Easily the best ramen in Montreal. It reminds me a lot of the flavorful ramen I had many times in Tokyo.
The yuzu nanban chicken is crispy & slightly spicy, but the sourness refreshes your taste.
The tonkotsu ramen, oh heaven, is so flavorful. The texture of the broth is both creamy & clear! The pork is in good portion, & amazingly doesn't have the smelly pig smell that many ramen shops in Montreal have that really turns people off. Truly well done!View more
We've been to the Bois Franc branch a few times, & this was our first visit to the Bishop location. We happened to be there during La Semaine Japon, so with 20% off the mazemen, we decided to give it a try. We ordered the chashu mazemen & the chashu asari shio ramen. As always, the service was quick & the ramen did not disappoint. We especially enjoyed the creamy, rich mazemen. The asari shio ramen had a clean, clear broth-refreshing, though we still personally prefer the bold, classic flavour of their tonkotsu ramen with black garlic oil. Still, this remains one of our favourite ramen spots in town.View more
Cool interior design! The appetizers we ordered, spicy kara age & Takowasa, were delicious. The tonkotsu ramen with chashu & spicy miso was ok-- our friends preferred the mazemen & ordered take out for late night snacks. I personally thought the mazemen was a bit sweet with the peanut sauce. Overall, I recommend the atmosphere & yummy appetizers!View more
Japanese night out with a friend to talk travel-& fuel up right!
I went for the Tonkotsu Ramen: rich homemade creamy pork bone broth with thin noodles, chashu, green onion, kikurage, egg, & nori.
She chose the Maze Men: cold brothless noodles topped with salad, tomato, crispy onions, a poached egg, & tender chicken.
Comfort food, great company, & future adventures on the menu!View more
Staff, service, & ambiance were all fantastic. The place is very cool looking & has a fun vibe. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the food. I ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen with chashu. I found the broth to be boring & lacking depth of flavor. It was also extremely oily & salty, I felt like I was being fed spoonfuls of bacon fat. I have had tonkotsu ramen many times, & unfortunately this one ranks close to the bottom. The pork belly was salty & the piece of meat was mostly fat. If that's your thing, this is the place to be. The spice adds a much needed balance in flavor to the broth. The portion size is adequate. Although the people are very nice & the cool vibe, I would not bother coming back to this place again.View more
Every time I come here, it's for their wasabi octopus (Takowasa) appetizer that I have never seen from other places yet
Very rich broth for tonkotsu & miso, good portion to be full
But the salmon iuke don (big) was just not the best, maybe it's the rice (soggy & not fresh) that just wasn't doing it rightView more
My favourite ramen place in Montreal.
The ramen is delicious & ambiance is great
The best marinated egg, tasty.
I recommend the tonkotsu with porkView more
Oooh, the tonkotsu ramen was so good! Creamy & flavourful & just fantastic. The place has a cool vibe, & the service was friendly & good, just a little slow. It was busy, though, so I do not mind. Delicious!View more
2yr ago I walk passed while it's closed, so I'm excited to give it a try also as my local friend was recommended! Here is the review Tonkotsu Ramen Egg is well done! Chashu(pork) is nicely done as well Noodle is good! Broth is good & I wish there is more! Portion of this is right, lots of flavour in it! I'm a big fans of takoyaki, sadly it's probably the smallest I've seen, the flav is alright, it's bit too crispy & dry, assuming it's deep fried than the traditional way, I would not recommend this.View more
Best ramen I've had in MTL so far with great service. A true ramen experience. Amazing tonkotsu broth, some of the most flavourful & tender chasu I've ever had. You can really taste the marinade in it. They also do a great egg, can tell by the colour that it's at least a 24hr marinade & not simply soft boiled. Noodles seem to all be thin noodles (no thick option from what I could see). Also a great selection of sake & funky atmosphere. One thing to note, their black garlic oil is actually roasted garlic oil. So the colour will be golden & not black (the way it would be if it was fermented black garlic). It is still very very tasty but I think they should update their menu to reflect the difference, just so folks know.View more
Best Ramen I've had in a while. The Chashu Tonkotsu Original with Black Garlic on the side was delicious.View more
I found the place by chance & was drawn in immediately by the unusual angular walls that greet you in the entrance. While small, this place had the best atmosphere of any ramen shop I've been to; if you're lucky, you can get a seat at the second-floor bar overlooking the street. We were seated at a table on the second floor by the friendly staff, & we ordered a bowl of karaage fried chicken with rice, a bowl of original chashu tonkotsu ramen, & a bowl of chicken tonkotsu ramen. The food amazed each of us. The tonkotsu broth was so creamy & flavorful, & the green onions made it smell so much better. The meat for both the pork & the chicken was tender & delicious, & the noodles filled me up. We finished up the night with a celebratory round of cold sake shots. Much appreciation again to the warm & excellent staff making our evening fun & exceptionally pleasant.View more
I got the chicken donburi & it was the best I have ever had. Husband got the chicken tonkotsu spicy. He was able to add more spice as the sauce was on the side. He raved about the broth. The server was so polite & nice. He gave us drink recomendation which was super helpful. We would definitely come back. Finally a good place to eat!!View more
Friendly staff. Ordered Taco Wasa + Chashu Tonkotsu w/ black garlic. Pretty good broth, very tasty, meat was tender, the needle is a little overcooked for me but I would say this is one of the best Ramen I have in town. (Sesotei does a good job too, if you wonder;) One thing I have to mention that it's $18 for a bowl of ramen, I would be happier to see wood ear or some bamboo shots though.View more
Really great place. Had the tonkotsu ramen & karaage. Both were great. Love the decor (eclectic!). Recommended.View more
I had gotten the Tonkotsu original pork & the broth was rich & smooth, almost creamy, it was a very good broth. The eggs were well marinated & complimented the noodles & the broth, the pork was one big slice of meat, although thicker than most ramen char shu, it was well marinated but tough to eat. The takoyaki was a little disappointing as there were not that much octopus & was mostly batter & was not that hot as the flakes were not dancing when it was brought out, overall, the ramen was amazingView more
Ordered the tonkotsu & miso ramen as well as the sashimi, karaage & the octopus balls. Karaage is great - one of the best we have ever had - large pieces (just four though), super crunchy & well seasoned. The sashimi is fresh - again, just four thin slices & a bit too much ponzu sauce. Octopus balls are nothing to write home about. However, we were here for the ramen. 1st the good - & the only - the noodles were excellent. Chewy & slurpy worthy. However, the broth was way too thick & in particular, the miso one had a funky (not in a good way) taste. Can't recommend the ramen here. The wait staff is good. So, overall the joint gets a 3 star ratingView more
Amazing meal! My fiancée loved the cold ramen & I slurped away the Tonkotsu chasu huile d'ail noir! Love the service & decor. The Kara age was perfectly crisp! & the goma melted in our mouth! Love it!
