In creating Toqué!, more than twenty years ago, we wanted to showcase the Quebec products and the work of those who supply us. We want more than ever to acknowledge the contribution of these suppliers who deserve the glorious title of artisans. We owe them the foie gras or samphire; lamb or vegetables, seafood or herbs. These tireless artisans inspire the cuisine of Toqué! to which they bring the flavors, textures and natural aromas of irreproachable freshness. We are members of Relais & Châteaux and Grandes Tables du Monde.
Toqué. offers a refined dining experience that consistently earns praise for its technical precision and dedication to showcasing seasonal Quebec ingredients. Many guests appreciate the elegant atmosphere and the attentive, professional staff who strive to create memorable moments for special occasions. While the tasting menu is often highlighted as a creative journey through unique flavor profiles and artful presentations, the a la carte options also receive acclaim for their quality and balance. Although perceptions of the pricing and specific flavor combinations can vary among patrons, the restaurant remains a destination for those seeking a high-end culinary experience defined by expertise, consistency, and a deep respect for local terroir.
Don't let the understated look of the restaurant fool you. Toqué! is all about what happens on the plate. The cuisine is not only delicious but also showcases local ingredients in creative & original ways. Every combination of flavors felt perfectly balanced, & the wine pairings elevated the experience even more. The service was attentive & professional throughout the meal. Without a doubt, one of the best dining experiences I've had.
We had the most amazing experience at toque. While we walked in with all the intentions of having the tasting menu, we decided to go for the ala carte option because it appealed to us.
First. The complimentary sourdough & squash-miso butter was glorious with just the amount of tang & unctuousness. Second, the amouse bouche was decadent, yet fresh. The pea tartelette with the velouté sauce was a delight. Finally, the poppy seed encrusted chocolate truffle finale was just the right cherry on the cake.
We loved everything we tried from the lobster, the sea bass, the lamb & the raspberry crémeaux. Even the coffee was delicious & somehow not marked up beyond a regular cafe.
The service was most exquisite. Attentive, funny & just the right amount of sass. Well done to the team. We will be back here for sure!
A Saturday evening at Toqué! is less a dinner than a carefully orchestrated performance.
From the moment you sit down, the tone is set: precision, restraint, & a quiet confidence that comes from decades of consistency at the highest level.
The experience for two unfolds with a natural rhythm.
Each course arrives with intention, never rushed, never delayed.
The menu reflects a deep respect for Québec terroir, elevated through technique rather than unnecessary complexity.
Ingredients are allowed to speak, but always guided by a disciplined hand.
What stands out most is balance. Flavors are clean & structured, portions calibrated to sustain interest without excess, & plating that is refined without drifting into artifice.
There is a clear philosophy at work: excellence through control.
Service follows the same philosophy.
Attentive without intrusion, knowledgeable without performance. The staff reads the table well, adjusting pacing & interaction with subtlety. It feels less like being served & more like being accompanied.
From a value perspective, this is not a cost-driven decision. It is a deliberate allocation toward a high-end culinary experience. The question is not whether it is expensive, but whether the execution justifies the positioning. In this case, it does.
The evening leaves a lasting impression not because of any single dish, but because of the coherence of the entire experience. Everything aligns - cuisine, service, atmosphere - with no visible friction.
Conclusion:
An exemplary fine dining experience in Montréal, defined by discipline, consistency, & respect for product. Best suited for those who value precision over spectacle & substance over trend.
During our spring trip to Montreal, we stayed at the Humaniti Hotel, just a short walk from Toqué!, & made a reservation well in advance in anticipation of this meal. It was an experience we truly looked forward to-& it did not disappoint.
The dining room is elegant & refined, & the service was attentive & thoughtful throughout the evening. We basically ordered most of the courses on the menu, 4 first courses & 4 main courses & 4 desserts. All four of us had an excellent dining experience, with consistently high praise for every course. I would recommend the quail dish, & beef filet was very good, too.
From the beautiful presentation to the precise & well-balanced seasoning, the level of craftsmanship was clear. I must say that for the quality of the food & overall experience, the pricing felt very reasonable.
We would absolutely look forward to returning on a future visit to Montreal.
Had an exceptional experience there with the tasting menu. The food was inventive & unique, demonstrating excellent quality & technique. The serving staff were outstanding: incredibly humorous, attentive, & accommodating. It was a five-star evening defined by great food & genuinely fun service.
Toqué! was an unforgettable dining experience from start to finish! The staff was warm, attentive, & made us feel truly cared for throughout the whole meal. The cozy yet elegant ambiance tied it all together.
Everything we ordered was amazing, from the scallop to the steak. But the duck confit deserves its own spotlight. The meat was tender, moist, & not at all greasy. The skin was crispy, adding that perfect savory crunch. Each bite was rich but balanced, & you could tell the quality & care that went into every step of its preparation.
But the true highlight for me was the dessert. Not only was it stunningly plated, but it tasted even better than it looked. Layers of texture & flavor that played together beautifully. I still miss that exact taste of jasmine tea & yogurt crémeux.
Every single dish we ordered was memorable in its own way. Toqué! isn't a cheap meal, but it's one of those rare experiences that's worth the money for all the senses, imo. Easily one of the best culinary experiences we've had in Montreal.
Absolutely amazing! The service was exemplary. Simon was gracious, attentive & accommodating. The sommelier was knowledgeable & willing to discuss wine choices. The maitre d'hotel was aware of everything that was happening. The food was a gastronomic delight. The wine pairings, close to perfect. This was a once in a lifetime experience.
