I was pleasantly surprised that the eggs were fresh & had no unpleasant odor at all.
Unfortunately, their espresso machine was out of service that day, so the coffee wasn't quite what I had hoped for.
Overall, I really enjoyed my visit. The food quality & beautiful atmosphere outweighed the minor inconveniences, & I would definitely come back-next time, I'd just ask for a different table. 😊☕🥞🍳
Best pancake, love the service & vibe. Coffee & juice are great. One of my favorite spot
Arthur's Nosh Bar is a really good brunch spot in Montreal. What we like most is the cottage cheese pancakes & the fried eggs, everything is super flavorful & well done.
They don't have an espresso machine, but that doesn't bother us since we actually prefer filter coffee.
Overall, it's an excellent spot for breakfast or brunch in the city. Just keep in mind they don't take reservations, so you usually have to wait a bit, especially on weekends.
Awful. Overrated. Worst filter coffee of my life. I barely drank it & they charged my 4$! I literally saw people coming in with coffee from across the street from Cafe Campanelli! Also they don't have certain thinks on the menu in the week which was disappointing. What I ordered wasn't anything special. The latkas were good. The best thing were the pancakes but there were only 2 & it's 18$...ridiculous. Never going back.
The place is loud, organisation is average & also 4.75 for a filter coffee is bad. The server also was rude, he said to the other table « this is not McDonald, he won't take 5 min » when they ask about the time. The energy is bad but food is good. Everything from that place put me off, the food is not enough to keep me coming back.
A cute little breakfast/brunch spot, with retro decor & standard kosher breakfast selection: latkes, creamy scrambled eggs, gravlax on the rye or bagels, & their signature item, an inch thick fluffy syrniki( cheese pancakes). The items on the menu are somewhat limited (as is their coffee selection), but fresh, if a little plain to my taste. It is the service that needs some attention in my opinion.
Arthur's Nosh Bar is a cozy & vibrant spot offering delicious comfort food with a modern twist. The menu features hearty sandwiches, flavorful breakfast options, & freshly brewed coffee - all made with quality ingredients. The staff is friendly, & the service is quick, making it perfect for both casual meals & relaxed hangouts. With its warm atmosphere & tasty dishes, Arthur's Nosh Bar delivers an unforgettable dining experience.
Really fantastic place. Make sure you are either prepared to wait a while, or show up at opening time. We were prepared for the long wait, so we enjoyed a coffee at a nearby cafe as we waited for a table to be ready.
The staff member who was in charge of the waitlist was really great. He was perfectly comfortable in both English & French, & very friendly.
Our food was excellent, & came out quickly! I would also recommend the strawberry lemonade iced tea, which was super yum & not too sweet.
Food is good but very overpriced expect to pay at least 70$ for two people & a very very tasteless coffee. 45 minutes wait time as well
I had an absolutely wonderful experience!
The breakfast sandwich & Syrniki were absolutely amazing - a true explosion of flavors!
The staff was incredibly professional & friendly.
If you prefer non-filtered coffee, you are allowed to grab it from the coffee shop across the street.
We went in the middle of the week in the morning- there was no wait- which was great :)
I had forgotten how great this place is, & it felt so nice to be back!
PS: I tried their butter cookie for the first time - LOVE!!
A good old fashioned Jewish deli with the traditional offerings as well as some Arthur's-only creations. I had the Syrniki (cottage cheese pancakes) & the gravlax while my partner had the matzah ball soup. All were delicious. If you want a good cup of coffee go across the street.
We came here on a Sunday morning. We had to wait an hour for a table, but the hostess let us know. The best thing we had was the pancakes. If you are torn between pancakes & anything else, go with the pancakes. Delicious & filling. The deluxe hot chocolate is of the best we have ever tried. Definitely worth ordering. The service was excellent considering how busy it was. The McArthur chicken sandwich is ok. It hits the spot but you aren't going here for this. The fries with vinegar are mostly potato trimmings, not so much actually French fries. You know when you have fries & there little pieces at the end- it is a bowl of that. The latkes were ok. Again, you are not coming for this. The coffee was not good. Unfortunately my glass had that egg smell/taste that often happens at breakfast places. Even the replacement glass was the same. Because of the size of the place & the constant opening of the door, it was freezing & we had to keep our coats on to eat. Definitely worth coming & waiting an hour for the pancakes & hot chocolate.
Very good brunch. The Jack Johnson pancakes are top notch. The "scramble" is just okay - I wouldn't order again. However the food quality is very high & I would definitely return & try other items. Btw they told us it'd be a 30 min wait but it was only 10. They take your number & text you & give you 10 mins to appear. There are 2 cafes across the street where you can grab a coffee & wait.
Exceptional service & quality. Of particular note is the superb brewed coffee. Highly recommended!
We just had the best breakfast in Montréal, & it definitely lives up to the hype! The atmosphere is vibrant, & the servers are always attentive, ensuring that service remains top-notch without compromising on the quality of the food. We tried the Syrniki cottage cheese pancakes & the Moroccan toast, both of which were hearty & absolutely worth every penny. The coffee was excellent too. Reminded us of one of those vintage cafes that you see on Pinterest. Anyone who visits this place is sure to leave as a fan. Sending lots of love from Ottawa!
An extremely busy restaurant with long lineups but trust me, the wait is so worth it! We started with coffee & cranberry juice iced tea & moved into the best breakfast- Grand slam & Scrambled Eggs ❤️ Each bite was exquisitely delicious & for dessert we had the Nutella babka ❤️ Cannot wait to come back, wait in the lineup & try other items on the menu ☺️
An excellent brunch place in a lovely Montreal neighbourhood. As we went early in the morning, we didn't wait at all. The interior is very funky & cute. My husband loved the salami dish. The salmon bagel was delicious. However, the service was a bit awkward. If you're a coffee fanatic, be aware this place only has drip coffee.
We had the Smorgasbord, blueberry syriki, & coffee. I will definitely be back! The food was amazing! I was surprised at how fluffy & good it was. It was a perfect amount of sweet. I will come back just for the pancake. The fried chicken from the grand slam was spicy full of flavor. I can't wait to come back.
