Review Summary

Reviewers describe Tula as a fully vegan Indian restaurant with a calm, zen inspired ambiance and warm, attentive service. The food is repeatedly praised for being fresh, flavorful and balanced, often light rather than greasy, with many gluten free and dairy free options that let both vegans and non vegans enjoy a wide range of dishes. The menu blends traditional and innovative Indian flavors, from comforting curries and biryanis to creative regional plates, all prepared with care and a home style feel. The lunch and brunch experiences, including thali and degustation style platters, are highlighted for generous portions, variety and approachable prices. Standout items frequently noted include vegan butter chicken, jackfruit biryani, ragda patties and the mango lassi plus desserts, while cocktails are also praised for quality. Service is consistently described as knowledgeable, patient and friendly, with explanations of the menu and stories behind the dishes contributing to a welcoming atmosphere; the owner is consistently credited with warmth and generosity. The decor and atmosphere are often described as calming and appealing, making it feel like a home away from home. Overall, the consensus is that Tula offers an exceptional vegan Indian dining experience, with great energy, thoughtful hospitality and a menu that appeals to a wide range of palates, ensuring many plan to return for brunch, lunch or dinner.

This Indian restaurant is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the warm & inviting atmosphere sets the perfect tone for an amazing dining experience. The portions are generous, the flavors are rich, & every dish is cooked to perfection. The appetizers were a fantastic start-bursting with flavor & beautifully presented. But the real stars of the show? The biryani, tikka masala, & butter plant-based chicken. Each bite was packed with bold, aromatic spices that made it impossible to put my fork down. On top of the incredible food, the service was outstanding-friendly, attentive, & always ready with great recommendations. If you're craving authentic, delicious Indian cuisine, this is the place to be. Highly recommend!

We ate at Tula on Christmas Day for dinner & it was wonderful! Our host was so friendly & explained with enthusiasm the entire menu. We had the Koshimbir salad( so fresh!), Biryani with chicken (amazing!) & Grandma's curry (warm & yummy). Would highly recommend & we will be back again :)

Unbelievable flavours, we had the butter chicken & the biriyani & both were delicious. We are out of towners & will definitely be back when in Montreal next time.

I don't know how to explain it, but this place feels like home. As soon as we walked in, there is an undeniable sense of peace. The owner is very personable & make us feel so welcomed. The food was delicious & healthy. To drink, we started with the Mango Lassi (SO GOOD! Hard to believe it's vegan) & the Ayurvedic Turmeric latte (turmeric powder is made in house!). To eat, we had the Vegetable Poriyal, Grandma's Curry, & Vegan Chicken Briyani. The dessert was fragrant & light, highly recommend! 10/10 recommend this place!

This vegan restaurant is a true standout, offering a wide range of flavorful options that are sure to impress. Abhishek, the owner, was very kind & took the time to thoroughly explain the menu to us. We decided to try the plant-based chicken tikka masala & vegetable biryani, & both dishes exceeded our expectations. The flavors were bold & authentic, with the perfect balance of spices. The food was so well-prepared, it was hard to believe it was entirely vegan. The warm atmosphere & attentive service made the experience even better. We'll definitely be coming back for more.

Folks, the ratings given to this restaurant by the 1100+ reviewers before me are not an exaggeration. This is the spot. I've ordered & been to TULA quite a few times now, & it has become my favourite restaurant in the city. Montreal has so much amazing food, & TULA tops them all. Not only is the food some of the tastiest food you'll eat, but it's also super healthy. When you tell people you're vegan, the assumption is that you eat relatively healthy. But not so much when you eat out. Vegan does not equal healthy. TULA is delicious, vegan, healthy & totally unique. The owner, Abhishek, is also the nicest, most humble chef & host. He is very passionate about what he does & it shows in his food. He's also a strong supporter of other vegan chefs in the city, & his appreciation for those who directly provide for the vegan community was really sweet & refreshing. Rather than see each other as competition, I love that there's support between those chefs. Regarding the food, I've eaten at TULA for dinner mostly, but recently discovered they also served brunch, & both are delicious. For brunch, my partner & I tried the Bombay Sandwich & the Brunch Platter. The sandwich had multiple layers of greatness & texture. The platter had a few items from the brunch menu, all of which are interesting & different. Sambar, black chickpea salad, chutneys but best of all: the sweet potato porridge. I could have eaten buckets of that porridge. As for dinner food, so far I've tried the: - Koshimbir (isn't it so great when a salad isn't treated as an afterthought & menu-filler?) - Grandma's Special Coconut Curry (good lord, amazing, had it with the assorted veggies & vegan chicken) - Dal Tadka (love the flavor) - Jeera Matar Aloo (maybe I love cumin, this was delicious too) - Biryani with jackfruit (the vegan mint raita is glorious) - Tofu Bhurjee (awesome with the chapati) Food from TULA actually has a lot of real estate on my mind, & I absolutely will keep on returning to try food I've yet to have the chance to eat.

Are you kidding me? One of the best restaurants I've been to for fresh flavor. The tikka masala veg chicken is a must. I also had the chicken biryani & the pineapple salad was fresh & blended just right with greens, flowers, & tasty dressing. Whenever we are in Montreal, we will go here.

As a gluten-free vegan, I ate like a king! So many creative vegan options incorporating tofu, vegan chicken, etc. for a substantial meal. Gluten-free chapati was a nice touch. Weekday lunch thali was so good. I got to try the vegan golden milk & mango lassi, which were also amazing. Would definitely return if I'm back in Montréal!

This place is a gem! All vegan & all gluten-free (except chapati had gluten & gluten-free version). The owner is super sweet. The venue is nice, would be cool if there was a terasse. The food was delicious. We had the vegan butter chicken, jackfruit biryani, & panna cotta. Very impressed by the texture of the faux chicken & the gluten-free chapati. The value for your money is great as the portion sizes are big. I will definitely be back.

We are family of four from Toronto & frequently travelling across the country. We know some of the best restaurants in the North but rarely post any review. On the way from our last road trip we found this gem in Montreal & we decided to give it a try. TBH food was super delicious with a surprise twist & that made me to write this honest review. Must Must try - 1. Koshimbir 2. Stir fry veggies with house special ginger sauce 3. Vegan Butter Chicken 4. Vegan Chicken Biryani 5. Spicy/hot veggies Biryani 6. Chapati There are some rare gem of the dishes on the menu as well & we are going to try on our next visit. Thank you team "TULA" & you are doing great, keep going!! Conclusion - Highly recommended restaurant. Super friendly & knowledgeable

Beautiful place, server was a sweetheart! Super balanced decoration & peaceful vibe. I took a hot drink & it was sooo soothing. The biryani tasted fabulous, the tikka masala was so good, & the chicken portion was very generous. Everything was super flavourful & spicy the way i liked it. Would definitely come back for the lunch thali. Also the desserts look divine!!

I went for the "fake" butter chicken, since I stopped eating meat a long time ago. Unfortunately, it didn't taste like butter chicken sauce at all :( & i also didn't enjoy the fake meat they used. I then learned at Tula they do their own version of everything. So if you're expecting a vegan version of the original dishes, be aware. Don't get me wrong, the food is good. It just wasn't what I was expecting. The staff is great & the ambiance is really good. This little restaurant is cute & very well located. Their version for the mango lassi is espectacular!

I went there last Friday evening with one of my friends. Let me just start off by saying, before & after being a vegan...hands down the best Indian food I have ever had. When the owner asked how the food was I was with my mouth full but my face of "oh God this is amazing" was full on. The owner is extremely calm & friendly, explains everything to you, very nice man & the place is small but cozy, warm & calming as well. I was telling my friend that whoever is cooking in the back, I will marry them for the food. We had the butter "chicken" poutine, butter "chicken" with chapati & the biryani. Yes, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs but we were more than happy to take leftovers home. The spices used for everything were perfect, not too spicy, a perfect blend, a bit of sweetness to it. Definitely look forward to returning & trying their brunch menu! I wish we took pictures but we jumped right into the food!

At Tula, I felt as though I was on a trip to India, enjoying tasty vegan food, referred to as "pure vegetarian" there - with no dairy ingredients. There were three of us. I chose the special thali with eight little bowls, each one with a unique blend of spices & flavour. The owner served us as though we were in his home, & we enjoyed exchanging anecdotes about our travels in India while we ate our way through the various courses. The vegan chicken tikka masala was very good, & I specially enjoyed the grandmother's dish with a delicious blend of spices. We'll be back to sample the brunch menu!
