Beautiful views over looking the city & river.
In winter they have these little bubble tents set up where you can only sit in if you have a reservation & opt for a $60 3 course meal. Food seemed good but we elected to sit at the bar area under the heaters.
We visited TerrasseWilliam Gray to celebrate a special birthday & brought our own cake to make it more personal. The view was absolutely beautiful - truly the highlight of the experience - & the ambiance is very Instagram-worthy.
I completely understand that it's $69 per person, so the final bill wasn't surprising. However, based on what's presented on Instagram, we expected a more elevated & abundant setup. In reality, the table felt quite minimal, with smaller portions & limited variety. It wasn't necessarily bad - just not the high-end experience we were expecting, which was a bit disappointing.
The morning sun was also quite strong, which made it slightly uncomfortable at times despite the lovely scenery.
On a positive note, I truly want to mention the receptionist downstairs - he was incredibly kind, welcoming, & professional. He genuinely made a great impression & added warmth to the experience.
Overall, it's a beautiful place with a stunning view & kind staff, but in terms of presentation & overall'wow' factor, it didn't fully live up to our expectations.
The meal was exquisite, surpassed only by our server David. The view exceeded expectations & the snow globe made the experience even more magical. 10/10 recommend
Beautiful view, but feels like a tourist trap
We visited Terrasse William Gray as tourists around 2:00 pm, hoping to enjoy a couple of drinks & the view from their igloos. Upon arrival, we were told that the only option available was a fixed 5-course'experience' priced at $120 per person, & that we would not be seated in the igloos with a view. Instead, the only igloo offered was located at the back of the restaurant, with no view (although it did have a fire pit).
Since we had just finished lunch & didn't feel we would enjoy a full tasting menu, we decided to make a reservation for the evening instead. For dinner, the price increased to $170 per person, before taxes, & required full payment upfront to secure the table - again, for the same igloo without a view. Despite our hesitation, we went ahead & booked it to experience what the restaurant had to offer.
About 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant, we realized we wouldn't make it back in time due to sightseeing in the area & called to cancel. We were informed that the payment was non-refundable, which was disappointing.
When we arrived later that evening, the table was ready, & the staff was genuinely friendly & welcoming. Unfortunately, the experience fell short when it came to the service & food. Our server was unable to answer basic questions about the menu, which made us feel they were not very familiar with it. The food itself was nicely presented but ultimately forgettable - nothing stood out or felt worth the high price.
In the end, we paid around $700 for dinner for four, & it was not an experience we truly enjoyed. While the ambiance & location are beautiful, the pricing, rigid policies, & underwhelming food made this feel more like a tourist trap than a memorable dining experience.
La Terrasse William Gray delivered a truly magical holiday brunch experience. Dining under the winter dome with clear blue skies & a breathtaking view over Old Montréal felt incredibly special… One of those rare, perfect winter days.

The brunch was outstanding from start to finish, with delicious food, excellent service, & the unforgettable espresso martini tree adding a fun & festive touch. The atmosphere was cozy yet elegant, making it the perfect place to gather & linger.

Spending quality time with amazing company in such a beautiful setting during the holiday season made this experience even more memorable. An absolute treat, & a spot I would happily return to again & again.
I went to the William Gray terrace here in Montréal for my friend's birthday, & I absolutely loved it. The service is incredible, & the view is amazing. The dishes were delicious & the portions very generous. We especially loved David's smile , he is truly incredible. Thank you!
A very nice place for a get together with colleagues, friends & family. We went while it was still warm outside & it was pleasant to have a drink, est & enjoy the rooftop view.
The service was excellent, our server was very efficient & attentive. It was unfortunate that you can only be there for a max of 2 hours, although our server did offer to see if it was possible to move us to a different table.
Everything we ordered was really good & I can recommend without hesitation as we will go back for sure.
Mind-Blowingly Beautiful: The Bubble at Terrasse William Gray ✨
From the moment we stepped into the bubble at Terrasse William Gray, we were transported into a dreamscape of elegance & wonder. Nestled in the heart of Old Montreal, this experience was nothing short of magical. The transparent dome offered panoramic views of the historic city skyline - like dining inside a snow globe!
The ambiance? Impeccable. Cozy yet sophisticated, with plush seating, ambient lighting, & just the right touch of winter charm. It felt intimate & exclusive, like a secret hideaway designed just for us.
& the food-oh, the food! Every dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor & beautifully plated.
A special thank you to Laura, whose warm & attentive service made the evening even more unforgettable. She was gracious, thoughtful, & genuinely delightful.
Whether you're celebrating something special or just want to treat yourself to an unforgettable night, the bubble experience at Terrasse William Gray is a must. It's not just dinner-it's a unique moment!
The view is wonderful, food is good & price is fair. Service is good & we had a very good time here.
We stop here on our second day in Montreal - we didn't know where to eat & we decided to give a try at least if the food is not good to have a nice view of the old port.
We arrived without reservation & we got a table with a great view. We needed an extra chair for our staff & the waiter accommodated this request. We get a good selection of meals & at the end we spent 90 excellent minutes with good drinks, good food & a great view . If you have a moment & you want to enjoy food view & drinks give a try & stop by.
View is fantastic. Great for afternoon cocktails or a long boozy lunch!
Incredible roof top views, lively crowd, friendly service, excellent oysters, bar tender made superb mojito, a must when in Montreal
After several tries, we finally secured a reservation at William Gray Restaurant. While expectations were high, the experience was mixed.
The food was average overall , the burger & fries were typical of many mid-range spots, & although the duck salad was creative, it felt overpriced for its simplicity. The steak was well-cooked & flavorful but didn't quite meet the premium standard suggested by the restaurant's reputation & prices.
Overall, the food quality didn't fully justify the cost.
That said, the ambiance & view were outstanding, overlooking Montreal's Old Port, the setting alone makes the visit memorable. If you're going for the atmosphere, it's worth it; if you're going for exceptional cuisine, you may leave a bit disappointed.
Everything was great, place, food, service & best of all, the view of the old port-simply amazing.
Went there on a Friday night. We had made reservations prior to the event. Food was amazing (the beef sirloin could be cut with a fork), service was quick & the view is good (concrete jungle with an okay view of the Old Port area, but the atmosphere was intimate).

Terrasse William Gray is easily one of the best dining spots in Old Port. The views are spectacular, the food is exceptional, & the service is truly outstanding. We'd been wanting to visit for quite some time, & I couldn't have picked a better day to finally go.
Since weekends are reserved for brunch, we enjoyed a delicious meal of chicken & waffles & a lobster benedict-both prepared perfectly. The drink selection was great as well, but what really stood out was the service.
We were looked after by David, who went above & beyond to make sure our experience was memorable. It's a special place where you feel genuinely welcomed, & I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
