Dinner for 5. Service=good overall but waited quite a while for waiter/water. Also, food runners brought wrong dishes to wrong people twice. Waiter (Pascal) was friendly, fun & funny.
Food: Bread rolls were good but some were not that fresh. Grilled octopus app was good but not great & had a weird chimichanga sauce. Definitely not worth $30. French onion soup was not hot & the cheese barely melted=someone took it out of the oven way too early. Sent it back & 2nd time around it was hot & melted & broth quite tasty. Grilled veggies that came with steaks for $12 were a let down. Burger de Dave (topped with aged cheddar, maple-glazed bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles & chipotle aioli. Served with golden fries. ) was good but a bit messy because of the aioli, & the meat is not well seasoned. Filet mignon was very good, as was the Miso glazed salmon. Overall a good meal but not great bang for your buck at around $70 per person without booze. Keg offers better overall food & value.
Nice restaurant, a lot to choose from to order. The steaks were tough. The filet had to be sawed with the steak knife when it was cooked medium. It was a little over cooked. The cap steak was incredibly not worth it. Very little flavor also tough & maybe 6-8 ounces of meat for $68. Have a hard time believing these steaks were prime. Would not visit again.
We had our annual company Christmas party there this year & wow!! Incredibly good food with very professional staff. We were in a semi-private room & it was just awesome. I'm hoping we have our Christmas supper there again next year. Thank you!
Food was delicious. The ambience was great. My son had the lobster. We had sushi & the Greek salad. We would certainly go back again.

I dined here alone on Christmas Eve to treat myself. When I arrived, I was greeted with'ni hao' & asked why I was dining alone. Later, while waiting for my steak to be remade (it was overcooked, though it was replaced), another waiter again greeted me with'ni hao.'
I just wanted to share some feedback that it can feel uncomfortable when a guest's nationality or language is assumed based on appearance. I was born & raised in Canada, & while I look Asian, I don't necessarily speak Mandarin.
Dining alone should feel comfortable & welcoming. I came in simply hoping to enjoy a nice meal & a quiet evening.

I am visiting from Toronto & met a couple Montréal friends for lunch. The lunch menu is a GREAT deal! I had the Chef Special, a tasty tender meaty lamb shank, for only $26. & a glass of Douro red for $12. Our waiter Yannick was very friendly & helpful. Would highly recommend Vargas for weekday lunches.
Came in for a birthday dinner & left very satisfied.
Drinks came fast & we're very reasonably priced. Food was really good. Steaks were perfectly cooked to our liking. Waiter & busboy were very friendly & entertaining.
Will definitely be back.

I'll get to the food in a bit, but first I'd like to talk about the service.
I believe anyone can be a waiter. Anyone can bring the food to your table, fill your water, check in to make sure you're doing fine. These are the basics & any half-caring waiter could achieve. What is difficult is the charisma. Being able to make your guest laugh while also knowing when to give them space, to have such a knowledge of the menu to describe sauces as'to die for' & be correct.
Let me introduce you to Raph. A brilliant waiter whose humour & ability to read the mood elevated the meal to a place a chef cannot take it. These are skills that separate the regular chains to the restaurants that you reserve to celebrate. Raph, if you're reading this, thank you for the amazing service.
My partner & I celebrated our 3 year anniversary here! This is what we ordered
The VIP Platter for 2: incredible, if you're going with someone who doesn't mind sharing, this is perfect for you. The peanut butter jam was my highlight
The 12oz Filet Mignon: Our waiter suggested the'Dion' sauce. Amazing, no notes, cooked perfectly, absolutely get the Dion sauce & garden salad.
The Creation Sushi plate: another banger, each bite unique & REAL GINGER!! Which is always a nice touch.
My partner got a Dirty Martini & I a simple gin & tonic, both delicious.
To end our meal, we each had an espresso, a perfect way to end a lovely experience.
Including Tax & Tip, our total was around 250$ (worth it)
Some smaller notes. It really irks me when you ask for a takeout box & the service will make you pack your own, Vargas avoided this which my partner & I really appreciated.
All in All, a wonderful experience. Will for sure be returning for other big celebrations.

Une sortir en famille pour une fête d'anniversaire, le service trop long les plats viennent sans garniture vous devez commander les plats & aussi votre accompagnement la serveuse tres gentille & a l'écoute pas de plat prévu pour enfants meme pas une alternative ,ambiance tres froide mon goût
This is a hidden gem in Montreal. When you think of Vargas it doesn't ring a bell as a talked about restaurant. However, it's twice I go to this restaurant for business suppers & its honesty amazing. The entrees are more on the expensive side however, the size of the entree is huge! It's so worth it. Go to Moretti & the same style of entree is the same price & it is half the portion. Now in terms of quality the food was fantastic! My colleagues & I will definitely go back. If you work downtown you need to go! I'd suggest sitting on the side of the bar since it's renovated.
Had a very great evening at Vargas. Nice vibes & environment. Food was fresh & delicious I definitely recommend the salmon tartare as an entree. Tamara gave us a great service!

Hier fut ma 3e expérience à ce restaurant & chacune de mes visites était en lien avec un événement corporatif. L'accueil est très chaleureux, débutant avec un cocktail 🍸 préparé par une équipe au bar, très compétente & sympathique. Ensuite, temps de passer en salle à manger avec des tables bien espacées & bien dressées. Un menu 4 services est servi, en plus de paniers de pains chauds. Le service de vin inclus par l'événement est bien respecté avec le remplissage fréquent de nos coupes. La nourriture est servie à une température parfaite pour les repas chauds, le tout est bien présenté & les aliments sont frais & savoureux. Le menu corporatif de cette visite consistait d'un choix de salade 🥗 César ou jardin, suivi d'un carpaccio de boeuf ou dumplings 🥟 frits aux crevettes 🍤. Ensuite, mon choix de repas principal s'est arrêté sur le filet de morue noir & pour clore la soirée, on nous a servi un bon dessert, frais & léger, au chocolat noisettes. Je conclus mon avis en remerciant l'équipe de service & celle de la cuisine qui ont très bien préformé tout au long de la soirée 💯
Went for lunch & got the prime rib, it was flavourless… service was extremely slow, we waited for 45 minutes before getting our orders… the only highlight was the lemon yuzu trompe l'oeil.
