It's rare for me to give five stars, but this place is a total hidden gem. I'm not a food snob, but I have a sensitive palate & I keep my expectations realistic for the setting-& this spot truly impressed me.

Our host, Abi, was wonderful-so kind, sociable, & attentive. As for the food, the menu is fully vegan with a beautiful, subtle approach to Indian flavors; nothing is'in your face,' allowing you to taste every fresh aspect of the meal. We went for brunch & left perfectly full.

What sets them apart:

House-made Staples: They make their own coconut yogurt & tofu, which is a massive plus.

Quality Ingredients: You can taste the freshness of the local produce.

The Matcha: It was so high-quality it didn't even need sugar.

Excellent quality for the price, & the interior is just as lovely as the service. I'll definitely be back!

Je ne suis pas du genre difficile, mais j'ai le palais sensible & je garde des attentes réalistes selon le type de resto - & là, j'ai été vraiment impressionnée.

Notre hôtesse, Abi, a été merveilleuse : tellement gentille, sociable & attentionnée. Pour ce qui est de la nourriture, le menu est 100% végétalien avec une approche subtile & magnifique des saveurs indiennes. Rien n'est « agressif » ou trop intense, ce qui permet de vraiment goûter la fraîcheur de chaque aliment. On y est allés pour le brunch & on est repartis le ventre bien plein (mais pas trop!).

Ce qui les distingue :

Produits faits maison : Ils font leur propre yogourt de coco & leur tofu, ce qui est un immense plus.

Qualité des ingrédients : On goûte vraiment la fraîcheur des produits d'ici.

Le Matcha : De si haute qualité qu'il n'avait même pas besoin de sucre.

Le rapport qualité-prix est excellent, & l'intérieur est tout aussi charmant que le service. C'est certain que je vais y retourner !

Pourquoi c'est mieux :
'Perle rare' /'Petit bijou' : C'est exactement comme ça qu'un Québécois décrirait un endroit génial mais peu connu.

'Le ventre bien plein' : C'est une expression très courante ici pour dire qu'on a bien mangé sans pour autant être'bourré'.

'Produits d'ici' : Ça sonne plus naturel que'produits locaux' dans une critique enthousiaste.

Est-ce que cette version te semble plus fidèle à ce que tu avais en tête, ou veux-tu qu'on ajuste encore la description des saveurs ?

The Best lndian food in not just Montreal but also in Canada. The owner is extremely kind & his vision of Indian food is unparalleled. The salads here are just mind blowing. The soups are light & delicious. The curries are finger licking good. They have Ayurvedic beverages in their menu & paired with their delicious food, you feel like crying with tears of joy. Tofu Koliwada is to die for. Their vegan butter chicken is yummy & a must try. Their Plant based Chicken as well as Jackfruit Biryani are exceptionally good. Food is 6/5, the place is spotless clean & the service is commendable. The Elaneer Payasam was the icing on the cake. We had to wait as we did not have a reservation. Their Brunch Platter ( our second visit) was extremely good. I have no words to express how good. Can't wait to try more stuff on the menu. This is the best Indian restaurant in Montreal. Infact it's the healthiest Indian food serving restaurant in North America for sure. You feel good after eating here!

Incredible experience all around! Everything about Tula exudes of love & passion from the decor, to the service to & ambiance & obviously, the food. Dishes have been curated to perfection. Abhi, the owner, greeted us with the warmest smile & made sure to explain the menu in detail & answer any questions we had. It's rare to get such passionate & thorough service these days. A wonderful experience at Tula!
I visited Tula in Montreal today & ordered the brunch platter - it was incredibly tasty. The flavors instantly reminded me of my mom's & grandmother's cooking back home in India. There's a true homemade touch to the food that feels comforting & authentic.

The owner is also exceptionally friendly & instantly connects with customers. His warmth & hospitality made the experience even more special.

If you're looking for delicious food with a homestyle feel & great service, Tula is absolutely worth a visit.

Love this restaurant. It doesn't use the same menu as almost every other Indian restaurant. It is creative & authentic (& order anything that is'grandmother's recipe.). I love going here, for supper, lunch or brunch. Just delicious.

This was my second time at Tula was there back in may for my birthday dinner had an amazing experience. Since then I'd always intended to go back for their brunch & im so happy I did got the best service & the most delicious food, looking forward to going back!

Honestly an awesome experience. Abi is the sweetest, took care of my family & I for a birthday, & the service was impeccable even though we were 2 big groups for brunch. A rich authentic brunch like you never had before, full of flavours. A must try, it opened my tastebuds to flavours I never tried & the meals keep you so full & feeling well. Quelle belle expérience! Nous y sommes allés un vendredi soir, l ambiance y était très apaisante & chaleureuse. Que ce soit le monsieur (propriétaire?) ou la dame qui s'occupait de nous, le service a rendu notre moment encore plus agréable. Nous avons pris plusieurs plats à partager & tous étaient très bien présentés & offraient une explosion de saveurs. Bref, nous nous sommes régalés & avons simplement hâte d'y retourner pour tester leur brunch! Merci encore à votre belle équipe pour ce super repas!

This was my favorite meal in Montreal! The owner, Abhi (I hope I spelled it correctly!) who was also the host, was amazing. His passion for the food that he served (& also other restaurants in the area & in the U.S.) was infectious! He made the experience pleasant & fun & we enjoyed talking to him.

& I didn't even mention the food which was excellent. We ordered the brunch platter & another dish & both were flavorful & tasty. We also ordered dessert & chai which were so good.

Highly recommended!!!

The food was amazing! I recommend the tikki burger. The food was so light & flavourful. The portion sizes were just enough & it tasted very authentic. & this was just the brunch menu! The service was so amazing as well! The service was also perfectly bilingual. I highly recommend for authentic & fresh food. Drinks were super good. The mango lassi, made with coconut yogurt, was one of the best I've had!

Tula was an absolute delight. The restaurant opens for dinner at 5pm & we got there between 5:15 & 5:30; we were the first patrons. The restaurant was packed by 6:30 & we also saw many take out orders. We learned later that the owner & chef/menu creator himself follows a gluten free & vegan diet. This made sense as the menu was 100% vegan & 99% gluten free.
We started with masala chai, which hit the spot after a long day. The chai was served in a little matki (clay pot) & was aromatic.
For our appetizer we ordered the ragda patties, a street food. It was served in a small copper skillet. The dish was made very well with authentic flavors throughout. The potato patties were topped with the ragda (chickpea gravy) & garnished with sev (thin fried crispy noodles made from gram flour) & the traditional green/coriander & sweet/tamrind chutneys. Every bite had flavor. It's a big dish & perfect to share.
For our entree we split two dishes. We ordered the tofu tikka masala & jeera aloo mutter with two rotis (1 regular & 1 gluten free). The tofu tikka masala was seriously comforting. The dish tasted like it was homemade, was packed with flavor from simple ingredients & earthy spices. The jeera aloo mutter is a dry dish & mild. For us it worked well to use the gravy from the tofu tikka masala with the jeera aloo mutter. A simple dish, but very comforting. We were thoroughly impressed with the GF roti! The texture & taste were exactly like regular wheat roti…compliments to the chef for nailing it!
& finally for dessert we ordered what Chef Abhishek called a beautiful choice. The gulkand panna cotta. The flavors of this dessert are inspired by paan. Oh my god, this dessert really was insane. It captured the flavors & textures of paan without being overly bearing on either. The shredded coconut atop the panna cotta was'the icing on the cake.'
We chatted with Chef Abhishek to learn more about his inspiration & compliment him on his restaurant & menu. We learned that Tula means Balance in Sanskrit. He took everyone's orders & would take time to talk to all patrons.
This was an absolute gem. Chef Abhishek also shared his thoughts & execution for lunch/brunch. We wish we could have come back the following day to try out the lunch thali, which looks very unique/creative.

Was at Montreal during the weekend & went to Tula. It felt like home cooked food. Abhishek takes time to talk to his clients & explain the dishes. Each one is better than the other & you want to try all of them. From the biryani, Butter chicken to the Thali there is something for everyone. I had the brunch Thali & went next day for the biryani. Was simply amazing & I will go back for sure. There are few restaurants that cater to gluten free & this one has most options. I still have the taste of the delicious food
