Review Summary

Ta Pies has garnered a strong reputation as a go-to spot in Montreal for authentic Australian and New Zealand style meat pies, with many patrons praising the exceptionally flaky crust and flavorful, hearty fillings like butter chicken and classic steak and cheese. While the atmosphere is described as cozy and welcoming with friendly service, it is primarily noted as a takeout destination due to its limited seating and small physical footprint. Although some reviewers mentioned concerns regarding potential changes in management, inconsistent stock levels, and occasional discrepancies in pricing or portion balance, the vast majority of guests find the comfort food to be a delicious, high-quality, and satisfying experience that keeps them coming back for more, especially for the convenience of purchasing frozen pies to bake at home.

Visiting Montréal & decided to look up any pie shops for my expat Kiwi husband who hasn't had a "proper pie" in nearly 10 years. The sausage rolls were excellent, steak & cheese pie exactly what he was hoping for (& beyond his expectations), & the addition of a thick shake & lammington put our experience over the top. If you are looking for a true Kiwi sausage roll or pie, this definitely fits the bill! Thank you so much for giving him a little bit of home!

Ordered a classic beef & a beef bacon cheese to try - They were so good that on the way back to the car, we had to stop to pick up a few frozen pies for later. Soft, flakey, & the filling is tender & delicious. About $8 a hand pie is very fai

I have been a fan for years, but mostly through delivery. I was in the neighbourhood recently, though, & I went in. Had a great experience chatting with the person behind the counter, everything was great, except that when I opened up the box to eat my pie, it was the wrong one. I ordered butter chicken, I received what looked like bolognese sauce & cheese. I still ate it (no time to go back), & it was delicious, it was just the wrong kind. You haven't lost a customer, I'm just going to be extra careful next time, or stick to ordering in.

Amazing pies! I'm from NZ & I have to say the steak & cheese & steak & mushroom were both incredible. Great pastry & filling.

I tried the new location at 5525 Monkland Ave. recently for lunch. Having a hard time deciding which one to choose, I went with the Steak, Bacon & Cheese immediately & took the Lamb Roganjosh & Butter Chicken as frozen pies to try later. The steak was good, meat was tender & flavorful. I had the Lamb Roganjosh for dinner & it was delicious I highly recommend trying this one! I will definitely go back for more. I have yet to try the Butter Chicken but from my experience so far I'm sure it will be good. I recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a quick & yummy bite to eat.
