We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at The Keg. The prime rib was recommended by the wait staff & it didn't disappoint. It did take our table of four nearly 4 hours from sitting to paying. The wait team took extremely long periods of time between checking on our table of four. The weather was amazing (July) & the outdoor seating made the wait more tolerable. We will eat there again.View more

Btw Amazing New york striploin, one of the best I ever tried but the Caesar salad wasn't good at all & the calamari was all batter. How can you not love the best prepared meat in town, personally we come here for the prime rib but the rest of the cuts are superb, the T-Bone is worth a try, delicious, & the bacon wrapped scallops were so juicy with a hint of sweetness i swear I could have eaten 2 plates of just that, we go often to the Keg, you can always count on the most perfectly cooked piece of meat you'll ever have. & gotta order the tuna tartare, I always get that to start, so well prepared, absolutely packed with flavor, the only problem was the music, it was so loud i had to scream at my guests & I couldn't hear my husband who was sitting right next to me, I asked the manager to lower it but I'm not sure I noticed a difference, my throat hurts from yelling at my guests for 3 hours this is why I removed the atmosphere stars, there is no reason for it to be like a club loud or a bar, it's a dinner, I want to talk normally & be able to hear my guests, this was a major issue for me.View more

Everything on our plates were barely room temp (prime rib, twice baked potato, etc) - definitely sitting under a heat lamp for a while. Also gave us both food poisoning at night.View more

The fact that it is a steakhouse isn't an excuse for very average pork ribs.View more

I've been here several times, & the last time was one of my poorer experiences. The waiter was friendly but took the liberty of making decisions for the table without consulting us. Instead of regular butter, he brought cheese butter. I asked for my baked potatoes for butter, bacon, & chives. He replied the works?! I said no & repeated butter, bacon, & chives because I do not like sour cream. I tried the steak & lobster for the first time but found that the lobster tail was small. I understand why the keg offers two tails with the lobster meal. We also had the rib steak, which was cooked to perfection. No complaints. The service can be a real hit or miss. Sometimes it's fantastic & other times it's okay. But it has never been like my recent experienceView more

We visited this location on the 13th of June, 2024. It was my husband's bday & he loves the prime rib. This time, however, the prime rib was not good. We each had one & they were tiny & not the same usual amazing flavours. On top of that, the fire alarm was screeching & blaring for 15 - 20 mins. They gave us our soft drinks for free & the bill with tax & tip was still 130$. Very disappointed.View more

Great food, attentive staff, & large outside seating area. They are known for their Prime Rib, & it was wonderful. The free sour dough loaf was a nice compliment to my meal. This was an A+ experience in my book. I would suggest making a reservation if possible. This could be a dress up type venue or a casual night out, & dressed down, all would feel welcome.View more

The restaurant have great ambiance. Really classy. They served us fresly baked sour dough bread. & we ordered lobster bisque & escargot for appetizer. It's 4 of us & 3 of us got the 10 oz prime ribs & my son got filet mignon. They are perfectly cooked. Also, the creme brulle is the best. Soft, light & not too sweet.View more

The meats looked good & always love classic prime rib - that looked best. It was noisy w lots of cliche club music. The bar didn't have a divide so you just look at the person across from you. I didn't eat enough to give a real review, but...the crab cakes were crabby which is most important - the crust & cooking didn't help, but were medium. Dip was too salty - lots of salt. Presentation not good. Wedge salad - lettuce wasn't quite cold enough, but it was a good medium wedge salad. Extra cold helps - its supposed to be refreshing. Chilled utensils help too. Was a medium - Bleu cheese was mediocre. The customer's were interesting. Oh, my dirty martini wasn't drinkable - had some sweet floral flavor in it. The coors light was cold & fresh.View more

Vacation in Montreal, trying out one of the suggested best Steak house. We had the 18oz prime rib with mash potatoes cooked med rare, 12 oz New York strip cooked medium rare, BBQ ribs full rack, & vegetarian meat loaf. Calamari for appetizers & Brussels sprouts to share. Over all it was a great meal, our server was friendly & attentive. She totally forgot our Brussels sprout, & gave it to us on the house. That's great service!View more

I can't express enough how great of an evening we had at The Keg Ville-Marie. My mother who has terminal cancer has been dreaming of one night at the Keg. She's been in the hospital for weeks & we weren't sure if we could make this happen. She was finally able to get a pass for one night & The Keg graciously accommodated our last-minute request for a table even though it was during a very busy game night. Immediately upon arriving, the manager, staff (& security who had to run out to get us a wheelchair for her) went above & beyond to make sure she felt safe & welcome at their restaurant. Upon seating, our waiter Nathan took a moment to share with us his story. He had just lost his own mother to cancer 2 weeks prior. He felt - & we agreed - the universe had brought us together. Needless to say, it felt very special & emotional to have Nathan as our server that night. He attended to us like royalty making my mother feel like a queen. They even gave us champagne on the house. Of course, beyond the reception & service, the food was incredible. For appetizers, we had the Neptune stuffed mushrooms & calamari & for the mains the table had the rib-eye & they were all cooked to perfection. The dinner ended with a surprise chocolate/mocha ice cream cake for my mom, which (again) was just an amazing act from the restaurant & Nathan to make my mom feel special. All in all it was a really wonderful night & the whole team at The Keg helped make it a night that we will always have as very a special memory.View more

Conventially located on top of the station. The atmosphere is great for social & business engagements. Dinner tables are set around the bar. Complimentary bread was served warm & that is good. The special-of-the-day was bone marrow & goes well with the sauce. Main was rib steak bone-in that was nothing fancy & of resonable portion for 2 pax. Good selection of wine & reasonably priced.View more

Another meal at one of my favourite steakhouses in Montreal, with this time a return at the one of Place Ville Marie. I had great steaks here in the past, but this evening the bone-in rib eye was less impressive (my last visit's rib eye was simply more flavorful/exciting mouthfeel, the spicing better balanced too for same requested cooking temperature. Even the texture of the rib eye was not as finely achieved as on the weekend evenings I passed by) as the previous ones I had here before. I should observe that I have always visited this location of Fridays & Saturdays evenings, whereas this is the 1st time I was trying it on a Wednesday. So not too sure if the difference has to do with the fact that it is perhaps not the same team of cooks on Wed Vs on Fri/Sat or perhaps the selection of the meat was simply a bit different that what I had on the other evenings. Eventhough it is widely known that bone-in cuts of meats are more flavorful, I remain unconvinced in this case: the last 3 visits at various Kegs in Montreal & Laval featured the bone-in version of their rib eye, & although good (on the last 2 visits), I still remember the old boneless rib eye to be more exciting in mouth. Ambience is great. Service was good as it is always the case at Keg (very classy, indeed) & even this less impressive rib eye of this wednesday evening did not stop me from enjoying my time there. Just keep that steak as flavorful & exciting as it has always been.
