In creating Toqué!, more than twenty years ago, we wanted to showcase the Quebec products and the work of those who supply us. We want more than ever to acknowledge the contribution of these suppliers who deserve the glorious title of artisans. We owe them the foie gras or samphire; lamb or vegetables, seafood or herbs. These tireless artisans inspire the cuisine of Toqué! to which they bring the flavors, textures and natural aromas of irreproachable freshness. We are members of Relais & Châteaux and Grandes Tables du Monde.
Toqué! is repeatedly described as a refined, elegant destination where seasonal Quebecois ingredients shine through precise, balanced cooking and inventive but restrained flavor combinations. The tasting menu and wine pairings are highlighted as outstanding, with standout courses such as seafood and duck, and desserts praised for creativity and finesse. The service is consistently praised as attentive, knowledgeable, and warm, with the sommelier guiding the experience without being intrusive, and the open wine cellar and chic, comfortable ambiance adding to the overall delight. While prices are noted as premium, many say the quality, craftsmanship, and overall experience justify the cost, and the restaurant is recommended for special occasions and memorable dinners. Some critiques note occasional fluctuation in dish presentation or consistency and a few moments of service missteps, but the overwhelming impression is one of a milestone dining experience with terroir focused flavor, thoughtful accommodations for dietary restrictions, and a sense of hospitality that makes guests feel valued and eager to return.
Toqué! is one of those rare institutions that justifies its reputation, particularly during the lunch service which offers a lighter, high-energy alternative to the formal dinner experience.
Having visited twice now for lunch, it's clear the kitchen's strength lies in its consistency & its focus on Quebec's seasonal terroir. The dining room, with its polished glass wine cellar & vibrant accents, feels upscale without being stuffy. It is the kind of place where the service is a science, yet the atmosphere remains accessible.
The plates are consistently artful, often highlighting a balance between rich proteins & sharp, fresh components. Starters like the foie gras terrine with its smooth consistency & fruit purée accents, or the confit trout with nasturtium oil, are technical standouts. For the mains, the walleye with caper beurre blanc & the butcher's cut of lamb demonstrate why the restaurant has remained a flagship for over thirty years. While it is certainly a premium experience, the lunch set menu remains one of the best values in Montreal for this level of gastronomy.
My wife & I wanted to celebrate her birthday & some milestones we achieved together! Fortunately for us, during our overnight stay in Montreal, Toqué! was close by & we were eager to have a Michelin Star experience.
Toqué! did not disappointed in the slightest! The moment we arrived, staff greeted us & welcomed us in. The mood, decor & lighting was very pleasant & relaxing. We found ourselves at a nice window seat in a corner table for two.
To skip ahead a little, the cocktails pictured here is their take on a New York Sour called'Le Crepuscule' & without a doubt it was an immediately superior rival to the famed beverage. What a start!
Before I go on & on about the food (which is an easy 5/5, 10/10 or whatever you want to call it) the staff had surprised a few first time diners with a few additional treats at no extra cost! No spoilers here! But everything from the first dish right down to dessert were some of the most savoury & delicious dishes I've ever experienced. Period.
It was a memorable experience & we definitely will come back to Montreal to visit Toqué! to celebrate a milestone or future achievement, no doubt! Thank you for an incredible experience!

An unforgettable evening crafted by François?Emmanuel Nicol, the brilliant chef behind Québec City's two?Michelin?star Tanière³. The nine?course tasting menu with wine pairings was executed with absolute mastery. The venison main course was transcendent-perfectly prepared, deeply flavorful, & easily one of the best dishes I've ever tasted. & the surprise dessert of caviar & crème brûlée was a stroke of genius, balancing luxury, texture, & sweetness with remarkable precision. An exceptional culinary experience from start to finish.
Bravo, merci & respect !
My favorite restaurant in Montreal. The food, atmosphere & service are impeccable. The menu always pays homage to the seasonal québécois ingredients. I think the food has just the right amount of creativity. The chef pairs unexpected ingredients together without it being overly experimental. The lunch set menu is a great value, & their dessert is a must.

On sent une vraie maturité dans l'exécution-nothing is trying too hard.
Excellent & beautiful restaurant. I started with the foie gras terrine & was largely expecting a good terrine similar to multiple Montreal bistros. Toque's dish was incredible, the flavors, the consistency, was both great & very unique. It is a dish you should not miss. I also enjoyed the black cod, cooked perfectly, tender & melted in my mouth. The restaurant itself is elegant, with a very cool open wine cellar.
