Overall, reviews describe Trattoria Trestevere as a warm, family-run Italian favorite with simple, authentic dishes, generous portions and consistently attentive, friendly service; the menu ranges from classic gnocchi, tortellini and lasagna to veal parmigiana, seafood pasta and rustic antipasti, with many noting standout items like the roségnocchi, calamari, carpaccio and homemade sauces, and most agree the food is delicious and comforting, the ambiance cozy and welcoming, and the staff genuinely hospitable, though a few comments point to a slightly dated vibe, a dining room that can swing between hot and cool, and prices that can feel high for certain dishes.
My family & I come to Trattoria Trestevere every time we're in Montreal. My kids love it, we love it, & we look forward to our visit every time. It is consistently delicious. Simple & authentic italian dishes. The food tastes like it came out of my Nonna's kitchen & the hospitality & warm welcome from Mauro & Joe only adds to the experience. 5 stars all around!!!
We decided to make a reservation at this restaurant out of nowhere & we didn't expect nothing. Once you get inside you already feel like you're more than welcome. You feel like you're part of the family! They're simply the best. They're always looking out for you & make sure everything is more than perfect. The food is outstanding & delicious. We will be back soon & that's for sure! Everything about this place is outstanding! You need to go eat there to understand what I'm talking about. It was our first time & not the last time. Thank you for everything again ✨

Fantastic restaurant! Real authentic…. Great food fair prices. Been around over 50 years! The service is second to none. What a culinary experience!!!!!!
I asked ChatGPT to recommend an authentic Italian restaurant near our hotel in Montreal to take a client for dinner, & Trattoria Trestevere came up as the #1 suggestion. Let me just say-it more than lived up to that recommendation!
From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional-the warm & welcoming atmosphere, the charming location, & above all, the world-class service & food. We were fortunate to be served by the owner himself, who graciously guided us through a lineup of unforgettable appetizers: calamari, zucchini fries, beef carpaccio, prosciutto with melon, & the most incredible mozzarella in carrozza covered in the most delicious tomato sauce....I noticed on the way out a sign that says you can buy the sauces to take home....if I lived in Montreal, I would be buying their sauce by the Liter! Each dish was perfectly prepared & full of authentic Italian flavor.
For our mains, we enjoyed a variety of dishes-from veal parmigiana, seafood linguine, & filet mignon with pasta, to lasagna, rigatoni, & the highlight for me: the homemade spinach & ricotta stuffed pasta (I believe it was called malfatti). Every single person at the table said it was the best Italian food they've ever had. We ended the night with a spread of decadent desserts-tiramisu, crème brûlée, ice cream, & fried gnocchi with Nutella (which was out of this world). We sipped the best cappuccino I've ever tasted & were treated to a round of limoncello by the owner to finish the evening.
This restaurant is a gem-authentic, warm, delicious, & truly unforgettable. It was the highlight of our time in Montreal, & we are already planning to come back. Thank you, Trattoria Trestevere, for a truly special evening. Bless you! 🙏🏻
Ps. Sorry, I didn't take any photos of the food because we ate it all & were too excited to taste everything as soon as we got it ☺?
A bunch of work colleagues, & I were in town for meetings. We were looking for somewhere we would be able to eat, speak, & enjoy an authentic eatery of Montreal. Well I have to say Trattoria Trestevere checked all the boxes. Their Spaghetti Carbonara is right how it needs to be, & its been on my mind since I had it. We had an amazing time speaking with the Owner, & the Host. After all of our meals, we needed to have a crack at those Dessert Gnocchis & boy oh boy i wish my stomach was bigger, because i definitely would have wished to have more. I'll be making a point from now on when visiting Montreal to make Trattoria Trestevere on the lists of places to eat.

The original recipe lasagne from 50 years ago was outstanding. Authentic Italian. Waiters were attentive, informative, friendly, without being intrusive. Highly recommend this place.
We dropped in my chance & were reminded what authentic Italian food should taste like. The food was so tempting that we forgot to take pictures. Highly recommended.
This restaurant is so good! Authentic Italian food & the service is impeccable! I feel like I'm in Italy. The gnocchi is delicious🤤 i definitely recommend & would come again.
I would recommend this restaurant to anybody who wants to eat truly authentic Italian food. Everything we had was amazing & the service was great. The homemade pasta really stood out to me. Thank you especially to Mauro, I will surely be passing by often!
This restaurant is not a chain, & that was great. It had an authentic & friendly feel. Everyone loved their dish, & the fried gnocchi with chocolate sauce was delicious.
If it's authentic, tasty Italian food you're after then Trattoria Trestevere, on Crescent Street in downtown Montreal, is worth checking out. The cozy interior has a distinct European vibe, a great start to your visit. My starter, a Mixed Salad, was fresh & simple. I followed that with an exceptional Chicken Parmigiana. The chicken was moist & breaded just right. The tomato sauce & mozzarella cheese were so tasty & fresh. The pasta too was fresh & cooked to perfection. For dessert I tried the Fried Gnocchi, dusted with icing sugar, on a thin bed of Hazelnut sauce. Delicious! My only caution was a surprising lack of attention to serving etiquette. Each of the three or four Staff that served us, while generally pleasant, reached directly in front of me on a few occasions. I would certainly return to try other items on the menu.
Trattoria is a hidden Italian gem! The warm ambiance, attentive staff, & tantalizing menu create an unforgettable dining experience. From the homemade pastas to delectable desserts, each dish showcases authentic flavors. With a superb wine selection & impeccable service, It's hands down the best spot to satisfy your cravings for authentic Italian flavors. Trust me, this place is an absolute must-visit. Don't miss out! Merci:))
